Being Gay

I dont know about that, but its a increasingly unimportant one.

I don’t hate gays or anything, but Id rather not be around them. I just don’t want to be involved. I probably have a 'fear', I guess, but I don’t hate em for being gay. And that might be a bit hypocritical, if you look at my sig
Its not like I can do anything about it.

i wasn't using it myself...i don't make that distinction. imo, if it happens it's natural. nobody forced anybody to be gay, so it must be natural if not caused by human influence. (ok...it could be "the work of the devil" then if someone wants to take it down that route)

i was just covering that type of argument. lots of people call it unnatural as a way of making themselves sound right.

"being afraid of gays doesn't make you a "bad" person...but it makes you an unnecessarily afraid and misinformed one"

ok, I see your point. I might not entirely agree with it partly because of my upbringing. ah well my friend tells me to try and accept new ideas.

what I meant was this. Being gay is perfectly natural to me. Being straight might be natural to someone else. It's how I was born, it's how you were born. Neither one of us is more natural than the other. We are both natural in our own minds.

looking back at ancient roman/greek culture I can say it is deffinatly not THAT unnatural, it exists all over the animal kingdom (although usually not in this exact form). so... Eh, whatever.

From a religious standpoint, I DO believe its a sin. just like swearing, greed, not doing exactly what your parents say, not going to church every sunday, or killing children. and most of us do all of those things on a regular basis.

ancient romans actually promoted a gay lifestyle (which is wrong no lifestyle should ever be promoted over another. However you feel is how you should live).

the romans were nuts. they did a lot of veeerrrrry odd things.

yeah, the romans were pretty crazy in alot of aspects. Although we do owe much to them. They were the first major democracy I believe, although it was a direct democracy compared to the ones in countries like the United States, which is a representitive democracy. Other than that though, nuts.

that's what i was saying...in a different way.
anyway i'm goin to bed :p

the romans government really didnt work very well. it was the cause of their downfall.

the funny thing is that the fall of rome was caused by things that could easily be repeated in our society. specifically if rome had invaded germany instead of pulling out troops after they lost a bunch to barbarion raids they could still be around today.

pff, brack show aint even over yet.

Gay people are just people with different tastes.

Infact i'm pretty damm close to coming out.

Its amazing how loose people interpret the word "offtopic" :)

My thoughts:

People may live and relate however they wish as long both agrees of course. I couldnt care less. Free will for all! I wouldnt even mind if a guy came on to me. Odd sure, but I wouldnt be disgusted, I would think it was fun someone took interest in me of all people (no, I wouldnt return the feeling, I'm just stating facts: I wouldnt shout out "GAY!" or swear or knock him out or anything)

But I'm an odd fellow, so my opinion dont matter much. I'm even an Atheist, and I justify my choice with Christianity and actually beleiving what the bible say in some parts. Fun huh? :)

I don't mind em at all, although I've never known any in real life I have talked to a few over MSN and I really don't see the big problem.

Well look at it this way. Most gay guys are damn good looking. If someone damn good looking hits on you (guy or girl) TAKE IT AS A COMPLIMENT!!!! And dont freak out.....talking to a gay guy dosnt mean he expects you to give him oral sex.

And anyway, gay guys are really nice. Every gay and lesbian person i've know are freakn' awsome people.

hell yes.. I take it as a compliment :p
it's happened twice now :)
I was like "Thanks but no thanks" :)

Just a decade or so being gay was a mental problem by the psychologists around the world. Then for some reason all that changed. I hope to see that weird and sudden change for people that practice beastiality, download scat pictures and are members of NAMBLA. hehe I'm so bad.

my friend yesterday called me honey... yea hes a guy, was kinda funny
anyways HOMER..the romans government was the lead to there downfall .. i expect a deja vu thing to happen here soon with the american government...

Erm. yeah? www.christiananswers.com (i think thats the url) links homosexuality with rape and peadophilia. WRONG. That annoyed me intensely.

Oh, and Owskie, me and my mate wore girls coat's (with furreh stuff :D) all the way through the toughest part o town :p

lmfao, thats great, doing that kinda stuff is great fun
Oh yea i hate christian links like that
they over analyze everything by liek 91923129837%

I wear girl's coats! Well, not furry ones... And not like massively feminine... I totally shouldn't have said that.

Oh bugger it. I don't care.
A lot of people think I'm gay when they meet me - I've disappointed a lot of people looking for a gay friend... (ie: a platonic friend who's gay)
I don't have any problem with homosexuality and, truth be told, I wondered whether I was for a while, until I realised the idea of naked men doesn't turn me on in the slightest. Although I wouldn't have a problem with kissing another guy, necessarily. (It's happened once before, apparently, but I was f*cking wasted - I don't actually remember it).

Homophobia really pisses me off... The emphasis is totally on the "phobia".

I pretty much agree with you on all of those points :p (one of my friends's mum thought i was gay, until she saw me getting off (thats making out to americans) with my gf in the front room :p

Let's all stand up and say: I wear girl's coats! :D (A friend actually bought me one for my birthday)

Everyone thinks I'm gay. I don't wear anything gay. I don't even think I act gay.

