I can't believe that a high profile game like could be leaked. If you don't believe it, check out the torrent sites. tis a shame that almost every good game is getting leaked before release.

There's always a reviewer who lets his copy go out. Even Valve games, like RDKF get leaked and that says it all.

RDFK is not a Valve game.

Yeah, and its a good thing people like you are telling people when and where to go look for it too. Reminds me of Geraldo in Iraq--another example of just not using good judgement.

I'm not quite sure where else you would primarily go to look when a game gets leaked...

Not really the point--All I am saying is that any news about it shouldn't be yelled from the rooftops. The more people that hear this, the more that might be more inclined to screw over the dev teams and the publisher by essentially stealing all their hard work, even if they hadn't been interested in doing-so before. Its just thoughtless and irresponsible IMHO.

??

If someone wanted to hack/steal the game that badly I'm sure they'd know exactly where to go find it already. What he said is nothing more than common sense

Not the point, he's right it shouldn't be spread around the entire internet.

Word of mouth will get it downloaded faster. People who come to these forums only (or any other forum for that matter) will find out that they can now download it because of this. I go to hardly any other gaming forum than this, and if I were an ass then I would go download it now, since I now know its been leaked.

I still think that games should only be reviewed after release. I think thats a smart move, since it makes it so reviewers can review a FULLY completed game, and stops this leaking bullshit.

Yeah if games get leaked you shouldn't really post about it, your just spreading the leak. I had no clue Fable: The Lost Chapters was leaked until one of you guys made a thread about it. That caused me to rush out and download it in excitement.

I had no clue either, but all it made me do is....
Daa I could care less bout pirating.

Uh, yeah, but every game is put on the Internet illegally eventually, it just depends on when. It doesn't matter if it gets distributed a day after release or a week before, the person downloading's still not going to buy it, or would ever have been in the frame of mind to.

Exactly, but as with anything, the less word of mouth there is, the less popular it will be. Period.

Please do not pirate AoE III. You'd be hurting Microsoft Games.

I've got a pre-order on the thing. Demo was okay in my opinion.

Ohwell figures it would be leaked, AOE is a popular series after all.

I don't think you get what I'm saying. It's fairly safe to say that someone planning to pirate the game wouldn't buy it anyway, so it doesn't matter when they do it, it's the principal that they will do it anyway. Trying to cover it up now won't stop word-of-mouth, as when a game actually does hit retail it's usually pirated by then, meaning that those who didn't hear about it before because of this 'cover up' would download it then anyway.

Geez, and I don't think you get what I am saying. Here's a scenario: A normal person wants to get a game. Nine times out of ten, this person will go to the store or digitally download it legitimately. However, if this person hears about a way that he/she can get their hands on the same $50 game for free, they might be more inclined to do so or at least look into it, thus furthering their own temptation.

I agree that anyone interested in piracy will do whatever they can whenever they can to get the game. That is understood. But for someone who hasn't tried pirating games, just hearing about it might be enough to get them interested in the process, thus propagating the problem. So, the less word of mouth there is, the less potential piracy there will be. If no one talked about it, saying what games are available from what sites, then it would stay within the illegal community and that community's illegal activity wouldn't have a chance to spread. It would be isolated and hopefully shrivel up and cease to exist. Yes, I know, "Won't ever happen," but I am sort of an idealist :).

http/ftp/irc ftw.

it was rumoured it was missing a few features, but that seems to be untrue.

when popular games are leaked, its going to get out to the public. there's no stopping it. I dont think this thread changes anything.

really? that's truly crazy it got out so early, especially if it's complete

it's just a 'press release' version of the game (still 100% and no watermarks oranything); that's why it got out early, they wanted some reviews to be online/in magazines when the game was launched.

most games are early now anyway, rdkf, black and white 2, aoe3 and so on.

all the cracking/delivery groups are always asking for people who work @ stores, magazines and so on who get early copies.

That arguement about how people who download it wouldnt have bought it is getting old as hell. That may describe a few people, but not most of them. I know at least ten people in real life who used to buy all their games, now I dont think they have bought a single one in a year. Its not just people who "would never have gotten it anyways" that download it, its anyone who wants to save 50 bucks, or even just get it early.
