Bioshock 2 Reviews

I am loving this game so far... the splicers are delightfully mutated, brute splicers, big sisters (and of course big daddies) are a different, fun challenge, they brought "back" the Rumbler big daddy, there's a lot of detail in the levels, the various mini stories being told by the random tape recorders are compelling, there's actual game play ramifications of your choices with the little sisters, the sub bosses are good stories unto themselves, and your drill attacks are devastating... like the Sandman taunt; if you set your attack up right, you'll knock them across the map.

Some of the texture are surely bad, but overall I thougth the graphics were better than the first. They fixed the physics bug, and with everything maxed out @ 192x1200, it rarely (never?) dips below 60 fps.

There is a keymapping bug though, and at the time of ths post it hasn't been fixed, but here's how to get around it (although if this is a deal breaker for how you map your keys, you should wait for a fix). Certain functions only work with the default bindings, specifically the F key for one of the little sister options. F is always reload for me, so I had to change that, and the Stop button for the mini games was also borked, but the primary fire (left mouse button) works, and is frankly a better option. The other keybindings seemed to be remappable with no problem, but I might be using the default, and wouldn't notice.

I'm guessing I'm about a third of the way through the game. I put it on medium difficulty, but I'll be changing that soon - I can't run out of money or ammo (most types), even if I'm horribly sloppy with the gameplay.

I'm playing through it right now and loving every second. I guess every body has their own tastes, but this game fits mine 100%.
