Well, I havent seen any *RECENT* thread about battlestar, so im starting one. Personally, one of my fav shows of all time

Been meaning to watch it but never do. I've caught a few episodes on SciFi but I never really had any idea what was going on.

I love the show. You really do need to watch the series from the beginning to have any idea what is going. Seasons 1 and 2 are available on DVD. Every episode of Season 1 was pure gold. The episodes had a remarkable sense of 'connectedness', and the plot actually advanced with each show, something unheard of in mainstream television.

[spoilers/]
Season 2 was much more hit (the Pegasus/Resurrection story arc) and miss (that atrocious Black Market episode). Season 3 started out insanely good with the New Caprica arc, ending in the absolute crack high of the two-part Exodus episode, but recently the episodes have been rather poor. I really don't give a shit about the Starback/Anders/Lee/Di (aka SALAD) love quadrangle. Can't two of them die in a tragic Raptor incident and we can get on with the plot of finding Earth?
[/end spoilers]

Someone's supposed to find Earth this season, so the plot's moving forward even with the "love quadrangle."

Battlestar's probably the only show I look forward to on TV anymore. Best thing on, IMO.

Link Please :p, I am upto the part where BSG is in a nuclaer standoff with a cylon fleet

I am meaning to find out who planted the nukes in the TV show Jericho. It has started to sound like a military coup.

I have been watching BSG on the internet

Battlestar Galactica is probably the best thing on TV right now, and it's first season was maybe the best thing I've seen for years. It did lose some momentum through latter part of season but so far season 3 has been excellent (apart from the SALAD quadruple. Sadly Ronald D Moore seems to have learnt how to write romantic love dramas from George Lucas). And I must admit it would be nice to have the cylons re-painted a bit more clearly as the bad guys :p Showing both sides of them is great, but ultimately I still wanna feel that our "heroes" are worthy of my support :E

The Kara-Lee-Dee-Anders story has been getting on my nerves, it started to really piss me off last episode when it kept interjecting with the Baltar/Main story arc.

I'm watching the pilot right now. It's bloody good, but the Cylone mass-offensive attack seemed a little... rushed. I can't explain it, but it felt a little sudden. Not much shown, and when it did happen it was like *five minutes later* ''Oh, Galactica? Umm, we're under attack, do something very calmly and slowly''

I dunno, perhaps I've seen too many films like Starship Troopers, but whatever. This is still awesome. I completly neglected it because I thought there was only one series - the 1970/80 version, and I'm not a big fan of tacky old stuff. But then I find out there's a re-vamped version? Wooooo!

EDIT: I really, really dislike that Governer lady, though.

I think I might buy the first season, since it comes so highly recommended.

Plus, there's a hidden shoutout to Firefly in the pilot apparently - look at this picture, it's from the pilot episode I believe, and that's the ship from Firefly :)

That gets BSG about 20000 cool points in my book.

IEDIT: I really, really dislike that Governer lady, though.

Ooooh, that's too bad. And also you are wrong. Mary McDonnell is extraordinarily good in her role as President Roslin.

It is to be admitted I think that while the mini-series is very good, it is a bit slow-paced at times, at least when compared to the first season, and especially the first episode.

Ennui; You totally should. After Firefly got cancelled, this is the best Sci-fi show on TV right now.

Wrong at... what, exactly? I don't care how good an actor she is, it really isn't my concern, I just hate the character she's playing.

Roslin ain't going anywhere anytime soon, and from what I recall, I did find her rather annoying in the miniseries. However I've come to appreciate her much more over the last three series. I've always found it interesting that between Adama the grizzled admiral, and Roslin, the pert, elderly ex-elementary school teacher, Roslin is the more warlike and aggressive.

What's all this speak of mini-series? The series I'm watching on Tv-Links just says season 1 and this is the pilot.

?

There was a miniseries which relates the initial Cylon attack and the escape of the Galactica and several other ships into deep space. It was an original miniseries that did so well they decided to make a continual series from it. From what you've said, sounds like the 'pilot' is the miniseries, which is several (4 I think?) hours long).

Yeah, it's in 4 parts, each 45 minutes or so, so that sounds like it. So everything else after that, the pilot, is season 1, 2, etc?

Yup. I've got the DVD where it's cut together like a 3 hour feature film.
And Roslin is a great character, instantly loveable :p I absolutely adore how her and Adama's relationship evolved from grudingly acceptance to close friends, and because Olmos and McDonnell are such wonderful actors, it's probably the best relationship in the show. Except for Gaius and Baltar-Six.

