AoE3 Demo?

i was not really that impressed, i QFT suicide's post. im really looking forward more to supreme commander.

It was fun but not that special.

I have to say it was very satisfying blowing the shit out of various buildings with artillery and whatnot.

the explosions/destructions of buildings are really good ( from artillery/rockets/cannons ).

upon playing it more i am definitely buying this game. it was very beautiful rushing the enemies city, and seeing my redcoats torch their town center. the artillery was spot on, and it seems very balanced and i can see some excellent online games.

Downloaded, installed, restarted, clicked the .exe and my computer crashed :(

Cheers, but I'm on FP and getting a decent rate... it's just the waiting, plus the fact I have to go out around the time it'll finish :(

Arggghh everytime I go anywhere near the indian camp, the game crashes! And I need their help!

i enjoyed the hour or so i spent with it last night, if you like AoE then you should like this, and there's enough innovations to keep it fun

btw, why are everyone's d/ls so slow? I d/led it in about 5 mins. last night from the microsoft page

I thought it was terribly boring and there was nothing new. uninstalled.
It wasn't totally boring for me, but it played exactly the same as the other AoE's. Why is it that RTS's have barely evolved since the early days. New trading post features and that card thinger just don't cut it.

Just checked out some screenshots of this, looks pretty damn cool. Will download this when I get home, can someone post the file size of the demo, if anyone can be bothered.

The demo is 365MB.

Really wish i could play this, damn my gfx card for dying on me.

Had a great skirmish for an hour, lot of fun. And no crashes! :D

But now it won't load. Double click the exe, my computer turns off instantly. I think I've had enough of these problems, the demo is great but I don't think I'll be playing again until release :(

Edit - I turned off temporal AA and set AA to application preference, and it works again?

I was up until 2am last night playing this demo. Lots of new stuff to add to the fun: homecities, cards, deliveries, trains, cool destruction physics, awesome-looking water effects and more!

It still plays very much like all of the earlier AoE games, but does, in fact, look better, though it still doesn't look like many of the screenshots they have released. I have turned everything up to the highest possible setting and still can't get my homecity to look as amazing as some of them look in the official screenshots. No matter, though--the game is so much fun it doesn't matter.

I am a huge fan of the new time period and it really does offer so much to the gameplay. A very interesting period in history indeed.

I have yet to see a tree falling on someone or debris from a razed building hurt units...maybe its not in there yet? And are there any HDR effects? I thought there were supposed to be, but I have yet to see them in-game.

Great game--I can't wait!

Yet another solid RTS from ES. Many people prefer different types of RTS, some like just fighting no economy and huge armies. But not me, the reason why I like the AOE series is becase it balances the economy and army together.

It looks like it plays a little bit slower than AOE2 so I guessing the average game for multiplayer 2v2 will be around 40 min.

I can already see some strategies with the early rushing on the native tribes and having tribe wars. And maybe an early trade route boom?

It's pretty good, but I can't help but feel a slight air of dissapointment about it. There are some nice new innovations, but a lot of it does feel quite stale. I'll naturally be buying it, but I have a feeling I might be enjoying Black and White 2 a bit more.

I don't know what you guys are talking about, if they made it a totally different game it wouldn't be AOE and more people would be pissed off. I personally am fine with playing AOE2 with new innovations and graphics, it's AOE for christs sake, what were you expecting?

Now THAT is an RTS I'm looking forward to :upstare:

Fab!

Just what I wanted. Sure, there aren't a ton of innovations, but frankly, I never really wanted them. Personally, I've enjoyed this most out of any RTS I've played recently. The units felt well balanced, the animations were nice and convincing, and the National Explorer was a fun aspect. Finding treasure was like a silly mini-game.

So anyone got proper opinons on EE2 vs AoE3?
Im looking forward to CoH, and when Blizzard finally pleases tons of people with Starcraft 2.

Ive never been a big AoE fan. Im more of a Starcraft kinda guy. Specifically considering Starcrafts UMS gaming and how much it has evolved over it's 8 years.

AoE3 already and it's only an unfinished demo. I don't care how similar it is to the other AoE games, I'll still get it. And I haven't owned an AoE game since the first one. About time I re-instated myself.

By the way, something that helps with the graphical quality is to turn 'camera zoom' to very far in the options - you get a slightly more broader view of the battlefield, which means you're not zoomed in on the building and unit textures as much.

Meh, not very exciting imo. It's not my kinda gameplay I guess. And the graphics aren't spectacular either. Prolly great if u love the series, but I was quite underwhelmed.

can't install the demo, it gives me an error right before the installation is over... damn computer...could it be because i dont have SP2 to Xp yet?

UNDERWHELMING. I'm disappointed.

So what did you think about EE2's Demo?
Or did you forget to play it?
