Brink game footage

And theres the gift of the console generation, insta kill melee hits. PASS

I can't help but wonder how well(if at all) the bots will utilize the SMART system to outflank and outmaneuver their opponents?

It looks slick but that gameplay footage isn't that overly impressive to me. I Am more interested to see the multiplayer component of the game than anything else.

I dislike the sound of all these things they're doing for "accessibility". Aim assist with a mouse, really? I know they're calling it "gravity wells", but I'm reminded of that Dead Space Wii game where they kept saying "It's not a rail-shooter, it's a guided first person experience!!!". Bullshit, it's aim assist, plain and simple. I don't really like the look of the SMART system, either. It seems like the Mirror's Edge system is far more intuitive, flexible, and skill based than this "Assassin's Creed FPS" style. I really liked Splash Damage's work in the past, especially Wolf: ET, which is right up there with TF2 as my favorite multiplayer game of all time. But they seem to be doing everything in their power to alienate me.

I simply cannot understand why anyone would choose to create such a bland looking environment. It's looks like a messier Borderlands without any of the charm.

Let's not base too many decisions on low quality footage of an unfinished game running on a console ;)

Obviously touched up, but a good indication what the PC version will look like.

The PC was there first.

A mysterious stranger told me this is a misinterpretation. There is no aim assist for the PC version. As for the smart system, let's try it before branding it an unintuitive Mirror's Edge copy. My only gripe at the moment is the use of iron sights - they slow the pace of fps and take away a focus on twitchy, pinpoint accuracy, which is what I like :sniper:

It's cool the way you can choose between different objectives and classes on the fly. Being able to finish off downed opponents is also something that will never get old :)

Brink's Home Security game?

Now that would be awesome! All that fear mongering would translate into an awesome game.

Oh Warbie, always the optimist!;)

Anyway, the PC was not 'first' when it comes to gaming, the first PERSONAL computer and the first video gaming consoles both came out in 1972.:)

The Micral N personal compter and Magnavox Odyssey video gaming console.:p

I said the PC was first when it came to insta kill melee in fps, you crazy mad Swede :)

No game on pc comes to my mind that had insta kill melees. Of course talking about games that weren't cross platform, well UT's had hammer, but you had to charge it up.

They should have just done the melee system like in ET or Quake.

The RTCW/ET melee system is the one console shooters tend to use these days. Insta kill from behind. Halo may have popularised it, but RTCW had it first.

Thats the key, you need to hit some specific area to get an instant kill, not just hit from any direction and get a kill; which is the console insta kill, just mash melee and grow a mustache.

Now that I looked at the vids again, I'm getting an ET vibe, which is good.

I'm almost certainly arguing the toss now, but in Halo etc it is also only an instant kill from behind.

I'm getting the ET vibe too btw - watching the engineer repair the crane brought back many happy memories :)

Could be, maybe I'm having too much nerd rage today :'(

I don't know if anyone else cares, but the sound in this game was awesome in the videos.

I dont like the look of the characters, dont fit whit the background

also as someone else said: mirrors edge+borderlands=this

also that smart thing looks like it will be anyoing

"come on jump to the what? dont hug that enemy I wanted to shoot it!"

"cmon do the ground slide! the ground slide no the look at your feet movement!"

I'm adding this to my list of potential purchases.

The SMART system is optional - if it's not for you, don't press that button. I think it'll make the gameplay quite interesting with a little practice and good implementation myself.

I think the environment looks fine - there are nice parts of the city that haven't been too ravaged by the infighting, whereas there were very intriguing parts of the environment where the infighting has been apparently going on for some time. I've only watched two of the videos, and I already want to go to that place and look around.

looks promising....
I like the objective wheel. Mainly because it'll give people who wouldn't normally participate actively in team play something to do, with the incentive to do so.
also, that new trailer is slick!

I read an interview that said you would be more effective at parkour by manually doing it than pressing the SMART button.

it look like nothing of tf2 to me

is due to the stilized characters?

Both.

God I'm so excited for this game, it's unreasonable. "That wasn't incoming." *zzzzzzPEW* "Okay, that was incoming."

I'm really excited for this game, I just hope Bethesda being the publisher doesn't lead to them making all sorts of shitty decisions telling Splash to change this or that.

Probably also the engineer class laying turrets, the players escorting a moving objective on a set path, the tactical class-based teamplay in large detailed but helpfully blocky environments, the player bouncing and jumping from place to place like a scout...there are plenty of similarities, I reckon. None of these things are exclusive to TF2 but the game just has a reminiscent aura...no bad thing.

Looks pretty great. I love the on-the-fly objective picking and class switching, makes the potential for coop diversity ridiculous. Also like that it's an RPG-shooter but the weapons still have a nice feel/punch to them, usually they seem kind of weak in these games.

Hope you can turn off the XP above enemies' heads, though. Just because the game has RPG elements doesn't mean I want that shit in my face while I'm shooting other peoples'.

still I dont like how the characters look that diferent from the background,is like if the levels and characters where designed by diferent teams

I don't know if they look that different, they just stand out. The characters have the same sort of feel as the junkyard environments they're in, clean minimalist clothes with garbage and grit overtop, like the one guy who has tire pieces for shoulder pads.

Those gameplay elements better be in the game. Otherwise this'll be just another overhyped crapfest.

Looks cool but yeah I'll be kinda pissed if I can't do that slide under the door shooting thing :|

I am talking more about the style, the grafiti like style of the characters dont combine that much whit the realistic look of the levels

also reminds a lot of gear of wars

Hmm.. Looks pretty good. Might just have to get it.

CG looks great, but too bad the whole game mechanic is noobified

In that original video... why does everybody have a horse face?
