Are there any websites that tell you how to use Hammer?

I know the SDK JUST came out yesterday, but I'm banking on it being pretty similar to the previous SDK, and an existing tutorial website might get me on my feet.

I've done a TEENSY bit of mapping with UT, but that's about it. I've NEVER done any Valve-specific mapping. So, when I open up Hammer, I'm kinda lost.

I've seen the vavle-erc site, but it seems to assume you already understand the basics, and it jjst tells you WHAT each funtion does, as opposed to HOW to do it, ya know?

If I'm simply on my own to figure it out, that's cool. But, I'd rather not spin my wheels if there's a better way.

I can write something if you want. You just want to know the basics?

Ultimately, here's what was going through my head.

Back when I started UT mapping, I stubled across a website that walked you through a simple map. How to set it up, and to use the different brushes, and to apply textures, etc. It had all sorts of screenshots, etc.

I'd love to find something like that for Hammer. Now, I really appreciate your offer to write something up, and I'll take any help that you can offer - GLADLY! But, you might consider putting a lil' site together as a "see Spot run" guide to Hammer. I guarantee if I'm looking for something like that, there are many others who aren't asking. :)

Just my 2 cents'...

I think this should be a stick thread for us people who dont no so people can add other tutorials and other little goodies.

Just a thought not a request

Thamks, yet I still get

1. Set environment variable 'VPROJECT' to the path where gameinfo.txt is.
2. Place 'C:\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\azz0r\counter-strike source\cstrike\maps\testmap' below the path where gameinfo.txt is.
3. Add -game <path> on the command line where <path> is the directory that gameinfo.txt is in.

When I try and run it :/

azzor, make sure all your paths are right in the configuration, i had this problem for a while :)

go to http://www.valve-erc.com/srcsdk/ if you dont know what i mean
it tells you how to set up

Thanks for the website, oldfaq! I now have a room with a light. Unfortunately, I can only spectate with it. I keep getting the "no info_player_start" error in the console, even though I added one. Any thoughts?

Me too :(

Adamkelt, i got it, you need a info_player_terrorist & an info_player_counterterrorist :D

Looks like info_player_start is for SP.

azz0r, I assume you've preloaded HL2, right? I think that's necessary.
