I'm starting to loose my connection with computer gaming. CS just gets boring after a while, and I spend all day downloading a stupid mod, play it once and never play the mod again. Whats the matter with me? Maybe its because I'm getting old. :(

I'm with you, I find I spend a lot of time just jerkin it. Literally and figuratively.

Too much damn work. Barely even touch games any more. Maybe once a week at most.

Etc.

Bored of CS? try DoD! :D

I guess games have been getting kinda boring/depressing for me lately too, but thats why Im waiting for some hardcore next-gen games :sniper:

Most games are boring. It takes something special to get me going nowadays.

Take Pariah for example,. rehashed action, nothing new, bored me to tears. Talk about a complete lack of creativity.
Psychonauts, however, was a good twist on the platform genre with lots of variation. Loved that one. And I have high hopes for F.E.A.R., and am interested in Call of Cthulhu and Prey.

I just played through the demo for Area 51 and was pleasantly supprised. Graphics are nowhere near our beloved HL2, but the engine is fast, the effects are definitly interesting, and it has some truely amusing areas. (such as the the moon landing set)

Games need to take a step out of the ordinary to get me excited. Running around shooting people just doesnt do it anymore. Games need perception altering effects and unexpected events firing on all cylinders to break down the barriers of believability.

(either that, or offer genuinly new expereinces or leaps forward in technology)

Depends on the game. (I know I've posted this rant somewhere else before...) I'll still play Doom 3 when I want scary sounds and a fun time with my girlfriend. I'll play HL2 when I want to play with things and AVP2 or Halo when I want action. I'm still playing through Scrapland, and there are enough new games coming out that I've usually got something new all the time.

again; half-life 2. I think we can honestly sum it up like this: action games suck besides half-life2. it set the bar way too high and it's too fresh in our heads. games will catch up soon and we will be blown away, just like the first time.

You're just going crazy

Swallow a dozen of happy pills or something ;)

Edit: fixed typo

Perhaps. Developers aren't taking bold new steps in the right direction, they are re hasing the old and attempting to splash it with a deceptive coat of paint - that wears thin when playing the actual game.

Devs need to start doing something different with their games, making things interesting...there is nothing good coming out of them except what I've played before. HL2 was the right direction - physics, artistic levels and intruiging storyline made for a new step.

Come on developers get your thinking caps on.

Just wait for HL3, Aftermath, UT2K6, Unreal 3 and Black Mesa:Source.

Yea, i cant play anymore
i hope AOE3 and FEAR live to the hype :(

same here m8, i was hardcore gamer before, but now , meh.. only 1 h of UT04 just to steam off from all day work.
i realy hope BF2 will make me happy for some time...

san andreas next week, problem solved. I also havent played much in awhile either, mostly cod:uo mp. thats it. Bf2 will be out soon too. :)

Lately, Making ultra-realistic graphics is the new trend among devs.
Nobody cares about making an innovative game anymore(except a few like Spore)...It's just a race to
see who can make the best graphical effects...

I havent enjoyed a game in ages, im really losing intrest in games....maybe im getting old :S

I've been playing Freelancer recently, havn't played much before (or apart from) that though.

We're getting older and so are the game devs. There's a 4 out of 5 chance a game will flop, so can you blame them for not taking chances ?

lol, bored of CS? Hasn't pretty much everyone been bored of CS since it released?

Splinter Cell 3 is maybe the first game I've bought in a long time I still play 3 weeks after I buy it

My computer's fuxxed at the minute so it makes it difficult to play PC games ( FPSs anyway), even so I usually buy a game, complete it in one or two sittings then never revisit it, so yeah, I'm playing less than I used to. When I was younger I never used to complete games.

I find taking a break for a month or so and doing something else before coming back to games keeps me keen.

I tend to look about for games that offer something new, or a little different.

Also, gaming is most fun when the experience is shared. Invite friends round for some Bomberman, Worms, Street Fighter etc etc. Play 4 player sports games, get out the dance mats/light guns/fishing rods.

