Bioshock comes to Steam!

Anyone else apart from me and Samon still getting the 360 version?

Only the ones that happen to have a 360 and/or as computer with worse specs than the 360.

You cannot possibly suggest that offering the game for download through steam would warrant anywhere near the same cost as boxing and shipping it out to stores (including all the management behind this)?
I wasn't being sarcastic about the IDK...
I was throwing out an idea. ;)

Funny, I know I already paid for this game, but I have no idea how much it was.

Holy f-ing awesome indeed!

Im contemplating not eating for a week to get this.

Anyone in the UK bought this? Whats the full price including VAT? Im tempted to buy this but am already getting it for the 360.

Edit: To answer my own question ... its about ?32. Sod that! for the I can get a hard copy version delivered and still have change! If it was about ?25 I MIGHT consider it.

well in Australia the retail version is $20 more (US49.95=AU$60.20) and the CE is $30 more. For Australians Steam is the best thing to happen to gaming as it means we can purchase games that cost the same as they do in the US.

The only trouble is that I was dead set on getting the CE (AU$90) but a model and a making-of aren't worth $30 to me ($10 yes, $30 no)

Worth getting a hard-copy for the Model :D

Man i saw want it on steam, but i want my Limited Edition more. Why is the limited edition not listed on bestbuy btw?

Oh and will we be able to register the copy of the game on steam like Dark Messiah and Prey?

Finally,a game maker who didnt cheap out on a stupid multiplayer option.Single player is the way games should be played and Bioshock will be a GREAT one at that!

Ok i think iv come to the decision to play this game when i get my new pc, which is going to be around Crysis. I need to play this at the highest possible settings.

Online you can get a head copy for ?25 from play.com or amazon.co.uk or gameplay.com

That is just teh cool! i'm getting the collectors edition but installing on steam. all my fav games in one place :afro:

[Raises hand]

I don't think my pc will run it like I want to (AMD 64 x2 4200, 2GB RAM, 7800GT). If anyone can tell me it will run great (I'm too lazy to look up the system requirements), I will pre-order it through Steam

Ah... forgot about that ;( I'll be buying it from gameplay.com then, steel case and delivery on the day for ?24.99.

whats the meaning of preloading. you mean the bioshock files are downloaded onto your computer? That cannot be possible. Or is it just the demo?

yea you get the files in your computer for the full game
you just wait till they unlock it on aug21

They are encrypted until launch day and some files are not even included yet.

Cancelled order off play to get this on Steam and, oh bugger.
The dreaded credit card problems are back again.... have raised a ticket since my bank says they authorised it...

You seen the review on Eurogamer. Sounds like one of the best games ever made!

Excited? Just a bit :D

I just watched some trailers. Must...find...monies!

just read this else were. kinda sucks but i still get to play the game :E
Is he serious? I thought Steam had a feature where you could input a CD key to register your copy on Steam, kinda like with HL1. Or is this some kind of difference b/t the collector's edition and the normal hard copies?

Not all games so far only Dark Messiah and Prey and any Valve game.

Why does everyone seem to forget Red Orchestra and Lost Planet? :|

V-Man's question on Bioshock

When was this game released, because I've honestley never heard of it other than in a magazine.
Sorry if I seem like an idiot but I'm just trying to find out information.

Released

21st August - US/Canada
24th August - Europe

Aus is also the 24th and I've hear some French folks are having a hard time and going as far as to say the 31st.

I think I may know what happens at the end.....

WARNING DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE AWAITING THE GAME, OR DON'T WANT IT SPOILED.
(may not be true) I heard the other day that someone saw an achievement on thier xbox that says that the main character you play becomes a big daddy.

The longer they take to release the PC demo, the more worried I am that the full game for the PC is still littered with bugs. If they're struggling to get the demo out before the PC game ships (which from what I've read is simply the first portion of the game with extra weapons), then doesn't that mean that the full game is, well, unfinished? It doesn't give me much confidence.

If I do decide to pick this game up, it will most definately be on the Xbox360.

I really thought that this game would be more demanding, not too bad.Crysis will be a bastard to run though...

Shame on the potential inability to register a hard copy on Steam. (Same thing with me looking at my copy of Commandos 3 and realizing there was no CD key)

I'll let you guys do the compatibility testing first. I should also do a little research on the hard copy as well, though I tend to prefer Steam over having a manual that I hardly read, a DVD that I will scratch to hell, and a box that I will throw away.

No reviews I have read have mentioned it being bugged to shit lick BoilingPoint et al :hmph:

From what I have read the team are just making sure the demo works on as many systems as possible

Wow, the game looks beautiful. I don't like to read up too much on very atmospheric games. I watched a couple of trailers and a 5 minute gameplay bit to make sure I'd enjoy the game, but I'm gonna keep the spoiling to an absolute minimum from here on out.

It's sooo much better that way.

I also canceled my pre-order from game uk. Although more expensive on steam, its worth it for ditching the hassles of the disc and copy protections.

I'm a bit reserved about buying all these pricey games on steam, I mean I might be mistaken but aren't all your purchases and CD-keyes imprinted on your steam account meaning if it gets hacked or otherwise indisposed, you're shit out of luck and will have lost all your money's worth.

Or is this only applicable for Valve's own games HL2 etc.
