If I were to actually sit down and think about it, I'd probably say David Bowie or Maynard James Keenan (everything he touches turns to gold). Or Kirk Hammet. Or Alec Empire. Or Jerry Cantrell. Damn, this is hard...
And you people hoping for the new NIN album by Summer are being way too optimistic. This is NIN for god's sake. Let's look at the facts:
Pretty Hate Machine --> Broken = 2 1/2 year gap
Broken --> The Downward Spiral 3 year gap
The Downward Spiral --> The Fragile = 5 year gap
So I guess we could expect Bleedthrough around 2006

Dr. Freeman said:u should definitely get Pretty Hate Machine and The Fragile
now if ur a hardcore fan.. then getting the remixes is a good idea too :E
'That Kurt guy'!??Frank said:The same goes for Nirvana, even though they were pretty big before that Kurt guy killed himself. It makes me fu-u-u-ucking sick!
KagePrototype said:If you've only got The Downward Spiral, have an open mind when listening to NIN's other work, as they're all rather different. Pretty Hate Machine is definately more of a synth-pop/metal hybrid; Broken is pure Ministry-esque Industrial Thrash; The Fragile is more of a David Bowie/Pink Floyd affair (though more twisted an dark), more atmopsheric and a helluva lot more progressive.
Why stop there? Get ALL the halos! And All That Could Have Been is worth it simply for the extra "Still" mini-album, a bunch of "deconstructed" NIN songs. Effectively, it's NIN unplugged, and it's fantastic. Get the DVD as well. The Perfect Drug is a masterpiece all on it's own, all the remix albums are nice and insanly ****ed up, and most of the singles have a bunch of nice remixes on them.
NIN need to release some sort of Halo boxset at some point. That would be pretty cool.

To me its a toss up between Bruce Springsteen and Bob Marley.
If you say tupac ill kill you
singers are musicians. anyone who composes, performs or conducts music is technically a musician. just fyi.waedoe said:^ is it cause hes black. Any how tupac couldnt even be nominated, because hes a *SINGER* not a *MUSICIAN* he has to acctually be able to play something asides his 9mm.
Dr. Freeman said:wow..lol
i didn't say much about the albums because i thought if he discovered it himself, he'd enjoy it more, but u went all out "deep" in describing the works of NiN hehe did a good job of it too
i think its safe to say this thread should be renamed to "the NiN thread" :E
yeah, i generally wouldn't put film composers (morricone, horner, williams, elfman, etc..) in the running because they tend to be hack artists (ala williams) or one-trick ponies (ala elfman), relatively speaking.Sulkdodds said:Has anyone mentioned Ennion Morricone? He's great.
