Any way to reduce the ****ING PAIN when shawing?

Shave with the grain and not against it. Also, get some moisturizer for your face and probably some shaving jell.

Don't really get why you guys ripped him apart on this, but no matter.

I too am not a fan of shaving as I find it painful if my facial hair grows out long enough.

wow, you really need to shave that often?

I can't speak for him, but I shave twice a day as well. I have alot of hair and it grows very fast. If I don't shave for two days I get a beard (albeit a short one)

FAK! I shave every two days at least D:

Shaving sucks.

Make sure your blade is really sharp. Seems counter-intuitive, but a sharper blade doesn't hurt as much. Also, make sure you shave up and down, never side to side if you use a blade.

If it gets to be a big problem, get an electric shaver.

This is how you use teh shaving foams!!

OMFG. ^ This last page made me actually laugh out loud. I seldom do that while reading the forums.

Anyway, something's clearly going wrong. I don't get any pain myself, and I barely even bother with shaving cream or anything.

Don't grow it all week and then shave it, you nonce! The longer you let it grow, the more it will hurt when you shave it all off.

Why do some say to shave with the grain? It must vary among different people, because I have to shave against or else it leaves a lot of hair visible.
Also, I don't bother with cream/gel...maybe soap if it's fairly long.
I get no pain at all, maybe a bit of scratchiness but that's it.

Edit: So I had to google "shaving against the grain" after that and decided this was helpful http://www.ftmguide.org/shaving.html

Haha. I don't even use shaving foam/cream. Just do it in the shower, the hot water and a reletively sharp razor is enough.

alot of people shave up when they start because they do that in the advert, but that's WRONG!!!!!

shave down, and if you need to shave up afterwards so... be.. it...

also, use aftershave, it stops it hurting/itching afterwards//

and darkwolf, that's pretty cool you can do that, but alot of people have too much stubble to shave without foam, it would hurt too much.

Every time i shawe (sp?) it feels like im peeling the skin of my face. Also, afterwards when i wash everything off, it feels like someone is poking me with needels. The pain is undescribable. And when i start bleeding (always) i have to use that ****ing salt stick to burn the ****ing flesh so it will stop bleeding.

This is crazy, i cant believe im going through this pain just to "look good". Is it anything im doing wrong????

Being a gamer is hard...cuz i sit all weekend letting the beard grow out so i have a shitload of beard to shawe on sundays.

Pissing me off

Try Gilette Fusion, I've tried it myself and works like a charm

I always shave up after each down stroke, just to get rid of the stubs... that way my face is nice and smooth.

Fun fact - I never learned to shave manually, just been using an electric. It's kind of untidy but it takes a couple weeks for it to really grow out anyway...

Also, I never learned to tie my laces the "proper" way, I always just do that retarded rabbit ears thing. Which I hardly ever do, cause I do a double loop when I first get my shoes then just slide em on and off, which gradually does in the back of them but oh well... I'm saving time, and time is money! If that applies to total slackers... :)

Oh, but my dad did give me the sex talk. When I was like 20.

My advice (and some of it has already been mentioned, so it's also a summary of sorts):

  • Use a good razor, like a Mach 3 or a Mach 3 Turbo. (After that Gillette just went apeshit with their new models, truth be told.)
  • Massage your face and neck with hot water to reduce resistance and soften the hairs. Alternatively you could hold a towel soaked with hot water against your face and neck. Your call.
  • Change gel by the sound of it, and the gel you get instead you should work into a foam.
  • Wet the blade with hot water and shave with the grain, not against it. Also, you might want to rinse the foam off the blade after each stroke.
  • Shave every two days instead of once a week.
  • Change the blade frequently; I recommend somewhere in the neighborhood of one to two weeks before you put on a new one. Four Mach 3 Turbo blades won't set you back more than 100 SEK. (OK, maybe slightly more, but we're talking small change here.)

There are many more tips if you want to make it more complicated but this should cover the basics.

What's the proper way? o.0

1. Get a new razor blade.
2. Use shaving cream.
3. Use lukewarm water.

I personally have started shaving against the grain on the sideburns and on the chin, though do it normally under the chin.

Also make sure you are lathering the shaving gel up properly, the Gillette stuff needs a bit of work to get it to the right consistency sometimes

Wow, every part of that except the sex talk is exactly how I am

almost kinda creepy....

Wow, thanks for the help guys. I love this forum!
I will be reborn the next time i SHA-V-E and there will be harmony.
The reason why i dont use electrical is because i was always thought that they suck, every where i went they always said "thats for pussies" etc. Well considering i cant shave with razors i might go the pussy way.

How much is one btw?

Mine was like $50 (convert it yourself) but they go for as low as $20 or so

An electric razor can be very convenient. I used one when I first started to feel the need to shave, and I didn't switch to a regular razor until a year ago or so. One thing that I noticed immediately was that my skin was much less irritated by the Mach 3 Turbo, probably because I no longer mowed back and forth with the electric razor. I also enjoy the closer shave. The downside is that I have to buy shaving gel and new blades, but the monthly cost is worth it for me, and hardly noticeable.

I bought my electric razor for about 300 SEK; it's one of Philips' entry-level models. I've seen models go for as much as 3300 SEK, though. :D

I find electric razors PULL the hairs out, well atleast thats how it feels!!!

I use Gillete Fusion, as your face stays moist and you can carry on shaving an area even if the foam is no longer there. My only problem is on my right side where my jaw curves to meet the neck. I get a weird 'build up' and have to shave SIDEWAYS for a while to get it smooth.

But yeah, make sure you change your razor once a fortnight, if like me you need to shave almost every 2nd day. If you shave with no blood, the razor is fine. As soon as you start drawing blood, the razor is getting too blunt. Makes NO sense to me that a BLUNTER razor will cause you to draw blood, but it seems to be the problem.

That's why you run your face over with a trimmer first prior to using the electric razor, it's not made to shave some dude with a Grizzly Adams neck beard going on

**** electric razors. Stick to the old school, G. Keeps my face un-hairy every time. And switch dat raza regularly. Aight yo?

You don't like that?

well then

shawing

That's not necessary if you shave frequently. :)
