Love him or hate him, John Carmack is arguably the best game programmer in the world, and id are some of the best developers. The engine will be top-notch, they won't forget to put things like an easy quicksave option in, the multiplayer will perform perfectly, and of course the game will be optimized to near-perfection. It's pretty much a given with these guys.
