Are you overweight? If so, what are you going to do about it?

I hear all these studies about people getting fat and I wonder if the statements are true. I for one am about 20 lb overweight and I don't have all that much muscle. I will change that over the winter though, as I am taking up weights and cardio. College is a major bitch though with the time constraints, but I will find the time. So hows about youz guyz.

I started working out every other day for an hour, i feel great.

I have a gut, but it doesn't show if I wear a shirt.
I have begun jogging every other day and eating slightly less.
My half hearted lifestyle change leads to loosing one pound a week. :D

I'm underweight actually, by a rather lot

I weigh about 20 lbs more than I should, not too concerned about it though. I was about 225 lbs 2 years ago, I hover around 195-205 now. Good enough. :p

I'm 6' and weigh 150 pounds, so I am pretty much on the thin side. But I'm careful of what I eat and do. I recommend finding something physical you really like and sticking to it. For me, that consists of skateboarding and the old sideways samba.

I weighed 175 back in December, stopped drinking soda, mcdonalds, ate slightly less, worked over the summer, and for a few weeks walked 3 1/2 miles a day. Yeah try loosing a pound a day for a week and walk 3 1/2 to 5 1/2 miles with no soda or any really bad foods.
I weigh 147 now, and I need to start walking again, im gaining some pounds. I should put on some more muscle to. Amazingly I cannot remember the last time I had a Soda or anything but milk\water.

i run usually 3 times a week for an hour, and do alot of swimming/sports.

i've never been overweight though, always been healthy or even a tiny bit underweight.

i hate it when i see fat people who hate themselves for being fat .. change yourself.

6'2" 215lbs, and i play football (american) so im pretty much in shape.

You should put weights infront of cardio, but whatever works for you. I just started working out again after a hiatus getting settled into college, but now I'm getting back in the swing of things. I'm gonna start doing 45 minutes of cardio in the morning and weights in the after noon. I guess if you do fasted cardio, as in doing it in the morning before breakfast, you will burn that much more weight.

I just found someone who stole my name!! :flame: :flame: :flame:

I got to 200 lbs over the summer, so now I'm working to drop back down to 160. I'm eating less and eating more balanced meals along with working out three times a week (toning muscle, not really building muscle mass) and I run almost every day, and any day I'm not running I'll get on the elliptical machine for 30 minutes
I've lost almost 20 lbs in a month... my goal is 160 by christmas break... I think it's doable

My doctor says my BMI is pretty much perfect for my bodyweight/height/muscle. I lost 25 pounds in the past year. Helped :).

I'm 135 pounds.

I'm about 6' 210 lbs. A little overweight, but I can put on muscle like it's nothing

Im running every day infact Im gonna go take walk with my dog later (to rired and stuffed mith seafood for running) but yesterday I ran!

Could you say the () part in english please.:farmer: Any of you guys have home gyms? I go to my school's weight room; kinda downtrodden, but theres something about it that is hardcore. It is mostly freeweights and all the stuff is made of solid Iron. It's got a good feel.

I've never had much weight on. Thats probably because I run three times a day. The doctor says I've got to cut down, because I'm screwing up my muscles.

 You enjoy running?! JK, I enjoy it as well. It feels like you're getting back to that primal instinct in you, especially when you go at a full sprint. Just imagine that there is a polish bear chasing you and it will really get you on your toes.

What am I going to do about it? EAT MORE FOOD OF COURSE....not really, it doesn't matter if I lose fat, I'll just gain muscle in doing so...its pointless for me...

6 foot, 2 inches with a rockclimbers body weighing at 160. I can do pull ups like no tommorow but cannot gain a single pound. Please donate your chub to me

I'm 5'10" 155 or so. I've been between 145 and 160 pretty much the last 3 years, it bounces around a bit. I think I'm pretty average. Used to get body composition checked by the nutritionist for rowing. I had slightly more muscle mass than bone mass and about 17lb of fat or so. My phase angle was 7.something. I don't even know what phase angle is, has to do with cell wall strength, and higher is better. I had the highest for highschool athletes at that clinic.

Good nutrition as a kid is key. My mom grew up in rural farmland Japan and so she was always cooking lots of vegetables and rice and fish. I used to hate it and I would envy all my friends that got french fries and soda pop. Now I'm happy that I didn't eat that crap, and try to put a lot of vegetables and proteins into my diet. I look at my roommate and he is always cooking those sodium filled packaged dinners and cookies and lots of frozen foods. Sure it tastes good once in a while, but that stuff isn't food.

Luckily I live next to a produce store, a bakery, and a butcher. My staples these days seem to be: brown rice, carrots, onions, broccoli, cheese, tomatoes, spinach, chicken, oatmeal, beans, sprouts(super high in vitamins), apples, bananas, soy milk/skim milk, pasta, olive oil, garlic, and whatever meat I pickup from the butcher, usually ground beef or something. I'd have fish, but it's expensive.

Mediteranean cooking is really good. Just dump stuff into a frying pan with olive oil and garlic and you can't go wrong.

yup, i need to do [alot] more weights.

IM THE RIGHT SIZE. I CAN EAT AS MUCH AS I WANT AND NOT GET FAT.

damnit ffs ignore the caps. (hate it when i do that)

I am 4 pounds over weight.

I'm not going to jack about it.

weights before cardio
I think this weights are overblown. I always chuckle at those gym monkeys you see every day on the bench press. You know the guys with their arms sticking out at their sides because they can't hang straight down anymore. Often times they wear really baggy pants or shorts because they have huge shoulders/chest and scrawny chicken legs. Seriously, it takes a few months to develop your muscles, it takes years to develop your cardiovascular energy systems. You don't see nearly as many health benefits from lifting weights as you do from actually exercising.

Think about the bench press, you're overloading your body for that one motion. How useful is it actually though? Unless you're constantly pushing/punching you don't really need to be really strong at that motion. Most of the time in practical situations your body will be straining to do the opposite, lift or pull something towards you, not away from you. And even then, if you're trying to life something, your legs are probably more important. Stuff like squats and cleans and chinups.

6'1", 210 lbs. A little overweight...I've started to watch what I'm eating and run about a mile every other day.

I'm about 65 kg. Pretty healthy for my age and length.
