Best Gaming Moments

CS:S: Office. The T's were in their spawn mass buying pistols and lagging the shit out of the server. I ran in there (laggingly) with my m4 and managed to kill all of them. Right afterwards the game crashed because I was pretty much ankle deep in glocks.
Lol I always do that when I have a shitload of money and I'm messing around :p

I forgot to add Goldeneye 007 (Nintendo64) to my long list.

Looking at your watch in 3D for your menu/pause screen, equipping 2 machine guns, (and most other weapons) at the same time, lighting fools up with glass shattering, perfectly set up traps with bombs triggered by your watch. Sticky bombs, perfect silenced weapons, the kick ass controls and gameplay, the amazing artwork/graphics, the multi-player 4 way split-screen fun we spent countless hours on, the beautiful, fun, and challenging, single player campaign with rewards based on skill level, the techno bond music, and the first use of a rumble controller...

This game was ahead of it's time, which is right on time in my book.

The future, now.

Half Life 2 - All of Point Insertion, all of Red Letter Day, evading the Combine helo in the sewers, all of Black Mesa East, the bridge, playing chicken with the freight train, the assault on Nova Prospect, seeing Kleiner with the shotgun after you teleport back, finding out that it took you a week to teleport to his lab and while you were gone the revolution against the Combine had started, all of Anti-Citizen One, especially the first strider fight, all of Follow Freeman, Alyx getting captured by the Combine, the assault on the Citadel, the ride through the citadel, getting the Super Gravity Gun, the last strider fight was awsome, chasing Breen and of course, the ending.

Battlefield 2 - The demo days ruled. Every [HL2] clan match was teh pwn. Too bad EA killed it with their latest patches.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - I stole teh elder scroll lol

Halflife 2 Deathmatch

I just won a 2on2 tournament about 1 hour ago, and I'm getting a trophy sent to me in the mail. I'll probably take a picture of it and use it as my spray in-game, lol.

MGS2 - The tanker episode
MGS3 - Ending
StarCraft - Just about everything.
Doom 3 - Hell
Sonic 3 + Sonik & knuckles - Hidden Palace Zone (edited)
Half-Life 2 - Just about everything, but mostly, the beginning, being under the bridge and being just outside the citadel.
Super Mario 64 - The first time I played it, I knew nothing about what my goals were, but it looked so inviting and marvelous back then and just running around, killing enemies, trying different moves was satisfying enough. It was probably the best feeling I've had in my life.

Murray speaks the truth :D

I did about 15 times. Q3dm18 is pretty hard but beating Xaero in a fair fight.. :| That means no camping so you can let him kill himself a thousand times.

Hmm...shit, I got a lot to list.

Zelda: OoT - Killing Bongo Bongo with a quarter of a heart...for the whole battle! Killing Ganondorf, running out of the castle, feeling exhausted and about to take a toilet break, when I hear his voice...and out he comes...turning into Ganon (nearly shat myself). Pretty much the whole game.

Zelda: MM - Arriving on the moon to find a field with a tree in the middle, with children dancing around it. Magical.

Resident Evil 4
- Running into the village laughing my head off as I blast everyone away with the Chicago Typewriter.

Half Life - All the scripted sequences.

Half Life 2 - Everything, but the best would be destroying the gunship in Highway 17 (near the massive road block) then watching in terror as it (fully intact, it didnt break up) crashes into the cars...watching the wonders of physics as they all fly up and smash into each other. And the gunship was still intact.

Super Smash Brothers - Too many to list ^_^

Rayman - Throwing my controller out the window after losing all my credits in the paint land. Not a happy moment, but funny when I look back on it.

Battlefield 2 - The days when I used to own, and lag wasn't an issue (the patches actually foogled up my frame rate more!). One highlight was a clan match that went on for 4 hours (for just one round).

Rome: Total War
- Starting up a custom match with my team having fully armoured elephants versing peasants inside a wall less city. The carnage...

Counter Strike - Desperately fending off zombies in Zombie Horde with a deagle, eventually running out of ammo and charging in like crazy...then somehow I rescued the hosties and won the match.

Battlefield 1942
- Landing on Omaha Beach (we lost our destroyer, so we had no support) and as the door went down on the Higgin's boat we were staring at a Tiger tank. Half of us got out and went through a maelstorm of bullets and shells before the tank found us and blew us to hell. Dogfighting in Coral Sea, with me being the gunner fending off all the Zero's trying to take the plane down. At one point we were smoking heavily and couldn't control the plane anymore, so we jettisoned and boarded their ship ^_^

Medal of Honour: Frontline
- Arnhem (depressing music, terrific level). Normandy landing.

