Battlefield 2 new screenshots

hopefully the game play will match the graphics

It would make more sense for it to be Battlefield 2k

Looks like it's going to require a nuclear powered graphic card, but I'll still get it, I never miss a BF title :)

That game is going to be like Desert Combat, but tons better. Real stinger missles, laser guided bombs, yah...that is about all I know about the game.

I think I've seen a fair few of those pictures before in a games mag (PC gamer uk or PCzone UK)

anyhow the game looks really sweet and I can see me buying this one.

3 way war isn't it?

US, China and umm...Terrorists I guess.

Heh, sounds like first person Generals :)

Anyway, I really want this game. I got the couple of videos, in particular one that explains different stuff and shows an airstrike against a tank of a bridge which is stopping a group of soldiers getting past. The guy paitns it with a laser beam, and a jet comes flying over, drops a bomb...not only blows up the tank, but takes out a large part of the bridge as well.
Being able to fire out of vehicles is a good thing as well. Previously you ahd to sit in a gun position, but now you can shoot out of the windows.

Graphically it looks great as well, and some of the game play features sound interesting. Also, apparently, they are making it a lot better for singleplayer as well.

Correction. They are apparently making a REAL single player campaign as opposed to multiplayer maps and ojectives with retarded bots.

True, I think that was the reason behind the delay as well.

I'm never buying another Battlefield game, ever. Don't care if it looks pretty, it will still be a buggy POS when it launches. To top it off DICE will ignore these bugs for 6 months saying "look here is a free map, but we are too stupid to fix bugs!"

I hope Battlefield 2 bombs.

I doubt that will happen, they have probably learned from BF1942. And I think Trauma Studios is working on BF2 also.

This is what I always imagined TF2 to be like. Hopefully Valve has some tricks up its sleeve because that's looking pretty badass.

Well Tf2, from what they originally said, isnt centred around making it so real as Bf2. Its realistic in the setting, but I think they want to keep some of the old style Team Fortress game play as well.

Omg! Wow that's approaching photo-realism!

/me ejaculates.

Yay! Rocket jumping, conc jumping, retardedly huge machine guns, oh my! True, TF2 will not be avble to compete in the realistic gameplay arena. It's better off staying in it's own niche of frenzy-killing/ camping /tactics gaming.

Well, Valve was going for a similar realistic look like BF2, at least from the latest screenshots released years ago. I wouldn't really call Battlefield 2 "realistic" either. It's basically a fastpaced arcade type-dealie with realistic guns and vehicles.

No one really knows what TF2 will be like...

Some people said that with the HL2 leak there was information about it in the files saying it had taken on a sci fi twist....

But I dont know whether to believe that or not to be honest......

Well Blah wins the bigot of the day award. :B
Anywho, they really seemed to have set their sites on moving the series foward, and by a massive leap. I really think this could be one of the biggest games of next year.

BF2 is follow closer to DC than it is BF1942, so don't expect fast paced arcade shooter, it will be atleast a little more realistic.

Well just a little more.

I just hope they found a way to stop the "plane-campers".

Plane campers aren't that bad if you know how to use a stinger.

I didnt care for teh first one, but this one looks too crazy to miss. Ill have to give it a go. Any idea when its comin out?

Hey! You get to play dress with barbie :naughty:

hey whatever gets ya goin' ...more power to you ..I prefer my women to not be made of plastic and 8 inches tall ;)

edit: anyways here's some info on the features of BF2:

* Battlefield 2 will support over 100 players in some of the largest online battles on the PC.

*Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle-to-player ratio and an optimized game play experience. So, you can still have tight 16-player games with the option of growing it to 100-players

*Additionally, Battlefield 2 showcases an all-new game engine and physics system to bring the modern battlefield to life like never before.

*The new material penetration feature measures weapons’ ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive.

*Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests.

*Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates.

desert combat was what i've imagined tf2 would be like, and bf2 actually incorporates some stuff from what valve released would be in tf2. honestly i don't see what tf2 will bring to the table that bf42 already has and what bf2 will.

I have a subscription to CGW and they did a preview of it. I'm not sure how much of this is already known, but I'll relay a couple snippets that stuck out in my mind from it.

bullet spray pocks walls, destructible structures reflect the progressive carnage inflicted on incredibly detailed terrain, and light and shadow occur realistically right down to muzzle flashes illuminating dark rooms and alleys.

So how do you keep 100 players battling on a map from devolving into chaotic cluster frag? By building in squad support, persistent characters, and privileges awarded by rank. This time out, enlistment in the Battlefield army is practically a career. Once you pick a side (the U.S., China, or the fictional Middle East Coalition) and a class and name your character, he exists. Forever, basically. The game still compiles stats and scores your progress on a game-by-game basis, but now, global servers accrue each of your characters' stats and grant rank promotions, allowing even lousy but dedicated players to work their way up from buck private to sergeant
Anything lieutenant or above, however, will have to be earned not just by dogged persistence, but also by being one of the top players across the entire Battlefield 2 community. These ranks aren't point based, but relative. Online leader boards show where you rate and how far you need to go to gain another stripe or star on your insignia. Topping all this off are individual awards based on personal performance - each class has different distinctions, such as sniper of the month.
So what do officers gain for their ability and dedication? access to an online officer's club, which should provide faser downloads of updates through special servers, news, tournaments, and access to games with a minimum rank requirement- perfect for testing yourself against the best for filtering out the clueless noobs.

sound like fun :)

TF2 will probably be out before BF2.

I haven't heard crap about TF2 so far.

And you can't really compare the two. TF2 is more unrealistic. TF2 class systems are MUCH more clear cut. The engneer in BF gets mines, a mortar and repairs vehicles. In TF they build huge turrets, heal friendly armor, etc. No BF class uses disguises like the spy. There certainly aren't demo packs to blow open new paths in BF either...

I still look foward to both games, but I'm not keeping my hopes too high for TF2.

100 players? what a lag-fest that will be

I'm having a hard time finding a 64 player BF:Vietnam server I doubt there will be a single 100 players server.

why? Joint ops has 150 person servers I dont see why BF2 couldnt have a 100 peeps at the same time

I used to see 100+ players on giant Tribes 2 servers years ago. Its possible.

DarkStar said:
I highly doubt that.
BF2 is coming out somtime next year, TF2 should come out a few months after Half-Life 2 or it could even come out with HL2.

I bet your women wish you were though :p

I tried not to say this but i couldn't resist...

BF:V is really buggy and the lag is horrible at first even a lot of the 32 ppl servers lagged like hell and no it wasnt because of the servers it was the game, i havent played on a 64ppl server without biggass lag.

but the game isnt that good anyway its mostly about spawnkilling because u need to take flags right at the spawnpoints o_0 and theres no spawnprotection :x so dumb

i hope this game will be better, but i hope they will fix the explosions of the vehicles etc because they looked really bad in the movie i saw just like bf1942
