Just wondering who here is waiting for the inevitable PC version. I am waiting, not though choice i don't have a console :(. Just hope i can avoid all the spoilers. I hope some of you will get the PC version otherwise i will end up multiplaying by myself.

It's going to be hard to avoid spoilers if you're waiting for the PC version. I think I've already been spoilered, but I'm hoping it was a harmless joke.

I know, i bet i get the game spoiled by the end of the week. Ohwell hopefully i'll forget the spoilers before the game comes out.

I haven't seen a single spoiler yet, but I managed to tear myself away from the Achievement list way before I managed to when I was browsing the Bioshock ones. Still, I expected to see or hear something quite major by now but obviously not. Quite odd considering the amount of sites I've been to to watch live streams with annoying chat boxes next to them.

I'm holding out for the PC release (I just don't have the time to commit to multiple formats). I doubt any word will come out about that until after Rockstar have delivered on the 360 DLC this Autumn in case it damages sales though. I'd expect to see GTA IV available Nov/Dec (certainly before Christmas), though I suspect the system specs will be quite considerable.

Definitely waiting for the pc release, though in a different thread, there was a quote from Rockstar that they doubt there will be
a pc release, and now I can't find that thread...

It will come out, R* will lose a large PC fanbase and profits otherwise...

Yep, count me in, I got it already for the 360, I hate playing the mp without mouse and keyboard.

That quote was one of those 'a friend of a friend of a friend, whose next door neighbour lives in Edinburgh said' situations. Until Dan Houser himself says 'I don't want your money PC gamers!!!' I'd take it with a pinch of salt. ;)

I live in Edinburgh... Leith isn't very far from me. I think that's where all the geeky coding is done, so they'd be the ones working on a port if there was one. I think they're all on holiday just now though.

Yah, I'm waiting. The only reason I was annoyed by the original delay was because that meant pushing back the PC version.

And that quote was posted by me, but after a bit more digging around that site, it's only a little over a month old, so it's 99% likely it's all BS. So the only thing that's got me worried is the system specs. Most likely it'll be similar to the specs for Assassin's Creed.

I don't own a console, nor do i play on buying one, so I'm waiting for the PC version.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the PC version.

Until then, a few of my friends have bought the game... And I've already played a bit of the multiplayer.

It's a helluva lot better than SA-MP, I'll tell you that.

Of course it is \o/
I'm just afraid of spoilers. Reviews say the story is very good this time. :O

Yep I'm also waiting for the PC version. I'm not to bothered if I see any spoiler around here or elsewhere, I've never played a GTA game for the story, just to do random stuff in the city.

Now while I'm waiting all I need to know from the people that have played it is if it's better than Vice City (the last GTA I've played).

Well you best hope there is eventually a PC version... because right now Rockstar has said there are absolutely no plans for a PC version.

Source?
It'd seem like a fairly silly decision, because that'd be a whole f*ckload of money they'd be missing out on there.

Also, as for the specs being similar to Assassin's Creed: I (tentatively) doubt it.
Sure, GTA4 looks great and is enormous yadda yadda yadda, but one of the reasons AC's min specs were so high is because Ubisoft are absolutely f*cking rubbish at converting their games to PC.
Compare the awful chug-fest Splinter Cell: Double Agent on the PC was to, say, BioShock. Both ran on similar tech but BioShock looked better and ran like a greased weasel.

We'll see.

Nice to see someone's got their speculation pants on ;)

As much as I'd like a late November release, it seems almost too good to be true.

If I ever was to think about buying any of the series for the PC, a hand held controller would be a must for me. I can't play driving games without them, & even though the driving controls are fairly rudimentary on GTA, I can't hack it on the keyboard. Maybe it's out of habit, but it lends itself so well to a controller imo.

Saying that though, additional content would lend itself well to a PC release. The mods & such would possibly develop in a different way to how they might on the Xbox too (though I am completely ignorant about the Xbox online & how it may work).

I'm buying a console just to play it (& I want to play MGS4 too, so a PS3 I think) & wouldn't have been tempted by the PC release if it had happened at the same time (unless $ was a problem, which it's not in my case )

Im waiting for the PC version, gotta fix my PC so can't afford a console as well!

Holding out for the PC version as well. I don't own a console, because my hands can't handle controllers. Mouse + keyboard ftw.

Let's have some legitimate news source on that one, because personally given there's probably about 3 - 4 million unit sales (?120 -160 million) to be made off a PC release, even with piracy I'm more than skeptical that Rockstar, and more importantly Take 2 and their shareholders, in this time of ever impending financial depression would happily forgo that kind of money. If HL2 cost Valve 40 million to make, I suspect GTA IV was probably double that cost to Rockstar. Even with the big opening weekend I doubt they've actually made a profit yet on sales given the huge amount they've spend on advertising as well. Ultimately they will make a gain for sure, but when your spending the kind of money they undoubtedly have, your not going to pass up on any potential markets unless your CEO is off the rails.

The specs are a worry for me also, but I can't see them being much more demanding than other console ports like Bioshock, etc. surely?

I'd of thought at the most it will be as demanding as Assassins Creed spec wise, which was pretty high end IIRC.

To be correct:

GTA SAN ANDREAS WAS RELEASED 25 OCTOBER 2004
GTA SAN ANDREAS PC VERSION ANOUNCED 16 DECEMBER 2004

= 52 DAYS WAIT DAYS FROM PS2 RELEASE

GTA VICE CITY WAS RELEASED 08 NOVEMBER 2002
GTA VICE CITY PC VERSION ANOUNCED 14 FEBUARY

= 98 DAYS WAIT FROM PS2 RELEASE

Now we need to wait for GTA IV

What you have to also account for though is that Rockstar have some obligations to Microsoft over exclusive downloadable content for Autumn, and it's unlikely they are going to announce a PC release before then as it might have a detrimental effect upon XBL sales of the DLC with people holding out for a more rounded PC version instead. Before Christmas for sure, but probably announced in September.

I'm getting it for the PC, which will be superior to both console versions in graphics, control, multi-player, and content.

Good things come to those who wait. :)

Beyond fantastic things already came to those who waited for today.

See you in 7 to 8 months!

Ill wait for the PC version unless I can afford a console before then.

I will wait for PC even though I have a perfectly good 360 sitting on my floor right over there which I refuse to ever play again out of spite. I will be selling it shortly.

Thanks for betatesting the game for us. Remember to complain about bugs to Rockstar, okay?

I Am not waiting for the PC version and i never have.
But once it comes out i usually use the console version towards its purchase though.
The PC versions have always been superior and with the addition of multiplayer in this installment, you can expect to see some great online mods for it.

in this time of ever impending financial depression

Once again: Ubisoft suck at ports to PC. Rockstar are actually a competent (to say the least) development house.

Got a mini-update regarding that German retailer listing on the blog ;)