MoH: Pacific Assault
- The Pearl Harbour and Tarawa levels, as well as Henderson Field.

Call of Duty
- Russian missions

Call of Duty 2 - The Russian charge across the field after fending off hundreds of Nazi scum.

List more later...

Rayman 2: The whole game. That was just so awesome.

And I forgot to add this one.

Jedi Knight 2: Fighting my first reborn. Ligtsabercombats are still awesome to play.

I'm sure I have more, but seeing the naval combat in Act Of War: High Treason is still firmly etched in my mind o_O

Too much to mention, so just a top three in no particular order:

Playing Star Wars on the arcade hall machine in the early 80's.
swsmall.jpg

The graphics look very basic now, but back in the day it was like being in the movie yourself. I spent countless coins on that machine. The best part was going into the 'canyon' of the Death Star, i.e. the grand finale of Star Wars ep. IV, a New Hope. Even old Ben Kenobi would whisper from the left speaker to "Use the force" iirc. Teh pwn.

The beach landing in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. That was so amazingly intense. Bullets whizzing everywhere, men screaming, exploshens. It was the first game I got on the rig I bought in 2002. I hadn't gamed regularly for a couple of years, but MoH:AA sucked me right back in.

The first three or four months of BF2 were one best gaming moment after another. Great graphics combined with full on sound and great teamwork to boot. DUDE Squad ftw!!!11!!

cool thread k i'll go with some i can remember:

HL2-the whole intro sequence just fooking pwnt, walking around taking in the train stations atmosphere, throwing cans at the guards, seeing the rays of light beam in through the great big glass-paned window in the lobby, then walking out into the square,

hearing the laughter of kids at the swings, my first encounter with a headcrab eek, nova prospekt was my fav chapter overall along with the chapters in the city like follow freeman etc

Devil May Cry 3- the best cutscenes i've probably seen in a game next to the MGS series, they were so outrageous at times you couldnt help but laugh but also think awesome, the 'hell' section was fantastic and what a nice twist on the usual deisgn of 'hell' type locations *cough* doom3*cough*, the chess board sequence fight was awesome too, great boss battles and fantastic gun & swordplay.

Shadow of The Colossus-trying to keep Wanda's spirit alive at the end, the melancholic music the 1st time you heard it as you defeat your 1st colossus *sniff*..AGRO!!!!!!!!!

Pro Evolution Soccer series-beating your mates in the last minute with a jammy deflected pot-shot never gets old. Mastering Free-Kicks.

Metal Gear Solid- the intro, all the boss fights, grey fox's sacrifice, the story, hiding in a cardboard box :p, the 1st game i really went ''wow'' at...

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty- The tanker sequence, Olga's battle, shooting up the store-room, battles with the A.I particurly the S&D teams and the Arsenal Tengu's. Using the Katana, The Final battle, trying to figure out wtf was going on :p

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater- The last few hours starting with the bike chase was just such a rollercoaster of fun, the final battles setting, the uniqueness of 'the Sorrow's battle, the sniper duel wit The End, the 60's setting, OCELOT! learning the truth about the Patriots and The Boss, Snake shedding a tear at the end.

If you don't fire any other weapons till the end and pwn the Death Star in one shot, then you get bonus points!!!!!

The music from MGS alone counts as a great gaming moment for me. I use to intentionally get seen just to hear the awesome 'chase' music that was played.

Actually, just thinking back on the MGS games now brings back so many memories of great moments.

MGS - Fighting the Hind-D then absailing down the comm tower, Meryl's wounded body scene in Sniper Wolf's caves, Grey Fox's (that was the Ninja's name, right?) sacrifice to Metal Gear Rex and finally, the chase between you and Liquid in the tunnel at the end.

MGS2 - Snake walking along on the bridge, cigerette in mouth before breaking into a run and diving headfirst off the bridge towards the tanker, the entire Tanker chapter, mainly the loonnnnngggg movie at the end. The marines vs. Vamp scene in the generator room then after the marines vs. Fortune, the first Solidius Snake fight on the bridge. Hotdamn, I need to play this game again sometime.

Resident Evil 4 - Knife fight with Krauser. Aye, I was killed so many times, but it was a fantastic scene, and a relief when you finished it.

