Bush 'gropes' German Chancellor

Daman you need a gf but I doubt you could get one because if you wanted to hold hands you would call that sexual harrasment.

Good gravy guys, first of all, its not funny because its "sexual harrasment", as such, its funny, because its unwelcome, unbecoming conduct of the leader of the free world. Now excuse me if I am to think that a person holding such a highly dignified office should conduct himself (and especially when in other countries acting as a representative of me and my countrymen) with a little dignity, restraint, and a little distinguished demeanor.

Its funny, because he is a horrible leader, whos' stupidity is going to kill us all... :/

But yeah, I like Bush. Most amusing president ever. :D
Your country can forget Bush after the next President comes along.
The rest of the world will have to live with the repercussions of his idiocy.

Thats strange, because I wasnt aware that putting your hands on someones shoulders makes you an unrestrained, undignified and common thug

because thats exactly what i called him isn't it, and unrestrained undignified thug... You're thick, if your administration sucks so bad that you have to give shoulder massages then you fail at presidency, sorry kids, thats just the way it is.

completely newsworthy

i wonder what you guys would say if he was blown in the oval office?

Yeah, you're right. This is totally related. I hear every democrat screaming impeach now over this.

Edit: Nevermind
My poor choice of wording doesnt change the fact that the entire uproar is ridiculous. Apart from that, you're correct

Funny, because you seem to be the American here - Im from Britain. Nice job there
Besides, my poor choice of wording doesnt change the fact that the entire uproar is ridiculous.

Hell, if he did sexually assualt the Chancellor then surely that would make him a thug.

Nice job there how? I didn't make any reference to where you may be from.. so uh, what the hell are you on about? And I agree, it is rediculous to take this so seriously, so as I said before.. just laugh about it.

(oh ok, I said "your administration" that was a general term, at that point I was refering to him/his administration, not "your" administration. so the statement "if your administration sucks so bad you have to resort to shoulder massages" - to Bush)

Yeah, you're right. This is totally related. I hear every democrat screaming impeach now over this.
um yeah, its 'sexual' conduct by our leaders. no one is screaming about impeach him, but if youre so outraged over this, and he WAS blown in the oval office, i imagine every democrat would be screaming impeach now. :rolling:

Who said I was outraged? Did you see the word outrage anywhere? I'm more embarrassed than anything (you should be too).

Who said I was outraged? Did you see the word outrage anywhere? I'm more embarrassed than anything (you should be too).
thats why i said IF you're so outraged. i'm glad about that. if youre embarassed over something so trivial you must be embarassed quite a lot of the time

Trivial? He made a jackass of himself in front of the whole G8 summit (aka the whole civilized world). But then again nothing Bush would ever do would embarrass you so I don't know why I bother to even have a reasonable discussion with you. You're part of the 30% that would not see Bush any differently if he killed a bunch of innocent civillians based on lies, if he sat by watching one country bully another, if he left 25,000 americans stranded in a war zone for up to 2 weeks, if he went infront of the NAACP and talked about how important it is to remove the estate tax (yeah, thats what african americans care the most about), or if he molested a german diplomat. ghost, what would it take for you to not support this jackass?

Yeah sorry, I thought you were directing it at me. As for laughing about it, I agree with you

he didnt humiliate himself or you at the g8 summit by grabbing someones shoulders.

the only point your post makes is that there are MUCH more important things to worry about.

who cares about him putting his hands on sombodys shoulders when hes raping the constitution.

Well I was just going with the terminology used in the original article.. I've already stated that personally I feel grope has more sexual connotations than Bush's shoulder grab. I still think her reaction is priceless :D

Umm... first, how is "sensationalizing nothing" homosexual? I wasn't sure "sensationalizing nothing" had a gender preference in the first place...

Second, people sensationalize plenty of nothing. Just look at so-called "popular" T.V. shows:
Survivor
America's Next Top Model
Project Runway
Among several other "reality" shows.

But that's not the point I want to make.

The point I want to make is that this is NOT nothing.

The behavior made by Bush is sexual harrassment.

By the U.S.'s own definition, sexual harrassment is defined as: "Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when submission to or rejection of this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual's employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment." (Source: http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/fs-sex.html ). "Unnecessary touching or patting" falls under this (Source: http://www.mun.ca/sexualharassment/Definition.html ).

Also, "The harasser's conduct must be unwelcome." As you can plainly see by the pictures and video, it's obvious that the conduct was unwelcome.

Behavior such as this has been deemed illegal in the United States. Unfortunately, like the miriad of other laws the United States has broken under the Bush Administration, this illegal act will probably go unpunished.

Anyone caught spitting on the ground should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. For example, placing your saliva on US territory shall mean your death.

It's only sexual harassment if she were to pursue pressing charges and a trail decides that he is guilty of it.

But that's not the point I'm trying to make. I guess you have never touched anyone in a friendly manner before asking permission.

