DX9? Not that much... Its what, 100+ DX8 shaders and 4 DX9 shaders?

At any rate, its far from true DX9. They have already programmed in the pixel precision hints for FX cards, and it seems to fall back on PS1.4, which isnt DX9...

Bah! I'm boycotting it, so I wont even download it. Reality... Pff... Yeah, MAYBE if the Detonators didnt cheat. Here's a comparison someone did:

ATI Cat 3.4 number of unique colors in frame 4000: 133623
ATI Cat 3.7 number of unique colors in frame 4000: 133615
Det 44.03 number of unique colors in frame 4000: 143800
Det 45.23 number of unique colors in frame 4000: 123900
Det 51.75 number of unique colors in frame 4000: 120694

That's a massive cut in colors for Nvidia. Most seem to come from loss of lighting quality btw. My guess, the official Nvidia driver will do they same, they want the speed. Which will render another benchmark obsolete.

So is it a reality benchmark? Kind of, current detonators and catalysts render the screen fairly equal, even I see 44 drivers being prettier than Cat 3.7 sometimes! (and sometimes not. it equal out, but on select spots on can see it).

Will it be a reality benchmark? Nope, as soon as the new Detonators are official, it wont be.

A 3D benchmark by definition have to render something EXACTLY the same on two different cards to the best of their abilities. When it doesnt... It ceases to be a benchmark. 3DMark is obsolete. This will be too. I hope the HL2 benchmark wont be.

I got a 40847 without changing graphic settings and I am on a P4 3.6 Gig, with 512 MB ram, with a 9800 pro... so if you got 80k you must have a crazy overclocked rig or you changed the graphics around.
