Avatar, Book 3: Fire

Looked at title, saw it was anime, posted my f*ckshit comment that nobody cares about, left thread.
Seriously, if you don't like it, you actually don't have to say anything. It might be a newsflash to you but no one here actually cares about your opinion, especially when it's "hurr asian-looking cartoon." Your opinion isn't even educated or constructive negativity, it's just an idiot shooting his mouth off for no reason.

Postcount +2 for you, huh, Uriel? GG man, GG.

Saw the first episode of the new season today. I'm rather hyped up, want to know what happened to Iroh.

"The Awakening" is awesome, although the editing is not... as good as other episodes.

Still awesome.

I just saw the first four episodes of the new series.
It's good to see the gang are actually doing some stuff that'll make a bit of difference, and not just blindly chasing after Ozai, even if they don't realise it. Just killing Ozai won't really do much. The Fire Nation will still be nationalistic (and out for revenge) and Azula would probably end up in power.

They've already planted the seeds of rebellion in one school (I foresee the headband becoming a symbol of freedom and rebellion amongst Fire Nation youths) and a village ("Maybe these water-benders aren't so bad after all"/"What the hell did the military ever do for us besides nearly destroy our village?"). They've also gotten another spirit on their side (always good) and Sakka is in with the Order of the White Lotus, even if he doesn't realise it.

Iroh is being as awesome as always, but they're keeping his new voice actor silent. I must know what he sounds like <_<

You've already heard his new voice actor in Tales of Ba Sing Se. Sounds just like Mako, because he was Mako's understudy.

I thought that Mako died after they finished recording season 2. Well, if we have heard him, that's great because I never noticed a different actor.

They did, but he has a few lines here and there, and he's Iroh in the chibis.

Which is good because Iroh hasn't actually spoken yet in Season 3, although they've shown him an awful lot.

"Sokka's Master" though was a really good episode, "Painted Lady" was ok filler, and "The Headband" was a good DANCE PARTY WOOOooOOOoooOO episode.

Can't wait for "The Beach" next week...

Sokka progressed incredibly quickly in that episode didn't he? Doesn't it take over the course of a day? :p

Edit: BTW,
Why happened to Aang letting go of Katara in The Crossroads of Destiny? He still clearly has feelings for her. Does that mean no more Avatar state?.

And on a last note: Does anyone else think Toph might have a crush on Sokka?

Blush says yes, but Sokka's being chased by Suki atm and Yue is totally using her moon powers to spy on him. > > Don't forget Ty Lee, either!

The episode is about two or three days long, and in the rabid fanboy opinion over at www.avatarspirit.net, the general consensus seems to be that he had the basic sword skills in him all along, but he needed encouragement to bring them out. In any case it's not as if he's a master swordsman all of a sudden.

I dunno what's happened with the Avatar state, and nor does anybody else for certain.

Suki's alive? Thanks for the spoiler <_<
I've suspected Toph liked Sokka a bit ever since the Serpent's Pass, when she kissed Suki, thinking it was Sokka. Toph could kick Suki's and Yue's combined asses, infact, she could bend Yue at Suki, crushing her with the ****ing moon!

Suki's not confirmed alive. I just say she's alive because I think Avatar would've made it more explicit that she died so they could have mourning and junk. -__-

hmph, this season does not seem to be on nickelodeon, is it on youtube?

It's on YTV in Canada and American Nickolodean. I advise Torrenting it. Nick in other countries is showing the previous Seasons.

It's on Youtube. Search for this and you should be able to follow links right up through the new series:
AtLA ep1

The new series has started over here. They've already shown The Awakening and The Headband and I got to watch them on my new, 40', HD TV :cheese:

The Beach sucked.

Well, not really, but it wasn't as awesome as Sokka's Master. And here I was thinking the series would pick up again.

Combustion Man is ubar though.

Up next: The Avatar and the Fire Lord... it's about Roku and Sozin, i believe.

The Avatar and the Fire Lord was amazing. Very heavy on the exposition. Nothing in the way of combat. And the ending's a plot twist you won't see coming.

Also, Iroh's first words of the season. New VA sounds pretty good.

I've seen Sokka's Master and the second half of the Puppetmaster. I missed the others because my goddamn Sky Plus isn't working right. Hopefully they'll replay them soon.

What's with the apparent overnight popularity of this cartoon? I don't watch TV anymore, just movies and anime. I'm not bashing it, just wondering what made it so popular.

The show's been out for three seasons now...it wasn't overnight popularity. It's action-packed, well-animated, some humorous moments, and it has a great storyline with actual character development. It's easier to find out its merits by watching it.

Also, just watched Puppetmaster.
Bloodbending is incredible, and Hama's a badass. They hinted at this ability with the card game, but now we actually see it in the cartoon.

Mmmmm... it's an OKAY show. I thought it was pretty good, the story was well-planned out, and it was easy to tell where you were in the series.

Plus it spawned hentai. :D

Oh jebus, is that all you think about? D: Rock Loli indeed.

OKAY? More like FREAKING AWESOME.

By the way, I hates you UK folks for having its, but it does mean I can d/l it tonight, so I'm not entirely ungrateful.

Finished "Nightmares" episode, and I just want to say:

Baby, you're my forever girl.

Does that mean the DAY OF BLACK SUN is next?

Then you fail, also for posting to say you left the thread. What's wrong with you?

FFS, it isn't anime. Thanks for actually reading the thread and knowing what you're talking about.

The Runaway is much funnier and awesome on the second viewing, as awesome as it was on the first viewing.

STEAM DOESN'T WORK DAMNIT *cries*

I already knew bloodbending existed (It's been mentioned, if not named, in the wikipedia article on waterbended for ages), but it's awesome to see it in action. Good to see Katara having another unique skill :p. Actually, that make me think. Why the hell doesn't Aang learn healling or metalbending? 'twould be handy.

I dun think he can. Healing seems to be a genetic waterbender ability, and metalbending is because Toph rules.

UPDATE: The Day of Black Sun has been leaked onto the Interwebs. I cannot provide links, but I can provide information!

I saw Nightmares and Daydreams the other day.
Aang as Goku with no pants is hilarious
Can't wait for Day of Black Sun. I wonder who'll be involved in the invasion. I want KIng Bumi and Flopsy!

This show sounds interesting, I remember seeing a preview for it on Nick a couple of years ago.
I meant to watch the very first episode but I got caught up in other things and forgot about it.

edit : Oh nevermind, just watched a trailer for it and it's an anime. Bleh.

For the 20th time:
IT'S NOT A FU
CKING ANIME

More to the point, it really shouldn't matter. It's like watching Heroes and being ****ing "ZOMG IT'S A LIVE ACTION NEVER WATCH LIVE-ACTiON WTF"

:/

My point being, it's retarded to dismiss something based on the medium it's shown on.

For the 20th time:

CKING ANIME

Maybe it isn't from Japan, but it definitely has the look and style of an anime.
And I hate that.

I probably wouldn't have watched it anyways, I haven't watched any cartoons in awhile, save South Park.

It really does get me how people will completely write off something based on the look of it.

"Wow this show sounds really interesting, I think I'll wat--oh wait, AH HATES ANNUH MAY." Seriously, whatever happened to judging something by the quality of its content rather than the style it's drawn in? Honestly, the art style is only vaguely reminiscint of anime. Anime stole its look from Western cartoons in the first place.

Seriously, I want to understand your mindset. Can you tell me why exactly you wouldn't give a show a chance based on the way it looks? You might like it. If you had any legitimate gripes about the show itself, I could understand, but refusing to give it a chance because of the artstyle...why?
