Bird flu found in the UK

NO, bcos burd flku generates from poor unliving countriues, who dont have the money to contain this. Then people who live there, flee to UK and then pass all their diseases onto us.

Hmm, as you seem to believe a bird flu can spread via humans, I don't believe you get what these media scares are actually about about (I believe it was a huge point in the source - the stimulus of the topic). The whole point is that it's spread by birds, BUT HAS NOT MUTATED (I think you said mutants earlier) to spread via humans yet! And then you said some rubbish about it being in a high percentage of the air (it was something like 80%, i'm too lazy to laugh at your post again).

TA DAH!

Lister, merely stated that if you're abusive, you'll be punished. This isn't a democracy and there are no human rights. If you say anything the moderators deem punishable...there's really nothing you can do to stop them. :p

In any case, you are being a little shall we say needlessly defensive. The whole 'racist' thing was a joke and not even aimed at you.

I thought it wasn't spread via air, but just close contact?

We'll every disease cold / flu u get these days isn't just b'cos u sat near or talked to the guy/girl next to u. Its in the air, u could be in a confined space ie elevator or in a large open space a football ground. the disease is in the air and u will 99.9% most of the time get infected.

Although technically it's carried on bits of sneeze and water droplets in breath, surely?

by eliminating the birds i dare say will not free us from the virus. I think that if u shot dead a bird that was carrying the disease and some blood splattered from this bird onto the ground, what guarantee have we got that a smallest insect we could find was NOT carrying it?

Sulkdodds, I really hope none of that penultimate post was aimed towards my reply.

(off topic) JiMmEh, I'm listening to interpol rarities type things and watching your avator spin... amazing combination.

Weren't they saying it could be transmitted on door handles and such? Or was that something else?

Lister, I doubt the entire country could be infected because a bit of the virus is in the air. It'd probably die without a host, which is why you can only get it by being sneezed on or living with infected birds or something right now. (I don't know much about this whole thing so I could be totally wrong)

You mean MOST diseases. Not all diseases are transerred through the air. And 99.9% of all the times? If your disease resistance is too low to withstand it, you get ill. Else, you don't get ill unless you live in a space that has 90% bacteria and 10% air.

And lister, please get clued up, or at least tell people that it's only what you think. People might believe you and start thinking bird flu is passed on through blood. :-/

Which one? ALL of mine have been in reply to lister.

We'll thats the whole point, my answers were what i thought.

SimonomiS, he's been warned. To be fair, he was provoked (jokingly, I know, but still...)

In this whole 'pandemic', no one seems to have thought about the birds :( millons culled, poor things.. better than dying of bird flu I guess, if that's what would have happened otherwise. Poor ickle things

Maybe it is b'cos ive watched too many horror movies.

But it is a possibility, maybe not in this day of age, but it may happen one day. Who knows what they are developing in these secret labs?

Yeah, I guess when humanity is under even a slight threat consideration for other species goes out the window. The only people who I've heard of being really distraught about the masses of birds being killed are farmers and people who breed them. And most of the time that was mainly financial reasons, going to be a really tough year for a lot of fowl owners.

Well, I might think that your mom is incredibly hot and that I'd like some piece of that hot mom-ness, but that would be very offensive to you and while they are my own thoughts, I do not share them (nor think them :p) because they are offensive to some people.

And I found it offensive that you seem to shove the blame on immigrants from random poor countries... Only Russia, Turkey and (another country, forgot :p) have bird flu, remember? (Well, these are the ones considered "poor"...)

So people that come from there MIGHT be infected with bird flu (seeing that not the entire country is infected) are suddenly ALWAYS responsible for spreading bird flu, while birds that are infected spread the disease is a much more realistic scenario.

Yeah :( for something which has most probably been overexaggerated too. It'll take a while for them to recover from this. Even worse with the sales of poultry decreasing

Maybe we don't pay enough attention to epicdemics and potentially dangerous diseases? But the fact is, the risk of Bird Flu infection really isn't that high, not to mention that we're apparently all stocked up with ambrosia...I mean, vaccine.

Also, immigrants aren't to blame.

Thank's for that, much appreciated. Right lets get back to the Bird Flu story.....

Q: How do humans catch bird flu?

Bird flu was thought only to infect birds until the first human cases were seen in Hong Kong in 1997.

Humans catch the disease through close contact with live infected birds.

Birds excrete the virus in their faeces, which dries and becomes pulverised, and is then inhaled.

From the BBC Q&A. Just thought I'd clear that up.

Vaccine that might not even work :|

There is news sources stating that only half of the UK population can be jabbed with e vaccinations. Tony Blair said there is enough for every-1 in the UK. LIAR!

Lister, no hard feelings, eh mate? ;)
Just kidding about that "your mom" thing, but racism (I now know you aren't one of them) is a really touchy subject with me.

Ok, back to the bird issue :

I WILL DESTROY ANYONE WHO WANTS TAKE MY CHICKENS AWAY FROM ME!!!!!11111 :frown: :frown: :frown:

It's for their own good.

What's the story on MRSA (or is it MSRA?) anyway? That seems slightly more worrying, at least to me.

On the one hand, humans have survived many diseases in the past and have pretty good and adaptable immune systems and it could all be an overreaction.

On the other hand, it might be the end of the world.

Lies! My Chickens Of Doom (COD, not to be confused with the popular murder simulator) will show that the end of the world is at hand, not any of this 'disease' crap!

Bird flu is nothing to panic about in this country, for gods sake.

I'm starting to think that God exists, but is really a kid playing with the 'disasters' feature on some simulator.. heh

Yeah, I've felt a bit like nature's getting revenge for all the shit we've done. Does seem like a lot of disasters in not too long a time span.
