It should be rather obvious that he's questioning the possible hypocrisy of claiming that you're trying to co-exist rather than compete with the Cryteks and ids of the gaming world on the one hand and splattering an uber-hype quote from CNN at the top of the official HL2 page that states the direct opposite on the other.

I don't think there's any mystery: the Belgian guy thought it was worth discussing while the others, on the other hand, just didn't and derided him... maybe because it's a dichotomy we are pretty accustomed with.

I rarely appreciate such marketing strategies and I always think that the very first to laugh at these ridiculous pieces of propaganda are the smart guys of the company's tech department...

The point of this guy's post is that Gabe says HL2 isn't about competing againts its fellow top tier games. BUT, right on their website they quote CNN saying "blows away competition." A bit hypocritical, eh?

Some people really do have issues with other people who can't speak proper english. Remember, it doesn't mean, just because of their bad grammar, that they're kids. There are other countries out there, you know. Countries that doesn't speak english as their native language.

If you would just take two seconds to take a look at his location...BELGIUM. get a clue, his first language is probably not english, therefore his grammar and spelling may not be up to your high standards. But nonetheless his point got accross, obviously not to some of the...to put it bluntly, dumber people on these forums. But it got accross to those who know what's going on.

I don't think locality is an issue; rather it's age or most likely a combination of the two.
My first language isn't English either but I don't think there's too much wrong with my comprehension or verbalisation skills.

Of course, people like Caminante being an immature ass about the situation doesn't improve matters one bit.
