Begining Programmer Looking for Project

Im a beginning programmer looking for a project to get my feet wet with. I am currently studying for a BA in Computer Science. I do not however have any mod experience, save for level editing and some small amount of modeling. I do have a mod idea but would rather be part of an already existing team. If you're interested in modding, check out the Help Wanted section on ModDB. They're always looking for coders.

Or if you want to try a game from scratch, Gamedev's Help Wanted section has several projects that might interest you.

If you have some free time, I could always use some help in getting a small modification up and running. It's in a preliminarily stage and probably will never be finished without other help, but the general concept should be achievable.
