men usually sit at both extremes of intelligence, where as women sit somewhere in the middle.

From what I've seen, there doesn't seem to be much of that going around; bear in mind you have more say in who your female friends are than your male

Look at the bar graph, remind you of something?

heh.

The poll has spoken! Now we know which sex is the dominant one!

Why shouldb't they be in the military? There's no study in the world that shows that women aren't as fit for standard military service as men. Sure, they might not be able to run as long, but they sure are as good, if not better at aiming and commanding.

But ir's mainly just defenitions of words, and it's no big deal.

Wrong. Women are weaker than men, purely by nature. If all the women wanted to go to war then we'd have noone to watch our kids. The way things go now are fine. Women can choose to join the military if they want to, I don't support a draft for women.

As I say, sexism is defined as discrimination based purely on gender.

I do not consider denying a man or a woman a position due to their inadequate intellect or physical prowess any kind of sexism.

You're a weed like me? Don't complain that you didn't pass the SAS's selection tests.

You're an idiot? Don't complain that you weren't chosen to represent your country on our next space station.

And don't dare bring your gender/age/race/religion into it.

But I have to agree that equal rights activists cannot maintain their current double standards. Take this example; a few years ago, here in Britain, we converted an all-male prison into a womens' prison, and changed very little of our practises. And yet there was an outcry because of the conditions there- they "weren't suitable for women".

Bear in mind that the complainers fully recognised that the conditions had been similarly dire- and legal- back when it was a mens' jail. So what was their point? A female murderer shouldn't be punished as much as her male equivalent? That's just the kind of sexism these types claim to be fighting.

Believing in equality doesn't mean you're feminist.

Sexism means either way (Men, or women) feel their gender is superior.

There has also in recent time been a push for men's rights in more female matters. EG: There's a group out there that fights for Father's rights in custody court, as most often even when the mother is a horrid parent, the children go to her because it's the mother and father's have a disadvantage.

It seems to me that most people base thier opinions of the sexes on what the extremes of each do. Example= Most women base thier view of men off of how Most TV shows portray them, and thats slobbish. Men base their views of women off of the constant femanist rallies, and tend to think most women are femenist. Thats just the way it looks anyway.

Women are objects whooo hooo hey go get me a beer. Feminist is not men=women thats an equalist.

Why can't the men look after the children? Women make excellent commanders, since they tend to keep calm in battle.

because we don't have "maternal instincts"

Just because women may be inferior physically (in general) doesn't mean we should be prejudiced against them during the selection of candidates for a physically demanding task. Why should a male be given preferential treatment over a female of equal strength just because males in general are stronger than females? Why bother taking into account the gender when what really matters is the physical strength?

And yes, this poll is biasted, but political forums are not known for its neutrality, are they?
Can't fault him on that one...

I'd rather not get into this debate, but it is certainly far from a broad-minded poll (in terms of options, at least). Truth be told, going by your poll options I'd probably put myself just over the feminist side of the fence, but I'm certainly not a feminist.

However this has appeared to get down and dirty with the "women in the military" debate. I have no problem one way or the other to be honest - if they want to fight, let them, says I.

What about women in the workplace? What about society's lingering stigmas and expectations of women? What about the portrayal of women in the media?

I dunno - this is what some people tell me, but then I just give 'em a slap on the arse and let them get on with their knitting, once they've gotten me a cup of tea.

Why bother taking into account the gender when Physical strength matters? Because men are almost always stronger than women. And if its a choice between a normal guy and a woman weightlifter, I would go with the normal guy, because Women wieghtlifters scare me. :x

when it's a game of "duck the bullet", it's brain over brawn every time

"wha? a duck? where? is it a fuzzy duck? aww he's so cu.....<thud>" :E

I don't think the issue was about women being weightlifters, it was just about ordinary women. An ordinary woman can be physically tough too, without being a disproportionate body builder.

It was a joke. And yes, women can be physically tough too, but not usually as physically tough as a man.

I wouldn't say that too flippantly - a lot of it's down to training. I'm sure you could find a woman who's being doing a martial art of some kind for a while who could take out some stupid hulking wanker fairly easily.

Whether men are usually stronger than women or not is irrelevant, even tho' it's pretty much irrefutable; the point is that people should be judged individually, and not as part of a group. That's the upshot of all this.

what if one guy is stronger then the other guy? does it mean that the weaker guy can't join the military or get the equal pay as the strong guy? it's bs

women should stay women, men should stay men