That seems justified enough for me. :p
You don't KNOW he is going to do it..in teh game. You can't go and kill off of circumstance! "What if he is going to shoot me" sort of thing.

And I remember when I first played Starcraft, and I got to the level when Mangst gave the order to pull out from the planet with Kerrigan being overrun by the Zerg...I was really into the game, so I got really pissed..so Pissed I cheated with power overwhelming, and I rushed through teh level as fast as I could, so it could FEEL like I did my job at getting revenge for what happened to Kerrigan.

<3 Kerrigan forever.

Are we talking about "X-Wing" the old 95 game? Where you could fly the A-Wing, B-Wing, Y-Wing, and X-Wing? Boy I love that game. My first flight sim with a joystick...the ending was always challenging to me.

FFVII: The final battles, although it was kind of anticlimatic -- 3 HARD boss fights and then Sephiroth himself took one hit, ffs.

HL2: Anytime the DnB music comes in at just the perfect moments.

FFXI: I put this one up because it was my first MMORPG and it was amasing. This holds true for any first MMO.

Sims 2: Just the amount of detail is astonishing.

Battlefield 2:
Your first time in a true working squad.

I just had one of my best moments ever on Knights of the Old Republic 2... just wow. And it's about the story, so I won't tell (it's a long and too complex story anyways). It's a bigger experience than the one in Kotor1.. damn I love this game..

Holy diddly shit :p
Sadly, were in the minorty. But who cares? KOTOR 1 pales in comparison to the dark, excellent and truly awesome 'The Sith Lords'. Take that Lucas.

*insert Darth Vader-esque scream*

NOOOOO!O!O!OOooOOOoOOOoooOooO!!!!!!!!

Damn you DeusEx and Samon. I just finished KOTOR1 and was hoping I'd have my life back. Now I have to go and get the sequel and spend all my time playing it. ARGH!

That bit from the original Silent Hill in the ****ed-up school, where you go in the locker room and that corpse comes flying out of the locker. I swear my heart stopped beating for a second or two. :x Also in the hotel in SH2 where you first ascend a small circular stairway, and at the top there's a gate and you hear Mary in the distance. I hadn't played the game for like 3 months at that point, and was only about 5 minutes into a gaming session, and I was so scared I turned the console off.

The Halo ending deserves a mention as well.

Just the pure satisfaction of smashing through a boss fight with ease and a thousand magic missiles. (Any D+D based game)

Ok I just finished Kotor2, and Bioware/obsidian has proven again that their storywriters are true masters. <3

...pff

I think I'm gonna replay both games on the dark side.

Finishing Super Monkey Ball on one credit, with one life to spare :)

I had to take turns with a friend, each of us mastering certain levels. I'd tip my hat to anyone who could do this on their own without their head exploding from the tension!

HL1- Encountering the Gargantua for the 1st time, realizing I was about to be raped.
HL2- Bringing down my first Strider, not realizing I was standing under it when it fell, where its corpse proceeded to rape me/ Fighting alongside Barney.
Black- Leveling an entire encampment into nothing.
Giants: Citizen Kabuto- The game's beginning cutscene.

Halo2: After you blow the s*** out of the scarab

Starlancer: When you destroy the Czar

Call of duty: The stalingrad and red square missions

Medal of honor allied assault: The d-day mission

Need for speed most wanted: After you beat razor and get your car back

Half life 2: At the start of the game with G-man

Halo1: When you first get out of your escape-pod

Jade Empire: When you beat Sun Li

Fable: When beat jack of blades in his dragon form

Mafia - all of it's just brilliant, but at the end, when you realise you've been set up by Sam.

Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker - The last fight with Ganon.

Battlefield 2:

one of our first HL2.NET squad games on the demo map, where everything was new, running together as a squad using mic convo, etc etc

one of the coolest things was when we took a boat to the beach and got strafed by some jets, missing by inches kicking water up into the air... was really cool back then.

Half Life 1- Encountering the 3 tentacles in the blast pit (the scripted scene where the scientist gets killed by the tentacle scared the shit out of me the first time). Fighting the Gargantua. Xen
Half Life 2 - fighting the Striders in the street; part where the Strider brakes through the collapsed tunnel(awesome:D ). The level Ravenholm
Far Cry - First walk outside. The level Fort (probably the best level in that game); running over the soldiers with the jeep.:cheese:
FEAR - The spectacular fights. The explosion at the end of the game. End scene where Alma climbs in the chopper
Pain Killer - Fighting the gigantic bosses:O
Serious Sam - Fighting the end boss
Undying - levels in the haunted mansion and on "the other side"
MOHAA 1 - D-day mission
GTA Vice City - Running like mad through the city with the entire police force on my tale

Socom- Putting on almost every single cheat code and playing online.

