Are there there any other Sci Fi first person shooters for the PC that have large scale battles in single player for example big groups of allied and enemy NPC's (Non playable characters) fighting each other?

Project : Snowblind, really really really good shooter.
Has vehicles and mechs too.

But try the demo, cause it is a love or hate game, I loved it, but you might not.

Don't know... maybe check out that Star Trek: Elite Force 2 game, I thought the demo was pretty decent at the time.

Freedom Fighters is excellent, even if it's not sci fi it's historical fi and it has a lot of good good combat/massive battles with you, allied NPCs, and enemy NPCs.

Multiplayer = no though

Oh man it would've KICKED ASS with multiplayer...CO-OP!

Yeah its a royal shame there's no co-op in Freedom Fighters. That game was freakin awesome.

generally not huge scale battles because its a bit taxing for first person graphics to have that many complex models on screen at once :O

Play the Call of Duty expansion.

>.<

It's not Sci-Fi but... It's huge.

I will also have to agree, that freedom fighters was just simply amazing!

I still look forward to the day when I can be dropped into a massive battle in the StarCraft universe.

You could wait for Quake 4, though I guess you're looking for stuff that's out now. :p

That will be the best type of game ever. Not a starcraft game... but a game where you are pitted into *HUGE* unscripted wars, as a single grunt or soldier. Though of course with the ability to have allies and stuff follow you.

I can't wait until games get so advanced with such great artificial intelligence, that whole huge battles with thousands of hundreds of thousands of units will play out differently each time, except of course with you as the X factor that can completely change everything for the better for one side.

you might want to try out http://www.chromethegame.com/

and it's upcoming sequel www.specforcethegame.com

'Chaser' has a good storyline i hear www.chasergame.com

i havent had a chance to try it out though

Ugh, Chrome was total crap...
Cheesey as hell voice acting, horrible vehicle physics...they were like glued to the ground and never aligned with slopes and stuff, story was interesting but poorly executed, laggy as hell multiplayer with cheaters ahoy...

Haven't played Chaser...

You might also want to try Planetside, it's an MMO which means you have to pay every month but the battles do get pretty big.

Nah, planetside was a dissapointment.

I loved Planetside.
The battles could get really epic.
The amount of teamwork involved was astounding.
Graphics weren't the best, but with the size of the battles... pixel shading and bump mapping and 99999999999 polygon models, would really destroy the game.

It's fun for about a year or more... it was for me atleast.

The air vehicle controls/handling etc were lame, at best :-/

Not to mention firing out of the gun turrets and stuff on the vehicles seemd rather unexciting and bland.

EDIT: Haha, that bear powers link in your sig is ****ed up!

I still need to get Pariah and Project SnowBlind. Probably do that within a week.

Freedon Fighters has MP if you get the consoole version ;)
Kinda fun too :D

Whats it like? Do you lead your little squads against the other player? Or do you just control your one person?

You lead your squad against the other players squad, and attempt to get all bases and have the flag before the end of the time limit.

Time limit? Ugh... where's the option to just fight against each others squad?

Not there, I don't think.

The time limit is generous, and you can only make soldiers if you have a base.

the sp demo of freedom fighters wouldn't let me change my keyboards controls, is this the same in the full game

Nope, You can change em.

I hated Project Snowblind, but you might not :p.
Chronicles of Riddick is a really good sci-fi shooter, don't know about large scale battles though.

It doesn't have large scale battles Riddick.

Snowblind was ok....Nothing special, but not bad either. The art direction was truly awesome.
