Are healthier foods less expensive in other nations?

i have a very small taste for junk food...it's just so....eh

^Same

I never liked it much as a kid even. I was an odd one because I preferred spinach and carrots.

Also, I used to give all my Halloween candy away because in fact, that was my least favorite holiday at that age as I was forced to dress up so I could aggravate complete strangers in their homes for a bunch of viscous, nasty pieces of sugar I had no interest in.

What really bugs me is that it's very difficult, if not impossible, to get healthy food out. I could make sandwiches, which is only any cheaper than buying lunch out if you use the shittest quality stuff. The cost of making a lunch that's nice, healthy AND filling is ridiculous. And the time and effort just isn't worth it, I don't spend a lot of time at home and when I am at home I can't be arsed to make sandwiches. Defo not in the morning when I struggle to get up anyway.

Sandwiches/pasta salads etc from the supermarket are generally awful for you. They cram them full of cheese, bacon, mayo and things like that...all of which I love, but you can't eat them every day! And a single sandwich isn't enough food, yet still most of them have over 600 calories in and loads of fat and salt.

You can get the odd "healthy option", but they taste crap and you wouldn't want to eat it every day. Other than that, your choices are the local bakers or what have you (again, they stuff everything full of cheese, bacon or mayo and bread itself is also really calorific, probably 500 calories in just the baguette before you even put anything in it). Fast food, need I say any more?

The local caff is always good grub and reasonable, but again it's all deep fried stuff. Fine if you're a manual labourer, terrible if you sit in an office all day.

I don't eat unhealthily by choice, usually just because it's such a pain in the arse or too expensive to eat well.

Then if you want dinner out, again, none of it is healthy. It's not always convenient to eat at home. If you do eat at home, the healthy stuff is expensive and time-consuming to make. What can you do?

I used to be cool with junkfood until my brother turned into a Krishna Cook and showed me the wonderful world of organic ingredients.

An apple is so much better for the munchies than a chocolate bar.

I know exeactly what you mean. I used to grab lunch at McDonalds periodically through the week because it was fast and easy, didn't even have to get out of the car. It seems as though the FDA wants a future comprised of really fat and lazy people, considering the fact that you can't drive for 5 minutes without seeing those golden arches, at least where I live.

Although I gave up fast food, I'm still not eating great. I'm with repiv with the whole "I don't have time to make a nice lunch in the morning". The good news is I am moving in with my girlfriend and she loves to cook. I think I have it all figured out :p

Make your sandwich the night before and leave it in the fridge.

Healthier food is more expensive here. Ofcourse considering that canned foods are unhealthy so as microwavable food. Basically the easier to prepare ones are cheaper, and usually the easier to prepare ones are unhealthy :p. BUT ofcourse in another sense, Olive Oil (Healthier) is a tad more expensive that normal cooking oil.

$7.00 for bananas? I find that unbelievable. Either you bought a small banana tree or you live in New York.

Yeah I just bought some last week (Texas), think they were 60-70 cents a pound. 6 rather large bananas was just over 3 bucks or so. Don't remember exactly, just that it was surprisingly cheap.

Wait, I thought you hated preservatives DEATHMASTER. :p
I do but those bastards are practically in everything. But anyways like Lays chips (and a number of others) have only potato, oil, and salt as the ingredients. The burritos probably are ****ed with preservatives but I've had them since I was a young kid (though tbh I haven't had them in a long time).
