My friend is. He preordered or some shit. I can't stand playing fast FPSs on console. Bioshock and the like are fine, but games like TF2 aren't.
A game like this looks nigh impossible to play on the console.
It's pretty fast-paced, you'd have to be an expert at console FPSes to play it.
While it?s more visually unique than any shooter we?ve ever seen before, Team Fortress 2?s controls will be a breeze to pick up. Right trigger fires your equipped weapon, the left trigger controls your secondary fire (not all weapons have this), and the bumpers switch between your character?s three weapons. Hitting Y will tell you the score, pressing X will allow you to taunt your foes (such a great feature), the B button is used for reloading, and A will make you jump. Finally, you can press the Back button at any time to change your class, something that will be immediate if you?re still in your spawn room, but won?t happen until you die on the battlefield. Finally, you can click the right stick in to call for a Medic. Actually, scream might be a better word?
Without being obsequious, the game looks just about perfect. With teams struggling to hold each of the five control points on the map, no quantity of exploding bodies, shrieking rockets, or sniper fire seemed to slow the game for even a moment. Our own Gabe Graziani blazed through the match as a Scout, initially, and with no hiccups. Although we'll be doing a side-by-side at release between the PC and 360 versions, it's no exaggeration to say that the 360 version looked just as good as the PC demos we've seen running.
The 360 control scheme will be easy for any console fan to approach, with primary and secondary fire linked to the right and left triggers, weapon cycling set to the bumpers, jump set to A, and crouch set to L3 (that's clicking the left stick). The d-pad allows you to select weapons without cycling. More interestingly, the R3 button is a quick way to call for a medic, and the Y button brings up the scoreboard -- perfect for keeping track of your headhunting prowess. The X button brings the camera out to third-person for a class-based taunt gesture.
I have a question/favor. Could someone tell me, or contact Valve (for those who sometimes have access to them) to find out whether or not Orange for the 360 is going to be region free, or whether it will have region coding for each area? I would be much obliged. I have a Japanese 360 (I live in Japan) and want to get Orange, but the only version that looks to be available at all, is the US version by import. I want to know if I will be able to play that on my J360.
Thanks!
