Ok, ive never done this and never will atm because abit's website isnt responding to downloads on alot of things.

My concern is : does it actually improve the system in speed etc? is it hard to do first time? do i need a floppy disk to do it? i

Yeah, ABIT's FTP server went down I think, flooded maybe. All I know is that there was a brand new driver release and I was BARELY able to get my mobo drivers last night.

As for your question, ABIT has a util called flashmenu. It is an optional installation that is actually quite nice, I did my first BIOS update on my AN7 using it. It's completely automated except for the typical "are you sure" boxes.
As for speed, that depends, from what I have seen on my side for the AN7, is mostly SATA fixes for situations that only happen on accident. What you might want to look for is stuff like:
-fixes for RAM clock
-fixes for FSB clock
-fixes for SPD speeds
-ATA or SATA fixes

While some may not be of any use to you, it's always good to check. I in fact I stayed 1 revision behind on my BIOS, just because the last fix did not affect me.

Usually things like that can fix performance although rarely.
For performance I would lean more towards the new releases of the ABIT motherboard drivers. Mine had a load of new fixes.

i agree here, the only time i flash mobo bios, is if i have specific issue that needs to be resolved, or they actually do some tuning of the timings etc..

rest of time just keep you drivers updated, you be surprised how many people don t do this, it solves quite a few problems
