That's potentially because it's such a large 'country', the population means statistically you're more likely to find the extremes.

Not if those people are intelligent enough to see that even though they may be getting more money, that money isn't worth as much as if somebody actually went and fixed things.

In Sulkdodds' quote you were replying to he mentioned dumb and smart Americans, not old and young ones. But you're right, young people tend to vote less. That was partly fixed during last year's election though.
 
I know that, I was attributing the fact that most "stupid" Americans are the ones living off of welfare because they don't do anything but live off the government. They are the ones that are voting, this includes everyone who I am supporting through my taxes. The retirement age was set at 65 and has never changed. Life expectancy has gone up and therefore so should the retirement age. I was making an allusion that the stupid people were the ones complaining about the economy, when they were the ones dragging it down.

Of course not. But then there are old people intelligent enough to see that. There's no point saying only old people or all old people think like this, because if you're simply stereotyping, you can make the same stereotype for every class of person.

10% are total retards (rednecks, white thrash, ghetto idiots, extremists,...)
40% of them are borderline self willing idiots (people that voted for Bush and are regular republican party supporters)
40% are ordinary people who don't really question their life, morals,... but like to adhere to modern values (voters for the democratic party)
10% the top educated, intelligent elite (scientists, scholars, smart and successful entrepreneurs, a few politicians, some military folk,...)


you can see that if we add the first two groups together (plus marginal percentages from other groups) we come to the portion that got bush elected twice...which is safe to say that most of them are of questionable intelligence/awareness/ability to reason.
 
speaking of stupid people, i have this new associate in my department that has all ready ratted me and my friend out. i didn't work today but I'll get in trouble on Wed for having pop on the sales floor. this is ridiculous because she has also done a lot of stupid things in return but i never told management about it. my friend from told me that she's been going around talking behind people's backs. i hate people like that, we all ready have 2 bitches in my department that act like douchbags for no reason. I'm nice to these people too, and i bring in candy and stuff for them. i think they're just jealous i get hit on more than they do

Videos like this make me so angry. They're so misleading and don't represent the populace at all.

Most Americans are perfectly level-headed and reasonably intelligent people. It's the idiots you guys see on the news all the time that create the false stereotypes for Americans.

yeah they are pretty unrepresentative. go to Austrailia, take a few hill billies from there and drop them next to someone from Alabama and you'd swear they were cousins who wear cutoffs and sandals with a large beer belly.

I find it sad that so many are so quick judge the United States by the actions of a few. We have our problems true, but I love my country & am happy to call myself an American.

I am 34 & have traveled to 6 different countries & have lived in 3 for several years. I would not do that now, let alone taking my family along with me. That is with the exception of going to Canada, New Zealand or Australia. Those three countries are wonderful. The others, I would honestly fear for my own or my families lives.

I hate to tell you that it's not just Americans (and by Americans, I assume you mean United States citizens) that are stupid, but most of the word's population.
 
They're not stupid. They simply don't know what responsibility is, and it makes them look ignorant. They don't have to care about politics, third-world country/world problems, and so on. There's always someone at top taking care of business, deciding what is wrong, or right for them.

So what they do: they spend their entire life to have fun. We, rest of the world - bitch about anything; politicians, conferences, etc. Honestly, I don't know which side is stupid, USA or us.

racist in the fact that we cut people's hands off, or racist in the fact that we whip people in the streets?? I'm confused. We may have been one of the most racist nation but we're far from it now. Other countries are committing genocide right now and I'm pretty sure they're doing far worse things than our bickering in the US
 
It's mainly only from personnal experience, so I can't say this is scientifically accurate, but most americans I've met were racists or at least sounded they were.
But, hey, I'm open minded, prove my wrong and I'll concede.

I guess I could agree with you that some third world nations may be worse, but how can they compare to an industrialized country? I hope that's not your better argument because if "hey, Qatar and Darfur are worse than us, so it's not bad!" is not really convincing.
I'll give you that though, America is not the most racist country in the world, just the most racist western/industrialized country.

Why would I say that America is racist as a country? Let's just take a simple exemple (that you probably heard before): 2900 (let's make it 3000) people died on 9/11. In "retaliation", the us invaded Iraq (which had done nothing to provoke the US) and Afghanistan (whose regime it had put in power) and caused the death of how many innocent civilians? Let's be generous and say "only" 100 000 died (there are higher numbers but let's be conservative), i still see it as "americans lives are worth more than those of these dirty arabs".

And the US has the worst situation in the western world in terms of social and economical divide between the whites and non-whites (IE: the country were the non whites have it the hardest).

But hey, you can show an another side of the US, I'm all for it, I'm open for discussion.

Almost half the country I'd say is more liberally minded. And I'd dare say most of them are not racist. And a fair chunk of the right are even not racist.

Racism is prevalent in the United States today... but barely does it take a violent turn. Racism isn't an on or an off thing. There's many levels... degrees of racism. In many other countries the racism is often violent and leads to things like genocide and shit. We have violent racists here in the States... KKK and some others, but it's far more limited and is never anymore widespread and as devastating as witnessed in other countries.