Season 3's faltering a bit, but the first two were awesome -- especially the first.

The miniseries was decent, but it's the series that's special.

They're making a DVD battlestar movie now, and also a prequel tie-in series called Caprica.

P.S. And yes, it's a highly serialized series. Trying to leap right into BSG, mid-season, is like trying to start watching Lost right now.

Here's a nice trailer of the show http://youtube.com/watch?v=kvfcJvvaFkw

Great, great show.
I just finished Season 2.5, going to start watching Season 3.

I want to believe you so badly, but I'm with Darth Evader. Linkie?
There's no link, it's what's been said in the promos on Sci-Fi Channel. I don't remember what the other two things said were, but the commercial states: "One will <something something about Baltar>, one will <something something>, and one will find Earth."

The 1 episode I watched, had stupid voice dubbing, and had a superiorly annoying guy screaming "WERE ALL GONNA DIE" or something like that, whilst crashing in a transport vessle with a big hole in the hull.

I decided not to watch it anymore.

I have just begun watching season 2 on DVD and I like it.

It is not immaculate, and some parts jarr, but only slightly - for example, over-dramatic music welling up where it really isn't needed, vaguely cheesy dialogue, a few moments of duffness in generally good action...but it's definitely worth watching. The Boomer/Number Six story thread is by far the best.

Seriously, the treacle-slow-motion-eerie-music-every-time-anybody-is-shot thing gets tiring quickly.

Would it not often be more dramatic if there was no music, and things just kept on going on in real time? See: the bit where Bush gets shot in Death of a President.

Doesn't really bother me too much, I love what I've been watching.
The music is really well done too.

I agree, but occasionally it goes a bit overboard. But I love the music at the end of the Pegasus episode (although I love everything at the end of the Pegasus episode. Michelle Forbes and Edward James Olmos pissed at each other = ****win!)

Nobody likes talking about this show, eh?

Anyways.

RIP Starbuck :(

Bloody hell, what a way to go. Crushed like a tin can. Poor Kara.

Then again, thinking about it from a story perspective, she's obviously not dead.

I look forward to seeing her again as a Cylon/Leoben's wife/Savior of Humanity/whathaveyou
*end spoiler*

In other news, the focus for the next few episodes seems to be on the trial of Gaius Baltar.

that was disappointing, cant believe they let it go like that =(

Gaius doesn't even deserve a trial, he's a Cylon conspirator ffs!

Gaius doesn't even deserve a trial, he's a Cylon conspirator ffs!

Finally, I thought I was the only guy on the 'no mercy, no forgiveness' platform! Let's look out the charges laid out against him:

Aiding in the destruction of the defense mainframe on Caprica
Gaius is correct in saying that he had no idea the Cylons were exploiting him. What he did is to treason what manslaughter is to murder. This I can see him being acquitted of without too much trouble.

VERDICT: Innocent

Cowtowing to Cylon occupiers
He did let the Cylons make him his bitch during the occupation. They'd have shot him if he stood up for Mankind, so there was not much he could do.

VERDICT: Guilty, but he was forced, so no punishment.

Releasing and arming a known Cylon (Gina)
He not only releases her on the Pegasus but gives her a loaded gun. If he argues "I didn't know she was going to shoot the highest ranking officer in the Colonial Fleet!" I call bullshit. What else did you think she was going to do, Gaius!?

VERDICT: Guilty of freeing an enemy POW and enabling her to assassinate the commander officer of the Colonial armed forces. Death.

Supplying a nuclear warhead to a known Cylon (Gina)
He knowingly hands a nuclear device to a terrorist organization run by a Cylon. What the hell did he think they were going to do with the nuke? The blast killed tens if not hundreds of people, and brought the Cylons down on them.

VERDICT: Guilty of providing nuclear arms to the Archenemy. Death.

After reviewing the facts, Baltar would now have a date with an airlock if I were the judge.

I have to say, you shits are awful at disguising spoilers.

I could have cried after that last episode.

I have to say, you shits are awful at disguising spoilers.

Didn't we used to have spoilers tags, and you'd have to highlight them to read? What happened to those? Now all we can do is make do with this:

*spoilers*

Starbuck gets eaten by a space octopus in last night's episode.

*end spoilers*

If you have any suggestions to make spoilers harder to read, by all means, make them!

Im downloading a 20gig torrent, all they way up to Season3,I enojoy this series alot.

Ploughing my way through season 2 in an effort to catch up.
