ATI Beta Drivers question???

I downloaded and installed the ATI Beta 4.12 drivers when they came out on the 14th I believe, but now Steam's website is offering a different driver.

One I downloaded: wxp-8-08-041110a-019199.exe
One Steam has: wxp-w2k-8-08-041111a-019253e.exe

Which one should I be installing? My guess is the one from Steam, but I don't have any other info on that particular BETA driver.

And was there a fix for the audio stuttering? I saw on the homepage that there was a fix, but I'm not sure if I have it.

First tell us where you downloaded yours.

Not sure what yours are, but the beta ones are the 019253e ones that Steam offers. I'd go for that.

Go for the ones that Steam is offering.

I just installed the Steam ones, and my video won't play right on Winamp, Divx, etc. Then when I go to run HL2, it says "Failed to Init Shader"

Rolling back the previous 4.12 catalyst driver....

The second one is updated version of the first one. (Both of them are 4.12 beta)

19253 is an updated version that was supposed to deal with some texture issues in-game, and kinda deal with the stuttering. I haven't really had a chance to compare framerates or anything, but the newer one definately feels smoother...

All you can really do is try it out and see what happens. Different people will get different results, and every driver (almost) is faster that it's predecessor.
