ATI to make Half-Life 2 announcement today

And for those that are lazy:

AN OFFICIAL from ATi Technologies has exclusively advised the INQUIRER that the company is confident of being in a position to finally make an announcement regarding Half-Life 2 tomorrow (Thursday 24th October). We anticipate this will be in relation to the bundling promises ATi has made to its trade and end-user customers, who have already committed to Radeon 9600XT and 9800XT product purchases. These guys will be sitting staring at their HL2 vouchers, wondering what they're worth, we suggest. Hopefully ATi’s statement will include an actual date they will start shipping Half-Life 2, and frankly, it's about time the company put its customers concerns to rest, especially since Valve hasn't yet felt able to do so.

Hopefully this means more for us than extra details regarding the bundle. Then again I don't know why ATI would be making any sort of release announcement for Valve; seems like the latter could do it themselves. Here's to hoping, though :cheers:

Yeah I haven't been on here in awhile. Didn't see mention of this on the first page so I thought "What the hell?" Been spending most of my time splurging on Halo multi for PC. Banshees rock! Ahem, thank you.

I'm not angry, I'm just saying there's no reason to beat a dead horse. I acknowledged your comment by stating I haven't been on here lately, and even mentioned what I'd been doing recently in order to emphasize non-hostility towards your statement. It's all good man, but you have to understand there aren't a whole lot of people in the world that enjoy having their mistakes pointed out to them, especially multiple times.

I believe the 'annoucement' is that you can get a full version of HL2 via a rebate with any radeon card purchased.

actually it is just with 9600SE/9600XT/9800XT but not the 9600/9800pro.
And this is the kind of announcement I was expecting.
Why you guys thought it was going to be big news and have new info beyond the HL2 voucher deal...who knows.
 
Wow..... *speechless. I'm beginning to think that it'd be great not to hear anything about HL2 until it goes gold. I mean, I was just starting to relax and get my mind off the anticipation and then the Inquirer (never accurate) says some big news may be coming out so I get kinda' excited to hear about what's going on and it's hogwash. I'd rather not have heard anything at all.

Well Im just "excited" about guessing with regards to the ability to DL the game off Steam. So it WILL be truly free for those with HSIC. I wonder if you can get both the CD and DL it off Steam?
 
I can't believe people are surprised... What made you think ATI had any info on the development of HL2?

Ahh but in England a lot of youngsters actually would say "Nah, man that shit is bad innit?" which actually means:

"Hey, that's cool isn't it?"
 
A younger guy in my shop said "HL2 will be Sick!", and I had to ask him what that meant, because HL2 is going to "Rock".

But my Grandpa said HL2 is going to be a "Doozy, and a fangdangle of a good time"....

I am reminded of Eddie Murphy in...I think the film was "An American Vampire in Brooklyn" or something like that. A scene where he has killed and is impersonating a preacher.
