Well, i'm just so frusterated. I downloaded a dvd player so I could watch one of my DVD's in my dvd drive, and all hell broke loose. I was barraged with spyware. Usually spyware is no problem with me, but I have some programs on my computer now that i'm struggling to remove, and using all sorts of tactics against. The ones giving me the most hell are called NaviSearch(nls.exe) and Bargain Buddy, also known as Cashbargain. These things, are invincible against adware even when its updated, as well as removing it from the startup. I'm currently manually going into my registry and deleting all traces of the files hoping it cannot manifest itself again.

When I would use adaware on it, it'd detect alot of stuff, but then it'd pop right back up in my process, and no matter how much I did to affect it, it'd still pop right back. So hopefully this registry attack i'm doing will defeat them!

Any other seriously tough spyware battles you guys have had?

Check to make sure you don't have any viruses first.

I had a bunch of spyware I picked up from somewhere that I couldn't get rid of. Turns out they were viruses.

Downloading spybot right now, as well as spyware blaster. I'll try hijackthis as well.

EDIT: And no, the manual deleting of the registry files did nothing. This F*cking dog wont go away! That's the bargain buddy crap!

And run the scans in Safe mode. That helps too.

And get rid of internet explorer if you still use it. I use free opera now and its great.

I have no anti spyware software
I have no anti adware software
I have no anti viral software
I use Internet Exploerer.
My computer runs beautifally.

Well i'm not gonna be getting rid of internet explorer. That's not where the problem lies, and I have had no problem to date using it.

This is the only pesky ass file i've never been able to remove. Still working on it. Not sure exactly how to use hijackthis though.

Poor souls... I haven't had to fight spyware since ... well, I forget. A thing of the past now, I just have to wait for everyone else to catch up. :farmer:

*snickers* "Internet Explorer is not my problem" *snickers*

Yah... that's why I haven't gotten anything since I started using Firefox.

pffft, n00b.

Well that may be your perception that your computer runs beautifully. I'm sure there's lots of stuff going on in your computer that you have no idea about. But, if you follow the 'what I don't know can't kill me' lifestyle, its no big deal, but your computer is probably screaming silently.

I can tell you how
many tasks are running
At any given time...
I know my comp.
It is perfectly fine

it's sick, and it's dying :(

::hugs my computer::
It may be a pathetic POS
But i still love it.

Oh my god! These stupid, motherf*cking programs will NOT go away. I have done everything in my knowledge, which thus far has served me very well, keeping every bad process off my computer and my computer healthy. But these things refuse to go away. They have these little claims when you use the uninstall program for it as well, that say "wait, don't delete me or you'll delete all your savings etc!". It also claims it is not spyware or adware and your privacy is #1. Utter bullshit. Well even after deleting that(since nothing else worked) using their own uninstall program, I rebooted the comp and the %@(I% directory was STILL present. This thing cannot be stopped!

I have used adaware, Spybot Search & Destroy, Spyware Blaster, hijackthis and nothing works.

Is there anything I can do against a company that has software you cannot remove anyways? I mean, I know this adware and spyware stuff is illegal with the new laws, but still i doubt there's anything I can do on an official level. I'm just so frusterated because I can't get rid of them, even doing all the stuff during safemode.

If it were removed, it would not come back. Something is triggering it to be reinstalled at start up. Make sure there's no startup programs you don't know about (msconfig.exe).

Try searching the net for this specific spyware, obviously other people have solved the problem.

I know exactly how you feel. Trying to get rid of spyware completely can be a huge hassle.

A while back I had some nasty files that wouldn't go away no matter how many times I used spybot or adaware. So I opened up my system processes with Windows Task Manager, found the names of the .exe files that were being a pain in the ass, ended the process then deleted the whole folders on my HD.

Why exactly this worked for me when spybot and adaware wouldn't I don't know. Wish I knew more about it....

I have done that. The only startup stuff I have is critical stuff. I cross referenced everything with online process information databases. I went into the registry and deleted all processes matching the target's multiple names.

Already did that, I delete the processes, then delete the folders and registry files, and the entire thing starts up again =(

EDIT: Found this on it. Trying everything it says to remove this ****ing file. I seriously would love to sue these ****ing companies with their illegal practices!

