So i decided to give Oblivion another try, but its having the same issues that made me stop playing it the first time. I played Dark Messiah a lot, which is way more fine tuned and friendly in terms of UI, controls, and overall feel. So its hard for me to enjoy Oblivion.

1) This is what my main problem is: The inventory screen is confusing as hell. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to have a listed inventory? I have too many items to keep track of, and i often waste time scrolling up and down trying to find what i am looking for, which is very annoying when im trying to compare two items that are separated by over 9000 items between them. It is also very confusing as to determine what item goes where on my body. I click something that looks like gauntlets, and all of the sudden all my clothes are off and im in my boxers, wtf? Now i have to spend 5 minutes trying to find all my clothes again in a list of millions of items, and put them on again.

2) EDIT: (I finally figured it out lol) Also, how on earth do i DROP items from my inventory? I managed to pick up too much loot and i couldnt walk anymore. I tried furiously to drop items by different methods. I tried dragging them out of the inventory, right clicking, hitting the Grab button, hitting every button on the keyboard, nothing worked. So now im stuck and i cant move at all.

3) The shortcut keys for spells doesnt work either. I do as it tell me, but it refuses to assign hotkeys :(

4) How do i check my overall damage or armor?

I guess im too used to the Diablo 2 type of UI, where you can hit "I" and do what you want in a matter of seconds. I also find the animations in this game to be a joke, Bethesda needs to hire some new animators :/ The combat feels very sluggish and booring, my standards are too high after playing Dark Messiah.

Is there any mods out there that will help me sort these annoying things out and let me enjoy the game? I hear people talk about how great this game is all the time, but its these small things that keeps ruining it for me.

RTFM.

it's been a while since I played Oblivion so bare with me if the info is incorrect.

2) shift clicking items will drop them from your inventory(they will drop once you exit the inventory screen not right away)

3) they work or something is wrong with your game/computer...go to your spell/weapon/item-page, press and hold a number key 1-9 once the radial dial pops up left click whatever item/spell/weapon you want assigned to the key you pressed.

4) I don't remember.

BTMod for UI.
OOO for gameplay.

The rest are all gravy.

To expand a little on what Crom said.

1) "TES Nexus", IMO, offers the best listing of mods for all Elder Scrolls based games. Period.

2) The "BTMod" for the User Interface is indeed an excellent mod for Oblivion. However, I would have to say that the "Darnified UI" takes the cake. It's simply fantastic.

Darnified UI - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10763

3) The "OOO" mod, better known as the "Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul" mod, adds so much content to Oblivion, that it's almost a game in itself. Oblivion just isn't worth playing through without OOO installed. A great many other fantastic mods make use of OOO & as a result adds even more content. However, if you want a real awesome gaming experience, I would advise you to also download "Martigens Monster Mod" ( MMM ) as well to run with OOO. Just keep in mind that if you do, make sure you read the install directions VERY CAREFULLY.

MMM - http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=14442

4) I strongly advise you to install the newest version of the "Oblivion Mod Manager". Most, if not all newer mods require it.

5) If you play as a mage, then I highly advise you try out "Midas Magic Spells of Aurum"

There are just so many awesome mods out for Oblivion, that it's nigh impossible to list out which ones are best, as there are just too many to list.

Enjoy!

Thx for all the suggestions, il try them out! :)

Make sure you use one of the UI mods, it's almost essential IMO. I think the one I use is the "Darnified UI", it lets you see like 24 items per page and you can collapse the different categories so you don't always have to see your ten billion different potions and ingredients. It makes everything much smaller like you'd expect from a game you play on a monitor instead of a TV. I don't know how I would have managed my inventory without it.

Hm it appears that all links to the Mod Manager are dead. I tried googling it but i cant find the latest version anywhere :(

I'm thinking about trying FCOM Convergence:

Lot of enemies, but you can adjust the amount of spawns in the options. I'll probably backup my Oblivion folder before installing it because the changes are extensive and I don't want to **** up my install.
