Bink video sound sync

It's not completely half-life related, but since most people here have viewed the hl2 videos I figure someone might have run into the same issue I have.

When I play any of the bink hl2 videos, I notice that the sound gradually loses sync with the video as time goes on (it lags behind). It takes about a minute and a half before it becomes noticeable, so some movies aren't really affected. It's most obvious in the traptown video.

I have no problems playing regular mpeg or avi movies and have the latest drivers for both my sound and video card. I'm really not sure what it could be.

System specs are
P4 1.4ghz
256 RDRAM
Radeon 9600 pro (I still had sync problems with my former geforce3)
Philips acoustic edge sound card
Plenty of free HD space

Windows XP home

-Tried playing with and without anti-virus (NAV2002) software enabled
-Tried every blitting style with RAD video tools
-Tried downloading hl2-traptown.exe from different sources other than steam

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for reading.

EVERY blitting style? cause i run a pretty low-ened system and i get perfect sync w/ a certain blitting style

Yes, all the blitting styles among other options. I just can't believe no one else on either the steam or this forum has run into this problem (and posted about it). I even tried converting the video to avi but it refused to use half the codecs and the ones it did use made the product look terrible. It just won't work.

My computer can't really handle the vids no matter what I do. However, the sync isn't sooo bad. The lip syncing is a little behind, but otherwise it seems okay.

The movies themselves lag a great deal on my XP2000 with a clocked gfDDR, which I think is just stupid. For now, I've simply re-encoded all the movies to XViD, but a lot of the great details are lost. so what's the fastest bltting style available for playing Bink-videos, while still maintaining the resolution and detail?

I use UYVY off screen and it works perfect for me.

Thanks, that worked like a charm!

it's still slightly choppy at times, but it's way better than before.

I think gabe said the demos had a LITTLE LITTLE bit unsynchronozoizonotzt! (if that's a word) But i might be wrong.

That was to do with the demo recording optimisation. Things broke before getting hit. I think the guy being impaled on the Strider's Leg suffers from the same problem.

EDIT: Impladed isn't a word.

I just put the blitting style to DirectDraw To Primary Surface. Works really well for me (athlon 850, 384mb ram, 128mb vid card).

I have another problem with RAD Video Tools:
When I click at Advanced Play and change the Blitting style to DirectDraw UYVY overlay and I would like to have it like that always when seeing a Bink-file, so I click at "Set as Quick", which I think was ment to mean that when you open a Bink-file outside RAD Video Tools it will open the way you set it in "Advanced play" but it won't stay that way.
