A sharp-eyed reader points out that Blizzard added three new positions on their job openings page yesterday for a "next-gen MMO."

The company is looking for a lead engine programmer, lead tools programmer and lead technical artist. While the reader theorizes that this is for a console port of World of Warcraft, my money is on World of Starcraft or something like it.

Remember, yesterday was also when Blizzard told us that they intend to announce a new product at th Worldwide Invitational in Korea on May 19. They also said they do plan to revisit the StarCraft universe at some point in the future.

What do you think? A new World of Warcraft, a Starcraft MMO, oooh, maybe Lost Vikings the MMO?

Who knows if these announcements are related, though.

Lol no shit I dont about the box deal but yah I would be happy. In the latest issue of game informer they had an article about the future of MMO's and they mentioned something about World of Starcraft. I think its only inevitable that it will happen but probably not for some time.

as much as I like the idea of D3 there's already Diablo 3 ..it's called Elder scrolls Oblivion ..3d is the obvious route this time around as is open ended gameplay but it's already been done ..I'm hoping if this is the case they'll add some innovation into mix ..perhaps co-op?

Blizzard's not like that at all, they don't really build up the hype... they usually end up releasing a ****-load of media and stuff when they announce the title.

Depends, the end of the month has passed for Korea but there is still several hours left in America. Even so I'm starting to think that this was nothing more than a rumour .

They never said "AS SOON AS MAY BEGINS WE WILL MAKE THE ANNOUNCEMENT" It's just sometime in May.

The long-rumoured new instalment of Blizzard's massive StarCraft series is set to be unveiled later this month - and it's another massively-multiplayer online game in the style of World of Warcraft, CVG can reveal.

Mmmm Ok, I was under the impression that the announcement was due by the end of April.

A Starcraft MMO? I haven't really been attracted to MMOs before but since it is Starcraft I'll probably give it a go.

How were you under this impression? The only thing Blizzard ever said about announcing a game was in May, which is what this thread is about. Where did you ever come up with april?