Argh, i'm about ready to give up and accept defeat from this invasive program! ABOSLUTELY NOTHING I do will help me get rid of this! This is driving me ****ing insane! I have spent over 10 hours trying to get rid of this Bargainbuddy/navisearch program.

I think... I think I beat it! It finally stopped twitching after I bludgeoned it in the head 2300 times. I will take a rest, and see again in the morning if it has moved. Might be my greatest victory ever!

I wish hackers would hack all the servers of websites that put spyware on your computer and totally f them up.

Heh, that would be funny. But seriously, I would like to see public executions of all members of spyware companies. :sniper:

I got exactly the same problem. What was the DVD player you downloaded? I got the same exactly spywares. Bargain buddy never wanted to be removed... damn. I formatted... the only thing I though I could do for it and now my computer is running perfectly.

When i formated my C:, dled adaware and checked the system out... over 180 files :/

Get Win Patrol and manage your startup programs, thats often how spyware regenerates itself

I think I downloaded advanced dvd player.

Oh, and hijackthis was the only thing that was able to get rid of the problem.

I've been trying to get on quakenet for 2 weeks but i always get this error.

You are infected with a trojan, please clean your PC (ID: 551).

I've run adaware, spybot, trojanhunter, mcafee stinger, some online trojan scanning thing, pc cillin etc. And it's still there. **** **** **** **** ****

Are you using the latest version of mIRC? there was a security issue with one version not too long ago. You could also try a fresh install of mIRC and see if you get the same problem.

Could still be a virus, there are plenty of 30 day trial antivirus' out there, try NOD32 or EZ ANTIVIRUS (google them)

edit: could also be a problem to do with ports, as thats how quakenet will scan for the trojan. I dont know much about this, but if you are on a networked pc / have a router or firewall what ports do you have open.

as a side note, formatting doesnt delete EVERYTHING. you need to pop in a linux cd and zero out your drive to completely clean it.

oh, and you can use IE for surfing fine, just dont surf porn or other suspicious sites. adware lurks there.

i think this merits a simple answer, the reason i think the spyware is coming back even thought ur utilitys delete it is cause its a virus.. certain viruses will download alot of spyware from certain sites when u start ur computer or whenever it feels like executing. I had tons of spyware on my computer that kept coming back. do a virus scan, should be up to date then check with ad aware and spybot, then i would run a registry cleaner, that should keep it clean, and if you have your virus protection on all the time it shouldn't come back. aslo get rid of ie and get firefox you will be more then satisfied.

i use norton anti virus 2005, works like a charm. probly the best thing i have gotten to keep my pc healthy with all my bull shit i do on this computer

It wasn't a virus. The problem was solved using explicit instructions with hijackthis.

i aslo have hijackthis but i dont use it now, onyl would i use it if i use ie extensivly. just dont delete the wrong things with it

I only used hijackthis for the issue because it was the only thing out of a dozen anti spyware, anti adware etc programs that could completely remove it for good.

Ye, my internet explorer always goes to this wierd site when I open it up. I dont use IE however my family do since they suck. I remove it with adaware but then it instantly comes back again, I scan for viruses and there is none detected. Spysweeper finds nothing and usually crashes my computer :\

You may have hidden partitions on your disk(s), I hear some progs can do this without your knowledge.

iv had this prob befor

this is what i did ,goto task manager - processes and look for something that resembles the program you cant get rid of and end task on them , once thats all sorted go and uninstall the program nomaly , restart pc

that shud sort it

EDIT: sorry dident see that you sorted it :)

Have you used the dvd player since you got rid of the spyware? If not I would advise you not to, since it was most likely causing the spyware. And just to let you know, it isn't illegal to bundle spyware with free programs like this, many p2p programs do the same thing. Chances are they told you in the agreement and you didn't read that and just clicked yes (as most people do).

Use Windows Media Player or Media Player Classic, they are the best for dvd's. dont download a random one.

Oh my god, this damn ass program from hell is back!!

Cropped up again after I was defragging my hard drive and deep scanning for adware and stuff. I don't know how it resurfaced, everything was erased from it. Mother****ing program.