But, yeah, everyone thinks I'm gay.

I like gay people who are openly gay, what i don't like are men who you can't quite tell are gay and certainly don't tell you if they are. I don't mean striat men who are camp, what i mean are men who brush up to you given half a chance or watch you haveing a piss.

I don't like boy George either, I don't know any openly gay people but I know a couple of bysexuals.

Not many gay people are openly gay. Most are silent about it unless you ask, and then they still may deny it. It's because they are afraid, that's all.

got no problem with gay people, one of my best friends is gay, and most of my close friends are either gay or Bi...

Not really bothered, even if they do come onto me, I find it complementing and tell them that I'm afraid that I'm not attracted to them like that...

Something Perfectly natural and is something that is there, live with it...

Oh and everyone I know recons that I'm Gay, or at least Bi, but I'm not and my leanne is prrof of that, and i couldn't give her up for anyone, male or female...

I don't have anything against gay people, of either gender. But I'm not going to deny that I don't like being hit on by gay guys or seeing two gay guys making out. The only real problem I have, though, is when people are so quick to classify people who say that as a "homophobe." I feel just as uncomfortable when a female I don't find attractive is hitting on me, or when my friend is making out with his girlfriend around me. I dunno why, but the point is it has nothing to do with the other people being gay.

I used to work in a computer shop owned by a heavy christian in a heavy christian village and it was so homophobic that on the first day the boss started saying how he thought being gay was disguting. Then another christian who visited the shop used to say homophobic things.

I guess my experience there kinda put a lot towards the reason I hate most christians now. Alas that's going off topic.

Nothing wrong with homosexual people.

you realize all real lesbians are look manly because of hormones that make them that way.
porn lesbians are not real lesbians.

Urkle, not all lesbians look manly. Not even close. Some lesbians look manly, so do some straight women. You can't judge sexual orientation based on looks.

Ok first of all I'd like to apologize, I jumped into the topic way to quickly without even giving a rational thought. I hit myself because I realized later that I was acting like a moron.

My uncle is gay. I just learned about this less than a year ago. For almost 19 years i've been around him, I had absolutely no clue. Yeah they look and act like everyone else for the most part.

Looking back on the thread and yes, it looks like i was being homophobic. :( Generalizing is stupid(directed towards me). Please take this as a sincere apology.

i meant to say 'most' instead of 'all'
Living in toronto with the gay parade, 90% of the lesbians there were manly.

Jenna Jamenson isnt a lesbian, she does that in movies because she gets paid.

I think that homosexuality is latent in all of us and it always has been. Look at any culture in the past when over-population of the area was a problem and you will see that there was a strong gay community. Homosexuality is one of nature's ways to control over-population with disease being another. Tere are WAY too many of us on this planet and we are going to have to have our population cut down dramatically. So I'm thankful that there a moy homosexual people. I'm married and love women (well one woman :) ), but I've had several gay friends over the years. I live in NC and there is so much homphobia here (mainly because we're right in the middle of the bible belt) that it makes me sick. Why would you hate someone or think less of them because how they were born. Thats like a gay person hating you because you don't love to suck cock. Imagine if there were more gays than straights and YOU were the one who was looked down upon. Some people just need to wake up.

wouldn't the population slowly decrease into nothing?

Homophobe is used much too often these days. I loved the comment that earlier that being homophobic is "liking gay people until they bother you". Hell, I must be an everything-a-phobe, because I like most things til they bother me. I liked toast until it tasted bad.( Evil toast-a-phobe, die!!)
Personally I choose the simpler option of saying a homophobe is someone who is afraid of gay people. I know about 5 gay people, two of them I like, the other two are really annoying, petty people. The point is, I'd find them annoying no-matter what their sexuality, however gay men seem to have a greater proclivity to be bitchy, and that is a trait in men I can't stand.
Also the fact that they march for the recognition of their already overtly pervasive and quite noticeable hedonistic behaviour. I think everyone has basic human rights. Gay people have a right to be gay, and I have a right to be protected from people who make me uncomfortable.
Also the propagation of people "jumping on the bandwagon" of homosexuality is quite astounding, and I respect these people far less that those that are born with a homosexual tendency.
I've been saving the best til last:( :D ) it also kind of makes me baulk to think of their sex lives.(though what I should be doing thinking about gay sex is beyond me *whistles innocently*).
Finally; I think everyone should judge for themselves on this issue, if someone called me a paedophile-phobe for not liking paedophiles, I think I'd remain pretty certain that I was in the right, no matter how many people argued against me. Why they should be treated differently to any other form of sexual deviancy is beyond me.
Yay for gay people.Yay for freedom of choice. Boo for people saying everything is homophobic.

Erm, you can't say that paedophilia is as safe as being gay.. it hurts the children, ruins lives, being gay does not do these things to someone.

I never likened it to being gay, paedophiles do not have the consent of a willing adult, they are obviously not the same. Please read the post carefully.

I think that if this were the case, then hetrosexuality would come back to the forefront as soon as the population evened out. Just speculation, though.

So because im bi means I have a mental problem?

Ladies.. men, bring em all

But if it was a mental disorder, are we considered dangerous to other people? Nope.
