Armed Assault News from BIStudios

i don't think he was 'judging' the game at all, just saying it looks horrible [graphics], in which it does.

I'd really love for OFP2 to feature a ChinaVsUS/Russia campaign.:)

Also guys, don't worry about the water, there's an addon for -OFP1- that gives you real reflective water ala HL2 anyway, which, if we're to believe the devs, will be compatible with ArmA.

Yeah like Gargantou said there will be loads of modding of this game, so if something isn't spot on the community will work on it and make it spot on ;)

True.

Still, i'll take an OFP2 over a BF2/HL2/D3/Halo2 any year of the century.

Raziel-Jcd I know the game is not the best looking but that's not what the game is about, anyone who has play operation flashpoint will tell you this, this game will have true depth and gameplay you can shake a stick at and still keep comin back for more.

Also the community for these games are huge (a bit like hl2) the OFP community is still churning out good mods & missions 4 years down the line.

The moral of my story? don't judge a book by its cover.

I didnt, the overall game doenst appeal to me.

Well each to their own I suppose, just out of interest have you played operation flashpoint much?

Yeh the new FDF 1.4 is awesome. Try out the FFUR replacement packs too.

The mission editor is worth the game price alone.

For all things OFP - http://ofp.gamezone.cz/

Meh, OFPEC is the best site for addons, missions, mods, campaigns and help with the editor.:D

Okay, sort of off-topic, but I'd just recommend anyone here with the "complete" OFP package(I.e. OFP+Resistance or OFP GOTY) to install it, and get http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard311/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=55;t=45538;st=0

You could also try Dynamic Afghanistan : Delta Force

They're both great single player missions, but dynamic ones, it feels like a movie when you play'em, seriously.:)

Me me! I bought GOTY for a tenner :D

and I agree, it even gives you the options for super high detail terrain.

I find some of the night stealth mission's quite scary, lots of fun.

New news just in:

Idea games will be publishing Armed Assault.
Great news for all us fans, things are really starting to pick up now.

Here's the article from gamesindustry.biz :

A trio of independent game developers have established the Independent Developers Association (IDEA Games), providing members and partners with a unique support structure to successfully bring new games to market.

Created by industry executives from developers Altar Games, Bohemia Interactive Studio and Black Element Software, the association is wholly owned by the participating studios, providing independent developers with comprehensive support, guidance, marketing and promotional resources.

Wow those are some awesome screens, amazing draw distance on that last one.

Two new screens out:

Sweet :)

Same, but I have an even harder time waiting for "Game2"/"OFP2"/"ArmA2"..
I mean if we're to believe the devs it'll also be like an RPG in terms of how deep NPC interaction will go.:)

gargantou i'd be suprised if game 2 made a 2008 release
the screens do look pretty - although not the leap i'd hoped from the original

:O 2008? jeez, I dont want to hear anything more about this game till december 2007

why? sterny what happens in 2007? stalker?
well only half a year to wait for Armed Assault hopefully :)

Uhm, john, I don't think that's true, I've spoken to Placebo several times, albeit I know PR reps speak alot of shiet at times, I really want to believe him, and he has said that it'll only be about a year between ArmAs release and the sequel.

You do know that ArmA is only a testing ground for the REAL sequel right?

Btw, half a year?
I've heard Q1-Q2 2k6, that's less than half a year, is it not?:)

woah easy there on the attitude son 0.o

placebo can promise what he likes - the fact of the matter is that the BIS team are promising a game with more revolutionary bits than Stalker - and look how long its taking them! Assuming Arma arrives on time, a solid 2 years of development is the least i would expect from BIS considering that Arma is only being used primarily to experiment with the engine and ai

why? because I hate waiting ;( ..and no, stalker is coming out in 2011 and it's been changed from a game about chernobyl to a game about gathering nuts in the wilderness of what once used to be chernobyl but so much time has passed that it's so overgrown that no one can find it

oh and it's switched developers and is now being developed by 3dRealms :cheese:

Well, we'll see I guess..
And Bohemia did have their share of "delays" with the XB version of OFP, OFP:E.
The knowledge they learnt from doing the XB vers is being translated into ArmA for better performance, AI etc.:)
The XB vers have a huge improvement in terms of AI over the PC vers also, so that's great news, but yeah I guess you're right in the end..

I just.. HATE waiting..*Cries*

And CptStern, that was the lamest joke ever..
I think it's being delayed just because THQ feels the game ain't polished enough, and think about it, such an ambitious game like STALKER; it's bound to be bugridden, and THQ probably don't want to published a game that's good in concept but the bugginess ruins it(Read Boiling Point).:p

same i feel your pain ;(
damn hype machine :( I havent played Opf Elite but its meant to be absolutely excellent - xbox fan magazines were raving about it in the same tone as if halo 3 were just released - well almost :E

you're preaching to the converted here ..I've been following stalker since 2003 ..and just as you said:

"I just.. HATE waiting.."

HAH!
I've been following STALKER since it's initial announcement in 2k1..
And I was just 11 then.. God I'm such a geek!*Sits in a corner and slits his wrists in fear of his own geekiness*:(

yes but you're physically closer to the Ukraine than I am so news gets to you sooner :E

This looks immense, I recommend as many HL2.neters get this so we can all pitch against each other in massive team based cenario's.

lol yeah that would be good, we over at AAZ are going to be getting a server when the game is launched, and your all welcome for a big AAZ vs HL2.net battle :sniper:

ok that sounds reasonable ..there's not much hype/news about this game
