The Black Mesa Source team has released another update including new Surface Tension media - but in HDR! You can find the full text at the BM:S ModDB page but in short:
[br]</br>New members joining the team are Laz, Limper and Raminator, employing their expertise in textures and skins, modeling, and level design respectively. New forums are now up here. The entire BM:S website is soon to undergo a total overhaul. Meanwhile, you can find new soundtrack snippets in the media section (unfortunately the html version is currently down for maintenance, so you'll have to use the flash version - as if that's a bad thing. The team are also looking for new talent in level design and skinning/textures.[br]

Wow Half-Life in the Source engine and HDR? Cool! :D
 
Not only are they doing well in the visual department they have some kickin sounds on their site as well.
 
Those displacements look like they weren't done in hammer. They look like they were done in that other program and imported. Genesis?

Either that or they're just huge models.

They were all done in hammer.

oldagerocker - Could you elaborate please as to why you think this? Can take a look into making them look a little more realistic if possible. Could be the texture or normal map too.

Any votes you guys can give us for the ModDB awards would also be very appreciated, we want to try get in a few more categories this year, got third place for the best web site last year.

Good luck with this. Most of you know my skeptical standing on this mod, but by god I think you guys have a chance at something incredible.

Nope, they are displacements. All done in Hammer, custom.

great!, now hurry up and merge with nightfall mod so we can have one constinious story from bm to prehl2 and learn what happened to all the hl monsters like houndeyes adn bullsquibs

one thing im really starting to notice though is a huge lack of ingame characters in mods other then mp mods where they pretty much just replace the models for cs

this far afterwards i would def hope to see that

To be fair, commenting on HDR on static shots is pretty difficult. You either can't tell the difference or it just looks like the same image with a photoshop filter applied.

When it's in-game or moving...that's when it looks good!
 
Amazing picture; the only thing that I would change is the cliff side; the cliffs are too round, there should be more steep edges. Otherwise, a damn sweet job guys.
 
The best part of it is... You'll get to be there. In BM: S.

God, I can't wait. Yet, we have to wait a whole year for it to come.

But it's so hard to acheive roundness in games, I say keep it.

Looks nice as usual but is that the only new shot?

Right, because we all know that Half Life 1, the game that this mod is trying to emulate and improve upon, sucked major yak-balls. I mean, look at this! Half Life 1 was such a terrible game, and these poor bastards are obviously not putting any effort into their mod. This is doomed to be a great failure.

Open your goddamn eyes. These people seem to be giving it their all, and who the hell wouldn't want to get a chance at playing through Half Life 1 again, especially when it looks this good? Right now, the bar is set at HL:Source. That is very, very low. There's a difference between hype and genuine public interest.