"May I rub your shoulders?" -DaMaN

Lol Idiot. Do you really call that sexual harassment?

You can't even spell sexual harassment, so stop preaching what it is.

Main Entry: sexual harassment
Function: noun
: employment discrimination consisting of unwelcome verbal or physical conduct directed at an employee because of his or her sex; also : the tort of engaging in such discrimination —see also HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT SEXUAL HARASSMENT, QUID PRO QUO SEXUAL HARASSMENT
NOTE: Sexual harassment has been found by federal courts to violate the protection in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 against discrimination in employment. There are also state statutes under which sexual harassment actions may be brought. In order to recover against an employer under a sexual harassment suit, the plaintiff has to show that the harassment affected the employment (as by being severe or pervasive) and that the employer is liable under respondeat superior because of actual or constructive knowledge of the harassment. Strict liability is often imposed for harassment of an employee by a supervisor or for quid pro quo sexual harassment.

Anyway, did you guys see the Russian president trying to pull that little boys shirt up? I guess he was going to blow on the kids stomach.. i forget what they call that where you put your lips on someones skin and blow really hard so it sounds like a giant fart.. it looked like he was doing that, or possibly begin oral sex on the child. They showed it on the Daily Show. That was funny as balls. You got to see it.

I wouldn't call sexual harassment, but it definately had a "creepy old man" vibe to it.

I used to have a lecturer at university who'd do that during tutorials. He'd come up behind you then start putting his hands on your shoulders...was very weird. Sexual assault? NO! Weird gtfo, yes.

Sexual assault is closer to what the former Italian prime-minister Silvo Berlusconi did to this unsuspecting person. Dry doggy style!

Wasn't much fuss made over this at all.

Anyone caught spitting on the ground should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. For example, placing your saliva on US territory shall mean your death.

Spitting laws in the U.S. generally have a maximum fine of $20, and no death penalty.

It's only sexual harassment if she were to pursue pressing charges and a trail decides that he is guilty of it.

Actually, what usually constitutes sexual harassment is defined as:
Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when submission to or rejection of this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual's employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance or creates an intimidating, hostile or offensive work environment.
(Source: http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/fs-sex.html )

The relevant part is:
"Behavior that is sexual in nature -> A shoulder or back rub" (Source: http://www.titleix.ucr.edu/topic_2_1.htm )

Therefore, I am stating that what I have observed from the pictures and video is sufficient evidence to be classified sexual harassment, and would be grounds to go to court over sexual harassment.

However, yes, a trial would decide guilt. However, I have never stated "G.W. Bush is Guilty of sexually harassing the German chancellor". I have stated:
The behavior made by Bush is sexual harrassment.
I have used the a variety of definitions of sexual harassment, and stated that the behavior made by Bush matches it.

But that's not the point I'm trying to make. I guess you have never touched anyone in a friendly manner before asking permission.

"May I rub your shoulders?" -DaMaN

Lol Idiot.
This doesn't seem like a well-thought-out, mature argument. I fail to see how my personal life in any way shape or form relates to the topic at hand. I also fail to see how calling me an idiot is contributing constructively to the discussion at hand.

Do you really call that sexual harassment?
Yes. I do.

You can't even spell sexual harassment, so stop preaching what it is.
And you mis-spelled trial, does that imply you have no right to "preach" about a trial? Of course not.

And I personally don't consider that displaying the conclusions based on the facts as I've researched them is preaching, as preaching is defined as "The act of delivering a religious discourse; the art of sermonizing; also, a sermon; a public religious discourse; serious, earnest advice." (Source: http://www.answers.com/preaching&r=67 )

-DaMaN

i can laugh at him, he's a retard. but the way people sensationalize nothing is gay.

get over THAT.

QFT it gets annoying when people make big news over nothing and it isn't even funny. It also isn't sexual harassment as shoulders and non sexual language do not = sexual content. When I first heard the word grope I figured he had grabbed her chest not put his hands on her shoulder.

This wasn't funny either (the video) so it's like why post it at all. It's like someone sneezing and its caught on tape and someone makes a thread.

Now what WAS funny was the Italian thing.

Yeah, see, THAT was sexual harassment.

Shoulder touching is battery at worst, and even then, in many instances, you'd have to be a bit of a cockface to prosecute. In this particular case, it looks like when you go up behind someone and stick your fingers in their kidneys.

So Bush is a horrible mix of creepiness, stupidity and immaturity.

What else is new? It's odd/crappy behaviour but hardly worse than, say, Guantanamo.

...what this event really illustrates is Bush's appalling insensitivity to the fact that not everybody else's culture is just like his own.

That Berlusconi video is a fake, by the way. No way this would have gone unnoticed it that were real. THAT would actually be sexual harassment. The Bush action was, as said before, weird, inappropriate, but Angela Merkel is the only person in the world who can say if she felt like she was sexually harassed. The rest of the world cannot.
