ATTENTION: Read this before posting upgrade questions/'Will my PC run HL2?' questions

Do not use that link, it is using old information. If you have a 800MHz P3, you will not be able to run HL2.

Haha it says you can run it with 64MB system memory... Definatly don't trust that.

Yeah, that isn't very good. It will tell you if the game will run, based on old requirements. But it won't tell you anything beyond that. It uses graphic card memory as the basis for it's performance. lol

The microsoft page is much better. But even it is not accurate.

Alright, I am recalling what I just posted above. Do not check out the link.

You all have my sincere apologies.

Pentium 4 3.08 GHz 1 gb of ram and a 256mb ati readon 9800 xt

i know hl2 will run on my pc but do you think i can run it on max setting and still get high fps???

My lame computer and what to do

I am really looking forward to HL2 after playing through HL1 recently for a trip down memory lane. The problem is that I blew money on a high-end PowerMac g5 to do videoediting, and am stuck with a lowly Dell P3 700, with 512 ram and a lowly geForce 256. Plays HL1 like butter, but will certainly not run HL 2.

As I do not have money to by a new system, are there any upgrades I can make to make my old system play the game with medium resolution and still have it look nice. There aren't too many cards out there that use PCI interface anymore. I saw an ATI 9250 256 that said it used PCI. But my processor stinks regardless. Any advice would be helpful.

Intel Pentium 4 - 1.5 GHz
640 MB RAM
Radeon 9200 AGP

Do you think I will be able to play HL2 and actually be able to see the graphics for what they are?

yay im finally getting a new graphics card, its a CLUB 3D RADEON 9800 PRO 256MB .. i was thinking of getting a SAPHIRE 128mb version but the 256mb one cost only 40 euros more so i thought its a good deal.. what do u guys think? and will my processor work as a bottleneck? its a AMD athlon 2000+. ive got 1 gb of ram so that should be enough. :) thanks

My PC at the moment:

AMD DURON 2.0ghz
512DDR RAM
ATI 9550 256mb DX9 graphics card

How well can this run HL2 do you think? This week im gonna get a Sempron 2.4ghz and later on i'll upgrade the card too. Do you think I can play hl2 on medium with my current setup?

Celeron 2.8 GHZ ( :flame: )
512 RAM
Radeon 9200 256 MB
SiS 648 FX

I am hoping that I can run HL2 at 1024X768 or 1280X1024 resolution and medium details.
What do you think?

hopefully 1024x778 at medium for you grohan, but we only have 1 more day to wait! yay

Can I even play?

1.67 GHZ (amd athlon xp 2000)
512 MB ram
nvidia geforce fx 5200 :)()

Thanks

I know, but will I be able to play it on graphics settings that do the game justice?

ME:
ATI Radeon 9200 128mb 4X AGP
AMD Athlon 1700+ XP ( ~1.46Ghz)
512 PC2100 DDR
WD 80.0 7200 RPM HDD

Half life 2 at a playable/enjoyable FPS? Yes or No

will my spec run hl2 and cs;s properly?
2.7Ghz
512 RAM
9800 Pro 128Mb

will my low ram make it coppy?

EVERYONE THAT ASKED CAN PLAY! GO PLAY THE ****ING GAME IT IS OUT!!!!!!!!!!111111oneoneeleven

I just have a quick question to ask, I have read a lot of different things on video cards. One guy in general discussion saying he is getting 80 fps with a GeForce 4 mx card and others saying they are having problems with higher end cards. How do you think the game will run on a GeForce 3 Ti-200 w/ 128 mem.

The rest of my specs are above recommended so the only thing holding me back is a video card.

Comp spec:
2800+ o.c. to about 3200+
768 mem o.c. to match fsb
and the obove named video card

I really hope the game will run okay because I don't want to shell out $400 for a new video card.

I don't need all the things on high either, I would probably want to play at least on low.

may i know which type of DirectX will half life 2 need to run?Directx 9.0b or DirectX9.0c?

Hi im new here and i have a question, how well would my computer run, would it be able to run half-life2 on high settings and high resolution? Heres my specs...

AMD Athlon 3000+ (333fsb)
Asrock mobo
512 DDR 3200 dual channel
ATI 9800 256bit
80GB HD
Win XP Sp2

Will an acer travelmate 800
Centrino 1.6, 512MB ram, ATI 9000mobility
Run hl2 (with lowered settings)?

yo, someone just tell me really quick if my radeon 9600pro will run hl2 with basically everything on, or close to. In other words, should i buy a new card?

I have a GeForce FX 5600, 256 mb video memory, 512 mb of RAM, will that be able to run with high settings? Also, will this card last a year, or is it already low end?

i'm having trouble with my video drivers (also a ati 9000mobility card) so I wouldn't risk it yet

It will run it very smooth. Loading levels and other things while playing the game will be the only setback for ya.

It will run surprisingly well for a laptop.

You should be good. The 9600Pro is a great card for 1024x768 res. If you wanted a better card, look for the 9800Pro (Online for <200$) or the 6600GT coming soon for 199$ in retail.

It isn't lowend and it will play the game very well. It will not however play the game in DX9 nor will it perform good if you force DX9.

Radeon 9000 cards have had a few issues in the past with different games. Just try some older drivers, like the 4.7's, if you can find them.
With older cards like that, it's best not to update your card's drivers every month unless you have an issue that has been fixed and listed in the release notes. When they make the current drivers they generally focus on the new cards and not the old ones.

I wanna run Half Life 2 at 45FPS and over. Will this system run it with High Settings, 1280/1024 res, 4AA and 8AF?

-AMD64 3400+
-1024 ram pc3200 400mhz
-GeForce 6800GT 256mg (not OC)

???

My Pc seems to have problems running Hl2 it keeps pausing etc and i get good framerate and then it will suddenly drop and go back up, my system:
P4 2.4 GHz
256Mb RAM (most likely whats causing the problems)
9800PRO.
I think im gonna get a GB ram at christmas so any way anyone else havin problems like that it not only sound but the whole game.

I am buying a new computer because I am getting a good deal on it.
But will I be able to run mostly everything on high?

Here are my specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 3200+
RAM: 512MB PC2700 DDR
VID: XFX FX5700 256MB (DirectX 9 Compatible)
HD: 200GB 7200rpm ultra DMA

And will the 512MB of RAM influence the performance a lot, because I may be upgrading to 1GB if it would make a difference.

right not bothered by my cpu or ram atm cause i am getting a new bundle in new year....

what i wont be getting is new graphics card and i was wondering how you guys think my current one will handle hl2:

Geforce4 Ti4200 128mb, far as i know its running with DirectX 9.0

its slightly over cloaked at 260mhz cpu, and 520mhz memory.

cheers

How about:

CPU: P4 2.60 GHz
RAM: 512MB PC2700 DDR
VID: 9600 Pro 128MB

Scratch that I meant:

How about:

CPU: P4 2.60 GHz
RAM: 512MB PC2700 DDR
VID: 9600 XT All In Wonder 128MB

I got:
Windows XP pro
Sapphire 9600
512 MB of ram
996mhz
directX 9
Pentium 3
enough disk space and the right sound
