In the new 'tenement' video, we see more clearly that Breen is on the TV's in every apartment. Discuss.

Why would everyone choose to listen to Breen all day? Unless of course the TV's cannot be turned off (they did all seem to be the same type), but what would stop people unplugging them or smashing them? This implies that the Combine has greater power over people than we thought...

Maybe people choose to listen to Breen. He is probably the only thing on TV, so maybe they listen for the latest news. Or maybe they have all been slightly brainwashed ("Don't drink the water!") and they don't realise Breen is a tool of the enemy.

Moving on to what he actually said. He seems to be trying to reassure the people in the block by reading out and answering questions he supposedly 'recieved' as letters.

One question: "Do our benefactors really know what's best for us? What gives them the right to make decisions on behalf of mankind?"

I think this pretty much proves that the combine aren't from around here. I also notice that Breen evades the question, saying something about wanting to 'dispel your fears instead of anwering every specific question you might have'.

BTW, I think that the tenement video is amazing, it really shows off the great graphics and great interactivity of the HL2 world. Opinions? Any thoughts welcome.

I wont really comment on this, because i have read the script, but i agree with you that the bink was fantastic

But about them listening to breen all day..well maybe they cant turn them off, and if they smash them or unplug the combine may be notified or something?

That suggests that the combine have some sort of technology to closely monitor the people in City17 (which we had really already guessed).

I have PrintScreened the Bink and we can see that the TV does seem to be hardwired into something. Maybe the combine set up a special BreenVision network to replace the existing TV system.

Oh, and thanks for not mentioning anything from the script, I appreciate it.

its amazing that its actually PLUGGED into the wall, in alot of games, the television just just there, magically playing without any appearent power source.

Yeah like after the 3rd "oops it accidently fell out the window" you would think the combine would move it......

Hmmm...i might have some fun pushing over the table :D

Then the poor citizens wont have to listen to breens propaganda crap

It would be funny to knock over the TV and have the Combine rush in and beat the hell out of the residents... I'm going to have some fun with the people in City17.

I think if that happened 'Oops, you and all your possesions accidentally fell out of the window, followed by a grenade' would not be far behind.

True, I wonder if they WILL act all fanatic about Dr. Breen's audio/visual transmissions.

i cantwait to play that scene. so much going on.
