Come on stern, even you should know this. In a market where a single bullet cost 10,000 dollars, the demand would be very low, thus nobody would buy any. This would probably make it so that a black market would have to significantly lower the prices of the items they illegaly obtain, just to sell them to people. Not to mention there are tons of independant people out there who are expert machine-smiths and can create their own bullets. Thus you have a small illegal operation manufacturing bullets, which are sold at a discount price to the black market, which are then sold at a slightly increased price to the consumer. And those costs can very well be really low if people needed it to be. Perhaps even as cheap as the materials cost for criminals who have connections.

That's the thing, people who don't know about firearm technology are usually the ones who think that banning them will stop them being used in crimes.

You need nothing near a lab to make bullets, if i wanted to i could make ammunition in my kitchen, there is NOTHING in my house that is in any way illeagal or dodgy........so it could go unoticed, it would not need a "secret lab" by any means.

How do you mean? homemade ammunition can be identical to factory loads, if it's done in the kitchen how is anybody gonna know?
If criminals can slip uzi's on ferrys i'm sure they can make ammo without being noticed.
Btw ammo can be reloaded very quickly, ammo is cheap to make, ammo is simple technology...........criminals will still have ammo even if you ban it.
UK criminal shootings, you think they buy their 9mm para from UK gunshops?
........you can't buy 9mm para unless you are a registered firearms dealer, because we legally don't have any guns to fire them.
So how then do a handful of people a year get shot with 9mm submachine guns?
Homemade ammo and imported ammo. (about 50/50 in uk)

Something may have flown past my head doing mach6, but i thought Britain had already banned carrying knives in public that have a blade bigger then a certain measurement and already had laws stopping people under the age of 16 from buying them?

edit: Ok, just realised that we do have those laws but it would be a ban on anything with a pointed blade.

I was reading the same discussion on another forum and one of the participants said something that i found myself agreeing with, all this will do is move people who want to commit violent crime onto another means of doing it or having them simply slice their victim rather than stab.

Ok, just realised that we do have those laws but it would be a ban on anything with a pointed blade.

A&E doctors are calling for a ban on long pointed kitchen knives to reduce deaths from stabbing.

All the things willyd mentions have uses outside of their lethal potential. And yes of course so do kitchen knives. But the point is; do kitchen knives really need to be long and pointy? Considering a kitchen knife is used for slicing not stabbing, then no they don’t. And yes, maybe people will resort to slicing instead of stabbing, which means there will be far less fatalities from knife attacks in Britain. Which is exactly what the doctors are saying.

Of course such a thing would be seen as nazism because it selects those who are "not as good" and removes them.
