Chinese as my primary languange.

English as my second.

Sorry about the shit poll, couldn't think of how to pull it off.

Hier leben K:angurus und Koalas. Ich bin nicht dick und Ich bin sehr intelligent!

I know how to speak English, Punjabi and French. I did start to learn German for 1 year, and quite frankly I can barely remember anything.

Swedish as my mothertongue. English is perhaps the language I know second best. And Finnish as my third language. I tried to learn French, but cba learning all the different verbs, was a pita.

Oh I live in Finland.

Cool maxi I didn't thought you spoke swedish that well

Swedish is my mothertounge too and I live in sweden, English as a second language. Learned a little bit of french and german in school but it's not something that's of much use now.

it's "Le singe est dans L'ARBRE"

ffs :p

First language is Dutch, and French is stomped into our anuses at a young age (when you're 8 D: ) so that's quite alright too. And because of hardcore computer gaming starting at the age of 7, my knowledge of the English language has progressed far faster than anyone else in my direct viscinity.

I win \0/

I've always found your english particularly well-formed even though it's your second language. I've heard that the Swedes are usualy conversant with english since the movies aren't translated in swedish, only the subtitles are. Is it true?

BTW, it's either Le singe est sur la branche or Le singe est dans l'arbre.

English mother****er! Do you speak it!?

my girlfriend is english/japanese/french
i'm "english and bad english"

English main language, and with over 5 years being tought it, i can't speak Welsh. Stupid, i can't speak the language of the country i was born and live in :|

I hate my second Language (German) but my German teacher basically tells the class without a German Qaulification we're going to fail at life :x

I've also been learning Spanish for 3 years now. Since the grammar is quasi similar to the french's, I handle this language relatively easily.

i speak russian and english, and i am currently learning spanish.

Finnish, Estonian, English, crappy Russian and a little bit German.

Beerdude speaks better English than half the native English speakers on this forum

Seriously though, I generally pride myself on my spelling capabilities and grammar. Especially since I never payed attention in school.

English, then French (its funny, I spent the majority of my schooling learning it (and I'm still learning now), and yet I'm still not great at it...) and actually learning this other language has come in handy. I just got back from France (school trip). Man, that was a blast.

English with a decent amount of French. Well, if I can ever remember any of it.

I did years of japanese and after the classes were over I forgot it all the next day. :(

With the exception of movies made for children all we get is swedish subtitles, yes.

English, learning German (I can converse just not that wide a vocabulary) and of course, Tourist.

DOOOO YOOOOOOO SPPEEEEEEEEK EEEENGLEEESH?

aw thats a shame ... same happend to me with french (after 12 years :/)
now im only speaking german as first and english second, i like the english language, can express some things better then german.

My first language is obviously Dutch (I live in Belgium), which I can speak without any problem. Apart from that, I can also speak French and English fluently (I've had to speak French for the past week till yesterday, because I was on holiday in France).

I can understand (not 100%), and express myself in a few words in German, but only the basic stuff.

And I can understand Latin, but that's not very useful :p

English first.

I also know:

- Arabic
- French (badly)
- Malaysian (Bahasa)
- A little bit of Afrikaans too (Im half South African)

Hahaha don't you just love the odd spelling of Afrikaans

Fun fact: Afrikaans is actually a language derived from Dutch.

but its a)cool and b) the basic of mostly all european languages ... i would have been glad havin latin class.
you can deviate much words if you know basic latin.

English as a first language, and some moderate-to-solid knowledge of Japanese as a result on my uni course. However I can barely understand anything spoken to me in Japanese if I'm caught off guard, or if it's too colloquial, or just generally, at all. And I need my electronic dictionary with me at all times. I suck, but I still surpass the pretentious twats in my course who think they are fantastic at it.

I also took French and Spanish in secondary school, and got an A* GCSE at French, but wouldn't even consider myself as having a background in French any more. It's all gone, totally.

About the scandinavians who have great English - on my year in Tokyo I lived with a bunch of Norwegian and Swedish guys, and if they hadn't told me they weren't British I might never have suspected. Their english was that good. One of the guys I thought was Irish at first.

That's true. Italian and Spanish vocabulary are very similar to it.

You also learn how to work with cases, as you do in German.

No that's perfect. I am a goldfish.

Crispy, dans is in, sur is on. Like, sur la table is on the table. So wouldnt it be dans?
"The monkey is [physically] in the branch [of a tree]"!!??

I don't think so.

I'm around 40% fluent in Russian, 80% in English and know a little French. Well enough to buy a sausage.

Seriously though, I generally pride myself on my spelling capabilities and grammar. Especially since I never payed attention in school.
You're kidding right? You spelled "paid" wrong. How ironic

Je ne comprend pas francais tres bien....merde. Je parle anglais. I've learned a little french lol, maybe too much :)

English is a second language for 30% of people here!

Actually, payed is an acceptable past tense or past participle of the verb pay.

Thanks. You know, When I made that post, I had some sort of hunch somebody might try to say I spelled it wrong. There's paid, and payed people!
