Yet another psycho...

CHICAGO (Reuters) - At least 18 people were shot when a gunman opened fire at Northern Illinois University outside Chicago on Thursday, CNN said, quoting its local affiliate.

It appeared that the gunman had either been taken into custody or had been killed.

"Campus police report that the immediate danger has passed," the university's Web site said. "The gunman is no longer a threat."

One local media report said police had the gunman in custody, other media reported he was dead.

A hospital near the campus said it expected to receive up to 15 people wounded from the incident.

A local newspaper said the gunman was armed with a shotgun and a pistol.

I just heard that on the radio. God not again ;(

Again? What's with all the shootings these days :|

:(

Scary. Shootings at unis in particular frighten the hell out of me.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that these people target schools/universities etc. because they know noone else there will have a gun. Banning weapons from the campus just turns the whole area into a shooting gallery.

I heard recently about a girl who shot two people with a revolver or something.

I honestly think there are so many of these damned things because of how strict we have become, "zero tolerance" for anything apparently isn't working so well.

I have some friends who go to NIU and they said it was a chaos. i freaked out cuz i thought my close friend from HS might have gotten shot....

Jesus H. Christ. /facepalm :dozey: I'm sick of these idiotic, pussy, emo-ass losers shooting up everybody at schools just because their life sucks. :frown: If this guy is still alive, I say the justice system should sentence him to be "draw-and-quartered", or at least corporal punishment via nailed bat. :frown: The media should be punished too for making a big deal out of this. That's exactly what these fools want.

there was one around here in cleveland a few months ago who shot some kids because he was mad that his girlfriend had broken up with him. what a selfish little ****ing prick
Zombie! No more please! I beg you! I...think...I'm goon..na strangle some EMOS! Arrrrgh! I can't take it anymore!:devil::devil: *Saturos leaves to go strangle some emos*

God damn.

Or because the people doing the shootings are also students of the univerisities in question and the uni comprises their social environment.

I think that's more likely than "oh, this place has no guns, therefore I'll shoot it up."

Gun-free zones aren't exactly guaranteed to be exploded, and these people know they will be killed; I'm not sure they're exactly thinking strategically about where to strike best to do the most damage to society in general with the least risk to their own lives. Though often we hear they've prepared a plan of attack, I feel those are more about locally taking out as many as possible and also stimulating a military fiction.

You're making a very laboured point. It might be fair to say that this wouldn't have happened if the law was different, but it's ridiculous in this case to say the culprit acted because of that law.

The news makes a big deal out of it, so the idiots know its a good way to become famous.

I want to become famous and still be alive.

Oh yeah, and also not a murderer.

Raz, you and me, we could hit the big time. All you need to do is bugger cows on camera. I shall be your fluffer, if you will allow me the honour - no, the pleasure!

:O

I don't love cows in that way!

Fame is not all it's cracked up to be. :p I'd like to use public stalls without the worry of some freakazoid fanboy ripping the stall door down for an autograph. No thanks. I'd rather make a fortune one day discretely and not having anyone know about it thank you very much. :dozey: Plus, practically everything you'd do, you run the risk of the papparazi snatching photos for omg.com, Star!, or any of those celebrity news column magazines. It's no wonder why celebs go crazy on drugs and can't hold a marriage.

Oh, you and your crazy ramblings, Saturos.

Oh, you and your crazy ramblings, Saturos.
Thank you. A bit blunt, but I'll accept. :p I view the rest of the world as insane, so it must be a compliment if everyone else thinks the same of me.

It's just the way you post and the walloftextsystemspecs you have as your sig. They always make me think you're rambling.

Often you are though.

I post my specs as my sig so when I ask for assistance in the Software & Hardware Forums, I don't have to post that stuff all over again. :p

For my posts you say you don't understand though, well, it's not my fault you can't understand English. :p I believe my grammar and spelling is pretty accurate tbh and if you ever spoke with me in person, I'm sure you'd agree that I don't stutter either. I could try indenting paragraphs in longer posts, if that's what you mean.

Heard this on the radio. FFS, thats what you get with shitty parenting and a economy where mental kids can get hold of guns.

Something must be done. Why does it seem the U.S. is the only country having trouble with these mall/school shootings of late? Strict gun regulations may be enforced here in the U.S. soon if this keeps up. What a mess that would turn out to be. Americans love their guns. :p

Seriously, if you are feeling like going and shooting people, shoot yourself in the head first. I promise it will make you feel better.

4th school shooting in the US in one week.

That's bad.

For some reason this was made worse by the fact he killed himself. Urgh, I hate these incidents, because there's nothing I can do, and nothing I can say, but I feel like something has to be done.

I think I'll swear.

damn these idiots who decide to go berserk when their life sucks. they give all losers a bad name. shame on them.

Its happening so often now that I don't even get that sudden shock like I used to :(

That seems to happen a lot in the US.

It still shocks me that a country legalised selling of guns. Guns are so too dangerous that it should not be sold to civilian.

I think all these people are radicalists sent out by this organization called the "Anti-Gun" group people who desperately in favour of banning guns in USA and they carry out such acts. :|

On a serious note though, it's really terrible that this happened..

The law allowed it to happen. If teachers, and indeed the adult students who are legally allowed to carry a gun elsewhere, were not prevented from doing so on campus, this would never happen.
The safest areas of the US are those few where every adult must by law be armed, and by far the most dangerous are the areas with excessive gun control (Washington DC for example).

Why does society produce these self-centered psychopathic ****s.

Humans can't function properly in groups as large as we do. After the first 5,6,7 hundred people, you just become nameless faces. I'm sure that this helps unbalanced people kill others.

Can't remember where the lines are from, but they illustrate the point

"Kill anyone?"
"Just a couple of cops"
"No people?"
"No, just cops"

If you stop thinking of other people as people, I suppose you lose any objections you'd have with killing them.

My ?0.01

Where the hell is there a place where its mandatory to carry a gun?

oh come on repiv with your utterly ridiculous notion that an armed student body would have prevented this, we've been through this a dozen times ..it could have easily turned into the gunfight at the okcorral, you have absolutely no way of proving your point

anways sooner or later america, you're going to have to adress the issue of gun accessibility

Or ask themselves why people do this in the first place.

Protip: Guns don't turn people into lunatics.

No not recently.

And none at schools or universities. That goes for the UDA/UVF/LVF etc. too.
