Are the Moderators doing their jobs?

Razor, in response to a few of your comments, I'd first of all like to reiterate what a few other staff members said.

Every single report we receieve is acted upon. Usually within one hour. I'd also like to mention, if it hasn't been already, that our last reported post from a user was 24 hours ago now. The moderators cannot read every single post made on the forum. That would account for thousands every day. This means that dealing with troublesome posts is very much down to people reporting them to us, which at the moment people aren't doing.

In response to the reports you've made, I've gone back through a month's worth of reported posts and found only three belonging to you. These three were all acted upon within one hour of you making the report, from what I can tell. You clearly seem to be getting confused. What you want to be acted upon and what actually does, depends entirely on you reporting it to us in most cases. Unless of course it's seen when a moderator is doing their rounds of recent posts.

I'd also just like to explain how the reported posts feature works on this forum.

We have a hack in place, wherein when you press the ! button to report a post and add your text, instead of it reporting it by e-mail to all moderators, it places the reported post in the hidden Reported Posts forum. This actually looks like the person who is reporting the post has actually physically gone into the forum and posted it. The reports come out like this:

Tell them to clean up their Inbox now and then :)

Thread: [thread=85972]Mod status = unlimited pm's[/thread]

Reason Given: This message is spam.

PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD WHEN DEALT WITH
When we're dealing with a reported post, the moderator will post in it with the word "Sorted" to let other moderators know it's been dealt with. When the appropriate action is taken, we go back to the thread listing in the reported post forum and double click on it to close it. I could show you a screenshot of all the reported posts we've receieved recently to show they're all closed and posted in, but I'd have to go through and sensor the member names to hide the identity of those that may have reported others. Anyway, that's how it works, that's how it's worked for the last 18 months, that's how it's always going to work and it's also the best and efficient way for it to work.

So, in conclusion, there is nothing at all wrong with the moderating, but an extra effort needs to be made by you guys so we can deal with all your problems efficiently and quickly.

Thanks.

All of the posts I reported have been met with swift efficiency actually.

Razor, I don't mind you, in fact I like you a bit, but this is a really whiney post. They do what they can.

Chris_D, that's a great system :)

Offtopic question: Doesn't it require a lot of time to install those hacks when you get a new version of vB?

I suggested to another forum for example to use the /me hack, but they said their webmaster didn't have the time to keep himself busy with such things. And they said that support from vB drops if you use hacks.

I was just wondering :)
