Howdy all,

I am hoping for a release this year of HL2, in the absence of HL2 this year what game would you purchase as a rival to HL2?

Also what textures will be available in HL2 editor i.e. # of Textures and static meshes?

1. what games to rival HL2? (in my eye? none) but with the lack of HL1, (surprisingly) have my eye on Call of Duty (people shouldnt judge it until they try the demo.. I actually thought it would stink to high heavens before I played it on my bro's comp)
and perhaps max-Payne... but Im not too certain on Max.. it seems like a rehash so far.

2. textures included in the hl2 editor well I would speculate all the wads (or whatever hl2 is using now) that come with the game.. and I would expect them to be quite plentiful.
static meshes... expect LOTS.

I read somewhere that Hammer has like a warehouse (what valve refered to it as) that has all sorts of parts in it from the game, like couches lamps etc, and you can just drag and drop them into your map.. then again I heard that a long time ago and I cant really say whats up now

Probably buy Deus Ex 2 and Worms 3D. Other good games i might get my hands on are Prince of Persia : sands of time, XIII, and Splinter Cell 2.

yes he was, but this is like the fourth thread, and the 12th time I have seen him writing like that. this wasnt the first instance.
If it was an isolated instance I would be an asshole for saying something.
however Im pointing it out before it becomes extremely over-bearing.

and he edited his last post, its now in "english" before it was like his signature, I dont appreciate that, since it makes me seem harsh, and I am anything but.

I wanted to establish that yes spitcodfry was in the wrong, but clinging to the fact that he did something wrong and went unpunished is immature, especially with the way he was acting. not everyone that does something wrong gets punished, the moderators have practiced leaniancy.. perhaps to their detriment, but spitcodfry isnt the only one, and neither is Gjaagular.
but he IS drawing attention to himself, and when he gets banned he is gonna wonder why he got kicked and spit didnt.

Stalker: Oblivion lost (http://www.stalker-game.com) you can get a good trailer for it at fileplanet. It has a very impressive game engine with good textures and dynamic lighting. It also looks creepy as hell. It's due sometime next year and is definitely worth a glance, gamespot do a good piece on it

In the short term, Call of Duty looks a must (although 22 levels doesn't seem many......I just hope they are long). Deus Ex 2 also. Max Payne 2.......I'll wait for the reviews, so far the footage hasn't impressed me (just looks like more of the same).

Max Payne 2 looks like Max Payne 1 with slight changes, and since that one wasn't that great (to put it nicely) I'm not interested in it.

People keep saying: "well, we KNOW Doom III will look better than HL2 but...". Hmm, maybe it's just me, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that at all. Perhaps I just prefer the more realistic breed of graphics or something, because I haven't seen anything of Doom III that looks as realistic as HL2.

Facing North... if you turn to the east (90 degrees), then again to the south (90 degrees) and then once more turn 90 degrees you'll face west. If you had turned left once from north, you'd also face west.

Well I for one would definitely go for Max Payne 2. Yes it does look like more of the same (which isn't a bad thing), but everything's been tweaked and the game is at least three times longer, and has 2 to 3 times as many weapons as the original (I believe). Bullet Time 2.0, the enhanced AI and Havok 2 look killer, and the mods should be great

STALKER and Splinter Cell 2 look great as well, but SC2 is coming out April for sure and I think STALKER will be as well.

If Hl2 slips, which I doubt it will, I'll go for Max Payne 2 - PC (Looks great. *Buy*), Freedom Fighters - Xbox(I love this game! *Buy*), Armed and Dangerous - Xbox (Looks hilarious. *Buy*), I'll try out DEII, it looks like crap right now. The bumpmapping can't account for all the shoddy work I've seen.

And as for Half-Life 2-I don't think we will see it this year, unfortunately.
