Well, after hours of fiddling with things on my own in hopes of correcting this problem, I'm finally at the point where I think I need some help...lol.
I'm having a problem with both Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and Counter-Strike. Any time I go to load HL2
, or ANY CS game, whether it's Condition Zero, Source, or just plain ol' Counter-Strike, I get a blue screen error and my computer reboots before I can even get in game. With CS applications this always happens when I click the "Find Server" button, and with Half-Life, I can view servers, and select one, but typically somewhere around 1/4-1/3 of the way in, I get this dreaded error message stating something to the effect of "DRIVER_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". Now, I've updated every driver on my system except the motherboard, and I'm about to go crazy trying to do that...You see, the Intel site specifically says to put the drivers on a floppy and install them that way, but all I've got is a DVD/CD burner. Anyway, that's just a side topic, and if anyone could enlighten me on how do update that specific driver, I'd be forever grateful!
Like I said, I'm really at a loss for what to try next, because I know my system is fully capable of playing these games because I can play the offline version of the standard Half-Life 2 game without a hitch. It just seems to be something having specifically to do with connecting to servers or online play.
My system specs are as follows:
Pentium D 820 2.8ghz
Intel D945PSN motherboard
2 gigs of PC4200 DDR2 RAM (which I've run a really long mem test on already)
Geforce 6600gt with 128mb DDR3 (PCI Express)
I'd appreciate any help anyone would be able to offer, and if you need any more info, please let me know.
Thanks for your time!