Doom 3- Getting through a whole lvl using nothing but my flashlight

World of Warcraft- Starting a line in Ironforge with a total of 73 players.

Full Throttle - Watching the opening scene as that heavy rock kicked in and Ben rode over the limo, the bunnies, the whole ending sequence starting with the semi - overall the whole game was pure kickass, oh, bike combat roxored!

The Metal Gear Solid Series - Too many good moments. Almost every single cutscene was genius along with the sheer variety of gameplay and bosses. My absolute favorite moment would probably be the end of MGS, the music was perfect and finding out that final secret was fantastic.

Zelda: The Ocarina of Time - Realizing how big the world was and how crucial having a horse was. Finally figuring oiut how to beat the Water Temple. The final fight with Ganondorf/Ganon.

The Secret of Monkey Island - Insult sword-fighting. Falling off a cliff and getting a death message... before being propelled back up by a rubber tree. The first time I saw a three-headed monkey.

The Dig - Bringing Brink back to life. The first tram ride. Using the life crystal on the turtle creature. Finally getting to meet one of the creatures from the planet.

Silent Hill - When you go back into the alley at the beginning and get attacked by the children. Creeped me the f*ck out.

Ah, Zelda. How could I forget.

Orcarina of Time

First leaving Kokiri Forest and heading out into the world. The sun was slowly setting, silouhetting Hyrule Castle. I head over the hill leading from the forest, next to Lon Lon Rance, and head for the castle, only to see the drawbridge slowly moving upwards, accompanied by the quiet clanks of the gears. Then a new sound: the sound of dirt being shifted and before I knew it, several skeleton type figures arise from the ground and slowly advance towards me. I ran. I ran as fast as I could push my thumb down on the stick. I was about 9 or 10 at the time. Man, I was scared.

Other things in OOT, like avoiding the guards at Hyrule Castle Grounds/Courtyard, scaling Hyrule Mountain, learning to ride the horse, the race, jumping the Valley gap, avoiding the Gurudo Guards, crossing the desert, the Spirit Temple, being scared of the Re-Dead, the boat ride in the Shadow Temple, playing Tennis with Ganandorf, escaping the crumbing tower and finally, fighting Ganon.

Majoras Mask

One of the best things I liked about this game was the stuff that happened whenever you did other things. Like the task of finding the Wedding Masks (Sun and Moon) over the course of the 3 days. The way it all had to be done had to planned perfectly. Talk to Anjui at so and so time, get the letter from someone else, do this, do that, let the robber mug the old lady at 12 at the West Gate, find his hideout, get one of the masks, do some other stuff, etc. I just loved Clock Town and all the things that could happen.

The Wind Waker

The entire goddamn game. I mean hotdamn, when I got this game 3rd or 5th of May, one of them anyway (I'm getting confused with which date the GC was released the previous or so year) I just sat there in my room, my jaw practicually touching the floor. Wandering around your home Island, meeting your sister, watching the ship chase the Eagle-thing, seeing your sister get taken away, joining the pirates, being propelled in a barrel towards Forbiddon Fortress, sneaking past the guards, waking up in Windfall Island, exploring Windfall (I must of spent about an hour here - I love the towns in the Zelda games. Love the.), setting sail for the first time and revolving the C stick around you as you speed towards Dragonroost island, seeing other boats, islands and those tall, menacing guard towers whip past...

god, I could go on about that game. I loved it so much. I'm going to go play it later.

Every single instant of Shadow of the Colossus, but if I must pick a point, it's this.

You've been staring at the Colossus, who probably hasn't even noticed you, searching for it's weakness, for in truth each Colossus is but a walking puzzle. Sad, mournful music plays as the creature strides through the empty lands. Then you see, there!, that's where I must strike! You run and leap, clinging to its leg, and begin to climb. The creature lets out a roar like stone breaking, and the battle music begins. Crashing brass and swooping strings accompany your ascent as the beast attempts to throw you, then you are at the mark, and stab with all your might. Black blood drenches you as you hack and slash, and the creature begins to buckle before collapsing slain. You almost feel sorry for killing it.

And I consider a game good if it can make you scared of a giant electric catfish.
