*Basic* Lighting Tutorial

Well, this is something I made a long, long time ago for us....but Munro has yet to put it online, and There are lots out there who need to see it.


For those of you who know what they're doing; when commenting on the tut remember it is for those who don't know what the heck thier doing.

looks nice! I'd increase the power of the lights a little bit each, rmemeber tyhe tutorial is to show you the basics, move on from there!
 
The problem is...I see more detail here than I do in your final renders here and here. The global illumination you're using is almost completely masking out the shading on open curves.

EDIT: if you are using environmental lighting with GI and you're loosing detail play around with he amount of bounces and their intensity, but you should always master traditional lighting before moving to GI.
