Anyone know if there is a noticeable difference between ATA100 and ATA133 HDD's?

nope, almost no difference at all. only cache sizes make differences in Hard Drives

Ok, lemme ask this then. In your opinion, Seagate or Maxtor?

in my opinion..... WD

Btw ata 133 is faster that ata 100.there is definetly a differance, ....but you proby wouldnt notice it.

ya, get a western digital Special Edition, they have the biggest HD caches known to man, 8MB, thats huge

i've never seen a difference between ATA100 and ATA133, but crabcakes has more experience, so listen to him

yea mine just came :D. I got a WD 80gb SE w/ 8mb cache. My older bro tells me the 8mb caches are definitly worth it, very fast.

I couldn't disagree more! WD sucks.. crappy quality and they break all the time. I have owned lots of different HDD's and only one has broken. Guess what brand it was? My first and last WD, that's for sure. I have at least 4 other friends who have had their WD's die on them.. 2 irl friends and 2 I know from IRC.. But anyway, this is a known fact. WD, Fujitsu drives break the most. IBM have a high break percentage too but that's cause they had one really bad model that broke randomly, and their new HDD's today need to be well cooled or they will die on you with time.

There are Maxtor and Seagate HDD's with 8mb cache too.

I will never buy a maxtor....and especially not a seagate.......

Ive never had a problem with WD ..i cant say the same for maxtor

edit: that and WD tend to be faster.

Im gonna order a 80 gig SATA drive from maxtor, but i really never loooked into HDs that much. Its only a few bucks more then the WD of the same class, but the maxtor got better reviews.