Gaming is always great fun - just not when you're sitting on your own with the curtains drawn, playin the same games you've been playing for years.

Well im still young and bold so i never get bored of games, your all blasphimus (or however its spelt :p)

I've recently been hooked on Supreme Ruler 2010, one of the best geopolitical strategy games ever.:)

I totally agree, half the reason I come to this forum is because there's nothing else to do... The only games I play now are Guild Wars and Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (PC).

Are games getting Boring?

Yes, the older I get, the more boring games get. Well, most. There's always games you can play on LAN for a looong time... but back in the old days I used to play Kingpin through ~8 times.

yep, unfortunately.

the only game I am playing (occasionally) is BF:V, and that's only because I am amped up about BF2.

games are becoming increasingly boring, with shorter and shorter replayability, but there's still some hope...

I spend most of my time playing my guitar and browsing these forums waiting on BF2 ;)

Games nowadays tend to be showcases of some kind of "new" technology, and the problem is that these games are showcases first and games second (with a few exceptions). These are usually interesting at the start, but once the "hey, that's cool!" aspect of the technology wears off, there's usually not much of a game left to play. Games today seem to be getting the watered-down treatment, where many developers fail to put some much-needed effort into polishing and balancing the gameplay mechanics that made many of the past games so enjoyable.

It also doesn't help that the entire entertainment industry has gone into overkill. When one company puts out a great product, about 20 others follow suit (releasing pretty much the same game with only a few differences). One only has to look at WWII themed shooters to see what I'm getting at. :hmph:
The industry is so diluted with these copy-cats and half-assed games that it becomes a real quest to find one that's worth playing.

My theory is that this has discouraged gamers from spending. They have lost a lot of faith, and in turn have become very picky. It's not like the olden days when you could go to the store, pick any game on the shelf, and have that game entertain you for at least a couple of hours; much unlike today where the odds of getting a good game is based on pure luck. :dozey:

One of the reasons why I'm looking forward to the Nintendo Revolution is that I can essentially go back and play all the classic Nintendo games from an era where gaming was at it's best.

I have to say that was a brilliant little speech and that i totally agree with you, however i'm not really bored of any games recently, seem to be fairly happy and the Nintendo Classics were Ledgend  (Im a huge Ninty Fan), however i am really really excited and cannot wait for the Xbox 360, after watching the Hour and a half presentation at E3 on it i cannot see many gamers getting bored too easily, what with the huge amount of features that are being put into it, it's going to be great, which can't be said for the PS3 (Pukes in disgust of the thought of Sony making another worthless console).

Yes, boring if you play games 6> hours a day.

make no mistake, playing game 1-3 hours a day is the best rating.

Doctor recommendation is 1 hour/day.

I agree. Gaming is not very important to me anymore at all. I hardly ever play video games anymore.

The cost of development for games nowadays are so high that developers can't take chances unless their name is Will Wright. Every thing is run through the tried and true formula for success. Cross platformers are diluting the quality even further on top of that. Everything is dumbed down for the crappiest console then released on the PC. Take area 51 for example.

People are still buying games so developers feel like they're doing the right thing. Until gamers put their money where their mouth is and stop buying crap games, this practice will continue. Personally I've boycotted any cross platformers and I'll only buy top of the line AAA titles that I've already played before.

If the entire industry fell apart overnight, I wouldn't care at all.

I use to game all the time. I got an $1800 computer just for gaming, nothing else. I rarely use it anymore. I've bought several games in the last few months and havn't finished one of them, bleh. Hopefully San Andreas will revive something.

When my cousin said that games were getting boring for him, I was like "Woah, that's not going to happen to me." Heh. I need something, different now. SOmething that sets the game away from the crowd. Not just another RPG, or another FPS. Something with creativity and a good story.

Crappiest Console ???? The X-box is the best console to date until the 360 and it's on that, i also have Area 51 for it and i'm not dissapointed by it, its a good game.
