Best Videogame Characters Of All Time

Most of my favourite characters have already been mentioned but I didn't see these two:

Minsc - You no take boo! (Baldur's Gate 2)
Lilarcor - The talking sword :D (Badur's Gate 2)

(mario sux)

Edit: Almost forgot the main character from Die By the Sword! "ARGGHHH!! COBOLTS!"

I liked Alma from F.E.A.R since it isn't mentioned and all..

Ryu - The world warrior on a neverending quest to master the power of his fist. He's the quintessential fighter, the man devoted to the perfection of his art. So perfect, in fact, that Capcom never messes with his formula--he only has three special moves, but he will beat the shit out of you with only those three moves. Yeah, they gave him that hcf kick in SF3, but he didn't need it. All he needs is hadouken, shoryuken, and tatsumaki senpuu kyaku. If he had to, he could unleash his murderous intent, the dark hadou--but he won't, because he's above that.

Rockman (aka Megaman) - Imagine, for a moment, that you are one of a sentient race of robots created to help humanity better their lives. Then, because of some crackpot your creator worked with, all your robot brothers go apeshit and start terrorizing humanity! What do you do? YOU KILL THEM AND STEAL THEIR F*CKING POWERS. That's what it's like to be Rockman. You know why they call him Rockman? Because he f*cking rocks, no joke; go ask the creator and he'll back me up. He also created Ryu so he probably knows hadouken too, so what does that tell you?

Geese Howard - F*ck yes, you are the best businessman/crime lord/mayor/martial artist ever. He's immortal. He's invincible. One time I was performing his raging storm in CvS2 and my arcade stick EXPLODED. True story, the joystick's base screws unscrewed themselves and literally popped out of the top of the arcade stick, because Geese Howard is that awesome and raging storm is the most difficult move to master in any video game ever, requiring three months' solid meditation under a waterfall while holding burning hot coals in each hand, and a blood sacrifice. There is no right or wrong here--only winners and losers.

And then he throws himself off a building because he won't accept your kindhearted attempts to save his life. Not like he can die anyway...

The unnamed lead singer of The Dreamers -

Oh my
naked eyes
I should've kept you
I should have tried
I should have been a wiser
kind of guy
I miss you

Give me wings
give me space
give me money for a change of face
Those noisy rooms
and passion pants
I loved you

David. Bowie. In digital form.

Gex - All he wants to do is chill on his barcalounger and watch reruns of M.A.S.H.; but no, here's some jerk who has to suck him into the TV to do battle. One of the funnier, yet often overlooked, characters in video game history.

the main character from Broken Sword series - I think George was his name

The mohwak guy from Mercenaries, bad ass. Although it doesn't speak well for him that I can't remember his name.

Father Grigori is too f**king awesome.

Mario by default.

Jesus.

Cole from Gears of War - I loved his introductory scene where he is fighting all those enemies by himself, taunting them with his badass deep voice.

Cole from Gears of War - I loved his introductory scene where he is fighting all those enemies by himself, taunting them with his badass deep voice.

:D Yeah!

"Yeah, Woo! Bring it on Baby! I got enough for all y'all!"

I actually liked Baird more than Cole, he was such an asshole.

"There's shit everywhere!"

Sarah Kerrigan - Starcraft
GlaDOS - Portal
JC Denton - Deus Ex
Walton Simons - Deus Ex

Anyone from HL, the main protagonists of GTA, Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigen.

also Jazz Jackrabbit of course, how could I forget that funny bunny.

Natalia from Goldeneye N64 - loved her gun
Shephard from OpFor
Slippy for Starfox 64 (just kidding) *does barrel roll*
Stalin from Red Alert 1
The turrets in Portal "we still love you"

Thats all I can think of for now.

Thanatos from Secret of Mana

Koopa Family from Super Mario World

Mallow, Geno, Mack, Bowyer, Boshi, Booster, Belome, Johnny, Yaridovich, Punchinello, Chef Torte, Valentina, and the Axem Rangers from Super Mario RPG (they have to be good for me to still remember their names after so long right?)

Agahnim from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Jon Irenicus from Baldur's Gate II

Isair and Madae from Icewind Dale II

The King of Red Lions from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (the boat!)

Yes, I like my villains.

Freya from FF9
Arthas from Warcraft III

Arthas was such a ****in' pretty boy in WC3. Although, so was Thrall. I mean, Thrall should have been the melee hero for the Horde, not that stupid Blademaster. Sure, Grom Hellscream was kickin', but Thrall was a ****in' beast. If you ever read Lord of the Clans, you'll know.

But ooooh, Ogrim Doomhammer is an awesome character. I think he made a cameo appearance in Warcraft 2, but I can't be sure about that. Rexxar is ... well, Rexxar is Rexxar I suppose.

The goblin sappers in Warcraft 2/3 were adorable. But I'm gonna have to say my favorite Warcraft character is the Alliance peasant. Well, he only gets good when you start clicking on him a number of times :D

Ogres had the best sound clips in the WC games imo.

GLaDOS is the most recent addition to my best characters list.

Sam Fisher - NO ONE is cooler than Sam Fisher.
Big Boss/Solid Snake - Just pure, cold blooded action heroes.
Dr. Breen - What Samon said.
Alyx Vance - The most human character ever created.
Cpt. MacMillan - One level with this guy and I already loved him to bits, 'Hey Sussie! <smack>' and who calls a dog a pooch. ****ing Legend.

Won't go into any long explanations since I can't be assed right now. They should speak for themselves any way. In no particular order:

Annah-of-the-Shadow - Planescape: Torment
Morpheus - Deus Ex
Alyx Vance - Half-Life 2
Wallace Breen - Half-Life 2
G-Man - Half-Life 2
Sarah Kerrigan - StarCraft
Praetor Fenix - StarCraft
Helios/JC Denton - Deus Ex: Invisible War
GLaDOS - Portal
Demoman - Team Fortress 2

Probably others, but they don't come to mind right now.

Why so few Kane votes? He wins all gaming imo.

Albion - Drirr as well as Sira and Melthas
Fallout - Richard "Grey" Moreau
Beyond Good & Evil - Jade
Call of Duty series - Capt. Price
KOTOR 2 - Kreia
Deus Ex - Paul Denton
C&C - Kane
