In the new 'tenement' video, we see more clearly that Breen is on the TV's in every apartment. Discuss.
Why would everyone choose to listen to Breen all day? Unless of course the TV's cannot be turned off (they did all seem to be the same type), but what would stop people unplugging them or smashing them? This implies that the Combine has greater power over people than we thought...
Maybe people choose to listen to Breen. He is probably the only thing on TV, so maybe they listen for the latest news. Or maybe they have all been slightly brainwashed ("Don't drink the water!") and they don't realise Breen is a tool of the enemy.
Moving on to what he actually said. He seems to be trying to reassure the people in the block by reading out and answering questions he supposedly 'recieved' as letters.
One question: "Do our benefactors really know what's best for us? What gives them the right to make decisions on behalf of mankind?"
I think this pretty much proves that the combine aren't from around here. I also notice that Breen evades the question, saying something about wanting to 'dispel your fears instead of anwering every specific question you might have'.
BTW, I think that the tenement video is amazing, it really shows off the great graphics and great interactivity of the HL2 world. Opinions? Any thoughts welcome.
