anyone going to watch V?

Hmm, hadn't heard of this but that was a decent trailer. I'll give the first couple episodes a shot. I'm a sucker for anything with alien contact in it. Skeptical about the drama / characters part of it though...

Looks good, has both Morena Baccarin and Alan Tudyk? Count me in.

Definitely checking it out.
Haven't seen the original V in years, maybe I should rent it and watch it in preparation to this?

Probably not. The original sucks anyway. But even if you whould enjoy the original, it probably won't do the new show any good watching it.

From the creators of the 4400, that alone will make me pass on it.

The 4400 wasn't that bad, great premise that lost some of its flair as the series went on.

Also, no way... V was great, I just think it'd be neat to see how different the new show will be compared to the original.
Going out to Blockbuster later today to see they have it.

Always on the lookout for (hopefully) good sci fi. I'll see it.

I'll watch the promo, but I'm not expecting anything crazy

SyFy had the old one this weekend what a good show. Amazed at the fact so many dont remember it. I will give this a chance see how they changed the concept.

Morena Baccarin and Elizabeth Mitchell. Count me in. Seems like a pretty good idea for a remake even if the original was terrible. I will give this a try for sure.

That was great.
Can't wait for next Tuesday.

My only quibble is that I think they revealed way way way too much for a first episode... doesn't really leave much room for any mystery.

Holy smokes was the first episode awesome! I for one welcome our new alien overlords! :naughty: You just know the preacher is gonna be busting out the shotty in an alien apocalypse. At the end of the season they are gonna use the C4 to blow up a battleship, not a mothership I bet. Then the real mothership in space is gonna call for back-up like the Combine! EPIC SHOW I JUST KNOW IT!

The show is like Mars Attacks:

This show cannot fail!

The intro looking kind of promising, but after the title it got really boring. It went proved to be a generic aliens-come-to-earth story, and didn't seem a whole a lot of different from other shows like Earth Final Conflict and 4400 which were both really poor shows. They also already revealed all the things the crazy conspiracy guy said was actually true (like they are actually reptilian and they are baddies), so there's zero mystery there anymore. The show would probably follow the usual formula of monster-of-the-week or they would have minor set-backs and victories, but no bigger changes into the world.

This show fails! :x

You're wrong. Although they showed too much (especially in the next week episode teaser) you have no idea how they will want to take over the world. Or if they have done it before. Or why they do it. Or how long it really takes. Imo there is plenty to do in a show like this and if they make it like 3-5 seasons thats perfect enough. Also tuesday night TV is now slightly better

Yeah Au-Heppa it is generic, but it's still gonna be epic. You gonna watch "Dancing With the Stars" or the show with walkers and laser beams attached to their friggin head? The show actually received very high ratings. So high it it has not been seen since, well, the LOST premiere:
ABC’s “V” premiere was Tuesday’s highest-rated program in the adult demo, cracking usual leader CBS’ drama-series choke-hold on the evening.

“V” was seen by 13.9 million viewers and had a 5.0 preliminary rating among adults 18-49.

That’s the biggest scripted series premiere rating for a freshman show this fall. And particularly impressive for a show that’s self-starting ABC’s lineup (it’s the highest-rated 8 p.m. drama series debut since … ABC’s “Lost,” actually). Compared to the “Shark Tank” average in the time period, “V” was up a rather dizzying 213%.

“V” bested tough competition from “NCIS” (19.4 million, 4.2), which nonetheless ranked as the evening’s most-watched show. The alien invasion drama gained 4% from its first half hour to its second.

STRIDERS! ATTACK OF THE LIZARD OVERLORDS! RAWRRR! :) *Lol wait a sec. The whole "join the V movement" thing is to be a Combine Metro-cop.

Ok, I saw it, it was very good, the CGI was much better than what was in the trailer, it seems they put half of the mini-series into episode 1 already, I saw who was the mole in the fbi a mile off.

I'm wondering whether all of the versions online are mucked up, early on in the episode, did it cut from the kid talking to an soldier to the church service/guy showing he can walk?

Edit: ****, seems like all the versions I found skipped far into the episode, and then back again.

just watched the pilot episode and it was OK for the most part. What's creepy is that the aliens are acting like scientologists: disinformation, brainwashing, recruitment, promise of miraculous medicine etc.

What I don't like is the "Earth Final Conflict" vibe I'm getting from it. Anyway I'll keep my eye on it, might turn out to be good.

Pilot was good but i am still a bit skeptical. It definitely has some good actors in it.
The meeting scene and the scene that followed reminded me a bit of John Carpenter's They Live.

I don't watch TV.

TV is evil & spreads the devils message, which as we all know, is to eat more popcorn. So no, i'll not watch V on TV.

That being said, I was an avid follower of V back in the 80's & if I remember correctly, watched every episode. Several times. I have been waiting for this series for awhile & as I am too busy either online or playing/gaming with my daughter, I leave the TV watching to my wife. So all I gotta say is thank you God for Hulu.com. The fact that Hulu airs the episodes the day after they air on TV, does not bother me in the slightest.

I also really like how a few of the chars from Firefly are in V.

Second episode confirmed all the "fears" about this show. Boring as hell.

I Haven't heard of this.
The trailer is pretty good though.Good Special Effects.

never saw the old show but to me this is much much better than SG Universe as a sci-fi show.

Great show.
Missed the last 2 eps but got caught up.

Really enjoying it.

edit:
Somewhat underwhelming episode, didn't show all that much but I'm willing to stick around until... what?! MARCH? WHAT THE ****?

Fffuuu.JPG

I gotta wait until March of next year to watch more V? The ending of the latest episode is great though. Gonna be like SPORE in which Will Wright tries to introduce himself to a new planet. They shoot at him and he fires a nuke at the planet. :D

Shows pretty boring. Probably wouldnt even be watching it if I didnt have so much time to waste.

I like it.

Honestly, i never bothered to watch the original series. It wasn't that big in Europe where i lived.
So, i can't really compare the two.
