Another Half life 2 and Doom 3 thread.........same release dates!!

Ok, I myself hate seeing Doom3/hl2 threads, so the fact that I created one makes me want to punch myself in the nuts. That aside let me get to the point, according to this website http://sogamed.com/?s=sgfeaturednews&sub=viewfeature&feature_id=49
Doom 3 has a release date of july 14. Hl2 will probably be around the same time. I feel that 2 overly hyped games even released within the same month can possibly hurt each other. Yes I'm buying both of them, but damnit If there both in fact released in the same month I think I'll be so overwelmed that I might passout and possibly go into an coma and never wake up. So I guess it won't hurt the games as much as it will hurt me. After playing some pretty sh!tty games lately I think two games that are going to kick a$$ will be too much for me. I don't know why I created this thread..................
 
useless thread..you know the saying in those cases "only official blah blah crap"

if that would happen (those 2 games being released at the same time) i would be majorly pissed off, because i can't buy them both at once..and even if i could, i wouldnt want to..

im buying HL2, playing it at least twice, then ill buy doom 3. hopefully ill find it a little cheaper a month or so after release.
 
Pretty cool. But im not really looking forward to doom3.
 
buy both, commit to finishing one first, then move onto the other, try each one's MP aspect, and play the one you like more.

or just buy HL2 and live happily ever after.

Yup, Doom 3 should be a nice appetizer, the main meal of course being Half-Life 2 ;)
 
Spamming narrow corridors should keep me entertained for at least 30 minutes! :D
 
This iz excellent news, thank you for posting this (if it's real). I'm definetly buying doom3 while waiting hl2 :)
 
holy crap balls, the thread actually says june 14 not july which is in 21 days. I at first glance thought it was july, my bad. Now I'm rea ea really happy:) I need to go visit some doom 3 forum.

June 14th thats like so close... it cant be.
 
Where are the most popular doom 3 forums? Those planetdoom forums seem to be as lifeless as a dead dingoes donga.

I sure hope so, I need a game to get me by until HL2 is released. My wife and kid are just not cuttin it.

Amazon still says the end of the year ... apparently they haven't heard about it yet :p
 
Well, I want DOOM3 alot!!!


But to be honest HL2 has eclipsed the thought out of my mind.

I simply wont be interested in the game until I have played the crap out of HL2.


I will buy it if it comes our significantly before HL2 is due. I want to test my PC. But I am not going to buy it at the same time as HL2. It would be a waste of my cash. Might as well wait till I have finished with HL2 and then it might be cheaper.. :p
 
Guys this is insane. 21 days away.....

Hmm....apparently it's the "official" release date....announced by Activision, which goes beyond the totally false retailer release dates. I am therefore very excited. But then I remember September 30th....
 
I'll probably buy Doom3 first(wait wait, I'll explain)
1: Doom will be fun for a while, and when I get tired of it, HL2 will be cheaper. Half life 2 will tide me over the rest of the time until HL3 comes out(hell I still play HL1).
2: Its kinda like the book/movie thing. If you read a good book, and a movie comes out about the book, you get mad and hate the movie(as happened with Hannibal). So you watch the movie first, and you are happy with the movie, then you read the book and are very happy with the book(like The Shining).

For now to pass the time, I'm playing Far Cry. Depending on when I finish it, I may not even need to wait. It has taught me that I need to upgrade my system ASAP. I can run it, but I have to disable a bit to make it playable.

I usually wait until the first patch is out for a game. By then all of the suckers have already found the likely problems with installs(Hey Valve can't test the install with every single system out there, and while UbiSoft isn't Valve, Far Cry certainly had its issues in the install process: error 1335, look it up), and stability(I hit a few of these in my time). And if I do, there might even be people out there who have had the same issue, and might be able to help me resolve it.
 
Something interesting i just heard....(well...read)...DOOM3 is going to have co-op built in! Only 2 player....but still a nice addition.

if this news is true, im excited!
being a fan of Doom series it should bring back some memories :E
this could also mean a HL2 release isn't too far off!
let the hype trains get started!! :D
 
It hasn't shown up on Blues News yet. If this was true, it should be there by now...

Don't worry there is a COOP mod for DOOM 3 PC

Just like sven coop 2 for Hl2

Xbox will have COOP, PC will not, it bummed me out too.. as much as TRent Reznor walking away from the project because it was taking way too much of his time (he had good reason, 2 years later and doom3 isnt out)
 
I don't like Doom3 because there isn't a Manipulator Gun. OMGosh what a trend Valve will set and all the strange parodies of this gun to come...

If I'm not wrong, last year's E3 trailer for doom3 showed the player picking up a dead zombie with some "something" and threw it over a railing.
 
Ok apparently this date is BS.

Activision have done this before with that April 15th date.
