Battlefield 3

Nah, a perfect example of what I perfer would be the WWII mod Forgotten Hope for Battlefield 1942. It's the perfect blend of historical accuracy, and some what realistic, but still being fun for everyone that enjoys Battlefield 1942 in what it should have been.

I think you should actually download the latest PR version, as it appears you are still basing your opinion upon the early release. Historical accuracy is a sure for PR - they revamped all the ****s up and oddities that appeared in BF2 perfectly. Accuracy to modern ballistics is, as far as I have read up from the forums/Wiki, just about spot on, give or take. And all in all, it's tremendous fun. Seriously, download the latest version and play a game of Al Basrah Insurgency as the Brits. Instant win.

Care to elaborate about this part? are we the new bad guys of the world?

Not in my eyes. It just seems like a cool yet fictional scenario. Gamemakers seem to not want to copy existing conflicts, just hint at them at most.

Besides, it would be nice to have a couple of tropic battlefields.

let's see what happens, they went downhill after BF1942...

I would love to download it, but this isn't my PC.:( I'm lucky I have the opportunity to play it on this PC, perhaps a month from now I'll get my old computer back then I can play the mod! :D

Personally, I would LOVE PRM if it was more of a small reality fix towards BF2. Guns/recoil/accuracy/health/vehicles *in some retrospects*. I really get bored of wanting to do a certain part of the game *fly or drive an APC*, but can't, because someone else has the kit. There's an APC right in front of me, I want to drive it! I see where they are going, with the whole reality. But for me, If I want reality, I'll join the military. I play video games to get away. I just hope one day someone makes a BF2 mod that does exactly what was already said..
* Realistic accuracy
* Realistic pop
* Realistic range
* Realistic recoil
* Realistic armour
* Relistic damage. - This doesn't have to be one/two hits to kill..that doesn't seem quite too fun.

I've never had any problems with kit selection. If I want to drive an APC, I go up to it, request my Crewman kit and thats it, right there on the spot it drops the kit. I've not piloted a heli or plane, but as far as I'm aware, if theres a plane on the ground, you can take it, you've just got to hit a key on your keyboard to request the kit.

I think the games perfect to be honest. Or it would be if I could get my mic/TS/Ventrilo working.

But for me, If I want reality, I'll join the military. I play video games to get away.

Exactly. Too much realism kills it for me. I want to have fun at the same time.

I was watching the intro vid to BF1942 tonight and seeing it again made me think about all the gameplay possibilities that game has. I really wouldn't mind seeing an exact remake with better graphics and physics.
  • Spotted artillery. It is hard as fook, but since VOIP has been added it should be easier to do. For those that didn't play BF1942: you needed one player to point his binoculars to the target and another to man the canon.
  • Moveable carriers and battleships. This offers great gameplay, although admittedly smacktards can really ruin it. But doing a concerted attack with naval planes, naval artillery and landing boats on an island was one of the coolest things I have ever done in BF1942 (or a multiplayer fps for that matter).
  • Submarines. There are only one or two maps that have subs but they were a lot of fun to use.

So BF1943 it is.

The odd thing, I bought 1942, and didn't enjoy it that much.....I just couldn't enjoy it. Downloaded *illegal...* version of BF2, and lanned it with bots. Still bored. was about to delete, when a friend came over, and we got the bots and lan to work. So we were on teh same team trying to get the chopper to work, no go. We were having just a hell of a time. That's when I knew I had to buy the game.

800 hours later, here I am. \= Maybe I should give 1942 another shot.

Battlefield 1942 was the best. I was renowned for a little bit on a few popular forums as being one of the best pilots. :D That was an awesome experience, never had so many people afraid and excited to play against me. I specialized in dogfighting and pinpoint accurate dive bombing.

I was a bomb Apache pilot in DC and DCF...Dcon is coming close in BF2, but I still miss one of the DCF maps...cant remember the name...Coalition controls a village, the Iraqis have to cross a body of water from an island and invade...there is one helo on the map, unarmed...spawns at a base far away from everything else...

Pitzy, the Crewman and Pilot kits are unlimited...

Anyway, PR is definetly the best thing you can do with your copy of BF2 right now.

I was never able to request a kit...the game just ignored me when I did...

Get in a squad, get to a kit request location, such as a rally point, an APC or the Main base. Certain kits have to be requested from the Main base or APC. And some can only be requested from main.

Also, don't for get to pick it up once its assigned to you.
